CHAPTER 6: LAST TO ARRIVE BUT FIRST TO LEAVE

"Thank you for attending this event. As you all know we hold it every year to support the families in need. Last year due to your generous contributions, we were able to help two thousand families to live in better houses and improved conditions.I hope that this year, we will be able to help more people in need. Thank you." With that he gave the mic to the MC and returned to his seat as people clapped.

"Do you know what made me want to start this charity years ago?" He suddenly asked me.

"No. Why?"

"Because of you. You once told me that you would like to help the homeless to find a place they can call home . All those we have helped should be grateful to you." He explained.

"Because of me?"

"Yes."

"Aryan, what happened between us?" I asked because I couldn't take the suspense any longer.

He held my hand before answering. "I want to take you to a special place that we frequently visited. We called it our comfort place. I will take you there after the ball and I can comfortably tell you everything. Hang on for a few more hours, okay,?"

"Okay."

The waiters brought in bouillon, a type of beef soup, but this one had mushrooms in it. I took a few sips and placed it away. Whoever had cooked that soup needed to come for lessons from me. It wasn't that bad but it needed some more flavour and spice.

Next came the appetizers consisting of watermelon, peaches and strawberries. I didn't eat it since there were peaches and I hated them.

"Sorry, I should have told the waiter to bring you another plate because you hate peaches." Aryan suddenly said.

"Oh no, it's fine. Am not that hungry."

"You sure?"

"Yes." I answered and noticed Tyra getting up from her seat and heading to the hallway leading to the bathroom.

"How about we go to our favorite pastry shop?" He asked.

"Like right now?" I questioned back.

"Yes."

I thought for a while before answering. "Okay but let me deal with something first." I stood up and headed towards the hallway that Tyra had disappeared to earlier.

As expected, I found her leaving the bathroom to head back to the hall.

As soon as Tyra saw me, she tried to use the other route but I stopped her by grabbing her arm. I raised my hand and slapped her fair and square on her left cheek. Not feeling satisfied, I slapped her again on her right cheek.

I grabbed her chin and forced her to look at me." You stole my fiancee, I let that issue pass. You made out with him in a hotel that you clearly knew was mine,I let it also pass. But now you want to use drugs on me? And you expect me to sit down and let it also pass? I have had enough of you and don't blame me for the actions that I will take when you cross my line again. Do you get that?" I queried whilst releasing her chin. She winced a bit before looking at me with that gaze of hers that was full of hatred.

"I will see to it that you are done for, Malia. Even if I have to wipe your face off of this earth." She suddenly said as she stood up, still holding her chin.

I laughed. "Really? I will wait to see what you have in store for me, dear little sister."

"You..." She suddenly quieted down and tears cascaded down her cheeks.

"Just how fake can you be? You are acting like a five year old kid, you know. You are a grown ass woman who is 22 so act like one. You really disgust me." I said and turned around to look at whoever she was trying to stage a pity act on. Who else but him? Devon.

He hurried over and wiped Tyra's tears while asking her if she was okay. He then turned to look at me.

"What did you do to her?" He questioned.

I scoffed. "In stead of asking me that, you should ask your pretentious woman what she has done to me. Tch! I can't believe you were my fiancee. Cheap bastard."

"What did you just call me?" He took a threatening step forward as he glared at me, but I stood my ground, openly challenging him.

"She called you a cheap bastard. Didn't you hear that?" A voice suddenly spoke from behind me and I turned to see Aryan making his way towards us.

He stood next to me and looked at the contemptuous couple in front of us, disgust apparent on his face. I looked at Tyra and was she...blushing? I was justified for calling her cheap and disgusting.

"Mr. Aryan it's an honor to finally meet you in person." Tyra suddenly spoke as she tucked her hair behind her ear shyly.

"And who are you to call me by my name?" He asked and Tyra looked at him in utter shock.

"I don't know you and we've never met so don't go around calling me so casually. We aren't that close, Miss."

"But..."

"Let's go." Aryan interrupted her as he spoke to me. He placed his hand on my back, guiding me back to the hall.

However, before we could even take a step forward, Devon grabbed my arm.

"What do you want now?" I asked, irritated, as I tried to free myself from his grip but it was futile.

I sent a helpless look towards Aryan and he forcefully pried Devon's hand from my arm.

"Sir, she's my fiancee." He suddenly said and I was blown by this man's courageous and shameless remark.

Aryan held my hand and rubbed the spot where Devon had gripped, before answering. "Last time I checked, she dumped you today at 1:43 p.m in room 12 on the second floor of Silver Moon Hotel. So I don't get why you are claiming that she is your fiancee, whereas you two have already split up."

"Also, you have been seeing her sister behind her back since May fourteenth of 20xx up to this day. For example, that sister is in your arms right now and you want to cling onto another woman. Malia wasn't wrong when she said that you are a cheap bastard."

I looked at him stunned. How did he know even the exact dates?

With that, he whisked me to the hall. We passed by the table and bid Aryan's friends goodbye as I picked up my purse. We were the last to arrive at the event but the first to leave. How ironic.
