"Um, we….", Ruby was blushing furiously.

Suddenly, both Sophie and C laughed out loud.

"Ruby, you are such fun to tease.", Sophie said, still laughing holding her stomach.

"Okay, you all have fun. I won't be a lightbulb here. I just wanted you to know that the relationship between C and me is not what you thought when he said those words."

"How do you.....", her eyes popped wide open at her words. 'She left before he said those things, how did she know?', she was thinking inside her heart. Then she remembered something and looked towards C. But his reaction was enough to dispel the thoughts in her mind. C, too, was looking at her, quite astonished.

Sophie laughed seeing such an honest reaction from Ruby. "How do I know?", she asked.

Ruby nodded her head profusely.

"I was standing upstairs, when he said those things. Everyone were busy with their own thoughts, so, no one noticed me."

"Oh, so that's the case." Ruby heaved a breath which she did not know she was holding.

"Now, can you explain what did he mean when he said that he was born to protect you?"

"I can't explain it to you now, but you will get to know this in due time."

C looked at Sophie and said, "How did you know this? I never said this myself. Who told you?"

"No one. I found it out myself."

"But…"

"There are no ifs and buts."

"So, that's the reason you don't allow me to protect you all the times, but make sure that we are protected?"

"Yes."

Ruby suddenly grasped the meaning of the sentence and asked out in alarm, "WE? There are more?" She was thoroughly amazed.

"Yes," Although the question was directed to C, Sophie answered it readily.

C was even more surprised that she was able to find out about them.

"How many of them?"

"What do you want to ask?"

"How many of them do you know?"

"8"

"All of them?" He was at a loss for words.

"Can you tell me what are you all talking about?"

"Ruby, I came here to clear the misconception, so that there are no further misunderstanding between the both of you. I want bro to be happy. Although, I call him by his name, he is much more like a big brother to me."

"I understand."

"Mm. That's great. Ruby, you are my friend, but, if you hurt him in any way, I absolutely won't spare you, and trust me, my methods are worse.", she warned Ruby with a tone filled with danger. Now, she looked like she came directly from the Hell.

"Okay, stop scaring my girl.", C said, and Sophie withdrew her gaze from Ruby, but it landed on C next.

"Now, that I've finished warning Ruby, let me tell you that, if you ever hurt Ruby, trust me I shall make your life a living hell. I don't need to warn you of my methods, as you already know them."

This time it was Ruby who rescued him saying, "Oh, my poor baby is so scared."

Sophie glanced at C and a tacit understanding flashed in their eyes. She withdrew her gaze and then, finally said in an amused tone, "Don't shove dog food here. I came to clear the misunderstanding. Now that, it has been cleared, I need to leave." She bowed to them, as if they were the king and queen, winked and left. Seeing her acting in this, Ruby started laughing.

"Oh my God! She is so cute."

"That she is." C said with a smile. But this time, seeing him smile because of Sophie, did not make Ruby jealous.
