The doctors words echoed in her brain. "may never bear pups…. Severe damage… lots of scarring…." She couldn't fathom that Drayven second in line to be alpha would want a mate who couldn't bear his pups. It would be unheard of.
Somewhere in all of her rushing thoughts she forgot the fact that she was wrapped in a sheet with messy hair, unshaved legs and probably the worst morning breath and she was wrapped around him like they were teenagers on prom night. Goddess kill her. She was really racking up the embarrassments here.
She pulled away and nearly landed flat on her ass if it hadn't been for Drayven catching her. His arms around her had her body heating up again. She almost purred in satisfaction. She had to get a better grip! She was almost glad when Luna Mae cleared her throat again and suggested that Drayven take her back into the palace and out of the eyes of others.
One by one they all climbed the stairs back into Amelia's room, James carrying Jessa and Drayven carrying Amelia. Amelia looked to jessa and laughed aloud at the thought of the two of them, strong independent and hearty women being carried about like the finest porcelain dolls! She couldn't stop the giggles that came out of her mouth one after another. The more she tried to explain it to Jess, the more she laughed until jessa caught on and was sent into fits of giggles along side her. Anna who had no clue what was funny was next to begin giggling. It was just so infectious!
Luna Mae chuckled a bit as she went to Amelia's bathroom and began drawing her a warm bath. Goddess knows the poor thing could use a nice relaxing soak. She poured in the lavender and rose bath salts and bubbles. She then called Drayven to bring Amelia to the bath and Anna and Jess to help her.
Once she scooted him out the door Drayven found it being shut swiftly in his face. He felt odd. He felt wrong to have a door between himself and his mate. He understood it of course, but it still felt off. He cocked his eyebrow at James sitting in his mate's wheelchair picking invisible lint from her blanket. He wasn't spoiling for a fight, and had no intentions of starting any, but he had questions about his sister in law and he knew James had the answers.
As if picking up on his brother's thoughts, James gestured towards the gardens down the stairs from Amelia's balcony. He noted the subtle things changed. Someone had placed a few potted trees and plants here and there along the terrace. The table and chairs now boasted cheerful yellow cushions and table cloth instead of the navy blue it once had. Seems like she stamped her own mark here and there in ways subtle enough to be feminine but not overly so.
As they walked on, Caleb joined them. He was a child, but no stranger to what the women he loved as sisters had suffered. Though it wasn't intended him finding out about Amelia, it just happened. He had calmed down from the murderous rage he was in yesterday, Alex had helped there. He was mostly heartbroken and beside himself. He still blamed himself.
As if reading it on the air, Drayven spoke up to the boy saying he couldn't have done anything to help them. All he could've done is gotten himself hurt too and worrying them more. It was strange to James to see Drayven being gentle on the lad. He was normally a bit tougher with the young men. Especially ones who showed potential to be warriors. And this boy certainly did. His training was going so well he'd already whipped the best of the warriors in his age group and half of them in the next. He was most definitely a natural.
Drayven didn't waste much time before diving into the questions he had. He asked what happened to Jess, how badly she'd been injured and was enraged to hear how it happened and how James had found her. It made him want to stomp that entire pack even more. And how had no one seen what a mad woman that so called Luna was? Were they blind? How about that alpha? Did he have no control over his woman? Pathetic. What could he lead if his own woman couldn't be controlled?
In all his travel he'd gained knowledge of different cures and things for poisons and wounds caused by what he suspects was black magic. He figured James suspected the same but didn't know if the kid knew so he kept that to himself for now. He'd gather the herbs needed and contact Moira from the next pack over. She is a white witch he trusts. There are very few witches he trusts, they can be dodgy and cagey. Still, Moira changed his mind on all witches being evil when she saved his life at the risk of her own life, she barely survived. It was to her he owed a great debt and would owe more yet before all was done.
Caleb stood back watching Drayven's face carefully, he was deep in thought, and he wondered what had him so perplexed. He watched as he pulled out his phone and called a number. He heard the breathy and sultry voice on the other side of the line. He narrowed his eyes. Who was this woman? Is he with someone already? What about Amelia? He didn't dislike Drayven, he just didn't trust him enough to know how he'd handle the situation with Amelia. Especially now that they knew she was a rare wolf. A female warrior, none had been seen in so long. They'd long been thought to have been killed off. The bloodline supposedly died off with what must've been Amelia's grandparents. No one knew they must have had a daughter… It was only ever mentioned two sons. That means her mother… but no, that can't be, she was a weak omega wasn't she? There were so many questions. Someone needed to start answering and soon….
Drayven felt the shift on the air. He turned just as caleb started to violently shake. The boy was about to get a crash course into his wolf. An early shifter….. Oh boy, this was some motley crew of "omegas". The, what he was sure was goddess kissed future Luna, the warrior female and an early shifting warrior male….
