Another Journey: Valerie Arc
Bang!
A loud bang was heard after Simon shot one monster around the area causing monsters to head where they had heard the noise. Simon immediately jumps from the 2nd-floor building and runs as fast as he can toward where Hero and Peitho are. They tried to make a way from a small city where Hero believed Valerie was staying.
"Good job, Simon." Simon gave him a thumbs up causing Hero to smile and tap his shoulder and move.
Peitho followed his brother and Simon did it too. They were now walking wandering their eyes around. The city appears to be like a ghost town. No monsters. No people. This added to support Hero's conclusion, Valerie is here and that is why there are no monsters here as monsters were afraid of her presence. She is protecting her soon-to-be palace.
"Wow, this is the first I've seen a place with no monster except at the entrance." Peitho was amazed and ran everywhere and was shocked to see the skeleton of a young child causing him to feel sad.
"That guy must have been through a lot." Simon interrupts and looks at the young child's skeleton.
"We are not here to see what was displayed in the city as if we're in the museum. Even though there are no monsters around, keep your focus on your safety. We might not know people are trying to kill us." After Hero said it, he immediately took his swords and broke the bullets in just seconds causing the enemy to surprise. Hero stared at where the bullets came from and saw a man with a rifle just like Simon had.
"Sorry, we thought you guys are monsters." One man appeared in front walking towards them but Hero immediately pointed his sword at him causing the man to immediately raise his hands. "Hey, we're not enemies. We just thought you all are monsters."
"Don't fool me around. You guys are professionals in shooting so I am sure you all already know how to differentiate people from monsters." The other man with a rifle slowly went behind Simon and Peitho, holding his weapons but Simon immediately pointed his pistol at him causing him to drop his weapon and raise his hand.
"I will explain."
"Your time is finished, you don't have a chance to explain yourself." Hero immediately took the man's hands and twisted them after speaking causing him to shout in pain. The other man was about to run away from them after seeing it however, Simon shot his legs unable to move.
"How many of you guys are here?" Hero asks as he points his sword to the man's neck. "I want an honest answer."
"We have three groups here. We are fighting against territories. We shoot you because we thought you're one of Almond's underlings, our greatest enemy in this City." Hero can smell that this man is telling the truth so he releases him and stares at him. Hero didn't think that the fighting against territories started.
"Who's group are you?"
"Paul." After hearing it, Hero smirks as the name that he mentioned is one of his enemies. He almost died before fighting him but since now is different, he is confident of beating him.
"Hang them, Simon." Their eyes widened after hearing it and begged not to do it as they were afraid of the Vamprils that could eat their flesh in less than two minutes. But they can't complain anymore when Simon covers their mouth with duct tape and hangs them at the ruined side pole. The two me cried their hearts out and their body was trembling but Hero didn't pay attention to them. He left the two crying and begging.
The three of them continue to walk when one person whispers and gives signs to follow him. Hero stared and studied his behavior at first before going towards him. "Geez, I am glad no one sees you. If it is, you would be dead by now. I am Kalvin by the way. You look so unfamiliar, are you new to this City?"
"Actually, we came here to find Valerie." Kalvin's eyes widen after hearing the monster's name. He quickly covered Simon's mouth and looked around if ever there was a monster lurking around.
"Don't you dare speak her name! Do you want to kill yourself? Stop calling her! Stop waking her!" Hero raises his eyebrows after hearing what Kalvin is saying. His voice was trembling and it was obvious that he was scared about Valerie.
"Isn't this city protected by Valerie? And there are no monsters around here because this is where she is sleeping. Why are you saying that?" Kalvin looks at Hero and is able to identify that he really is not from here as it looks like Hero doesn't know about Valerie.
"There is this one monster lurking around every five in the afternoon until seven in the morning and he always takes every person who tries to summon the she monster as they all believe that she can grant them powers just like the awakened ones at the group of Almond and Paul. We don't know where did he bring them but we are certain that they were caught so the she monster could slaughter and eat them as her food."
The information he had received was new to him. Who could be that monster who will take people in those hours? As far as he knows, no monster is allowed to enter her territory so how could one monster be an exception? Is he some kind of connection to Valerie or is the monster one of Valerie's right-hand man?
