TRY ME

Still embracing him firmly, Fiona's fear faded out gradually, She felt a strange serenity, and she tightened her arm around his body.

"It's okay Fiona, it's okay, it was just a nightmare, it isn't real" He assured her patting her back gently.

After some minutes, he saw she was breathing normally.

"I will go get water," He stood up to leave.

"Don't please just stay with me please," she pleaded

Samuel could see her pale face with the aid of the moonlight reflection, He waited for a while, and once he noticed she has fallen asleep, he quietly laid her on the bed and sat near her.

" I am here, go to sleep now". he whispered

She nodded sleepily and went closer to him, intertwining his hands with hers.

Meanwhile, Samuel's mind and body were in turmoil; her touch was like frozen water, sending icy sensations down his spine; he tried not to respond to her touch; He lay down on the bed and struggled to relax; fortunately, sleep came.

She opened her eyes. She realized it was already dawn when she looked at the figure next to her; her hands were still clasped in his, but this time he was the one holding her. She looked at his face, his adorable curly hair, small nose, and seductive long eyelashes that could hold her attention for a long time.

"What exactly are you thinking?" She exclaimed, jolting herself out of her thoughts.

"What?" Samuel stated drowsily.

She had no idea she had said the word aloud, thereby waking Samuel.

Samuel sat up, rubbing his hand on his eyes, he stretched his hands and looked at her.

"Good morning and thank you for staying with me" She stated standing up from the bed.

"As I said before, It's no big deal," He yawned afterward.

Fiona stared at him once again, Even his yawning is ..., "God! What are you thinking?" She quickly faced the door.

"I will go now, Thank you once again," She finally said leaving his room.

...

As they were eating breakfast, Samuel passed the jar of jam, she was struggling to carry on the table.

"After we are done, eating, I'll take you to the cloth store nearby, you select some clothes, then, I will bring you home, I will also go to the college. Grandma might come back, I don't know, But I will check on her while going," He explained the daily routine.

"Okay," She said slowly, processing everything thing he said.

"And my number and Grandma's is on the sim in your phone, you can call us if you need anything," He added.

He stood up and carry the plate to the kitchen as they were done eating. Once he was done washing the dishes, he came out and stopped at the sight of Fiona.

She was wearing his grandmother's old red gown and turns out the gown fitted her nicely, her dainty figure came out gracefully, Her short brown hair flowed gloriously stopping at her neck, it seems the hair has grown longer because it was shorter than this at the hospital.

"What? Am I looking bad in it? or you haven't seen a girl in a gown?" She questioned looking confused.

"No, you look great in it, didn't know it would fit you," He replied recovering quickly.

"Are we going now?"

"Yes, give me a sec," He said rushing to his room.

Fiona narrowed her gaze on the road as they left the house, and there it was again, that black SUV. Adrenaline surged through her veins.

"Fiona, what happened? why are you looking this way, do you remember anything?" Samuel inquired, noticing her face turning pale.

"Ohm, Nothing, Let's go," She got into the truck and they drove off.

"Would you like to talk about your nightmare from yesterday?" Samuel inquired.

"I can't seem to remember, the more I try, I get only glitches of them" Fiona lied, leaning against the car window.

"Shouldn't we go to the hospital again," Samuel asked concerned.

"Don't worry, I just need time," Fiona replied.

They arrived at the clothing store, and he brought Fiona some clothes to try on.

She emerged from the dressing room wearing a black short off-the-shoulder gown.

"Your girlfriend looks lovely in this gown," The seller remarked.

"She isn't my girlfriend," Samuel said and glanced at Fiona who heard what the woman said.

Fiona noticed that Samuel stared at that, she then faced the woman and said.

"What he saying is true," Then she went back to the changing room.

When she looked in the mirror and saw the scar on her right shoulder, flashes of memories flashed through her mind, and a new wave of rage swept over her. "I don't have time," she said to herself.

Fiona emerged from the changing room, holding some clothes and indicating to Samuel, "These are fine," she said.

"Just these?" He inquired, his eyebrows slightly raised.

"Yes,"

"Alright," Samuel said as he walked to the counter to pay the seller, leaving Fiona to wait in the truck.

"Are you telling me she's not your girlfriend?" With an irritating smile, the Seller whispered to him.

"No, she isn't... but you are," Samuel whispered in her ear after staring at her for some minutes.

"Huh? "Get out of here!" She laughed as she rolled her eyes.

"You asked for it, after all," Samuel chuckled.

"Why are you laughing?" Fiona asked as she noticed he was laughing as he got out of the store.

"My God, you are so spunky!" Fiona remarked laughing as he told her everything that had happened.

"Well, she kept asking, and I was tired of answering," Samuel explained.

When they got to the house, Samuel handed her the bag of clothes.

"I'll be leaving now, your porridge is in the fridge, warm it up, I'll check on grandma from there, call me if you need anything, and take care of yourself," he said and walked out of the door.

The doorbell rang after a few minutes. "Did he forget something?" she wondered.

She opened the door and saw no one outside; she stepped outside and looked around; her feet felt something; she looked down and saw a note, she quickly carried the paper and closed the door, her fingers trembled while opening the note, It read:

"MEET ME AT THE BACK OF YOUR HOUSE NOW!!!

Sweat beads fell on her face like running water.

"No, you must be strong; you cannot give up now." She was confident in herself.

She knew it was Roger, but she wondered if it was just him because he hadn't seen anyone else in the car earlier.

"Samson knows better than to send just one man!" she reasoned.

She went to the kitchen, picked up a kitchen knife, tiptoed to the backdoor after the kitchen, and leaned against the door, trying to figure out what she was going to do.

She was certain it was just Roger, but what if she was mistaken? Samson, on the other hand, was no fool.

"What do you want from me?" she yelled, leaning against the back door.

"Open the door, girl; I'm not here to murder you."

"Are you by yourself?" Fiona asked, holding the knife firmly in her hand, "Yes I am, and there is no time, damn it!" "If I wanted to kill you, I would have gone two days ago, Jane, don't be silly."

"How come you haven't done that?" She needed to be certain.

" I'd like to respond to that question inside!"

"Wait, I'm coming," Fiona said as she grabbed the doorknob. A little voice inside her head told her to open the door. Of course, he was correct; she would have been dead two days ago if he had wanted it, but she didn't care; she opened the door and quickly inserted the knife into his throat.

He raised his hand and focused his attention on her abdomen. He had a pistol on her abdomen, she looked down. The huge man curved quickly and pinned her against the back door.

"You're letting your guard down," he said, his smirk quickly fading.

"I'll be dead either way," she gasped.
