Chapter VI

----------------------------------Chapter 6-----------------------What has to be done, Alice-------------------------------

"Are you telling me that the king was able to slip away from you? No, not you...From the both of you?! Aren't you two useless, right now?" The mother of the current monarch angrily yelled at the two kingdom knights as she threw the food she was currently eating.

"Please forgive us, Dowager Queen! The king was just resting after he helped a demi-human. He asked us to get something for him but when we came back he suddenly disappeared⸺" Lottie was unable to explain furthermore when the Dowager Queen furiously slapped the small antique table in front of her. Two of her servants can feel this intense aura of the Queen towards them.

"Charlotte, I never asked for your explanation! I asked you to watch every move of the King and you'll give me this!?" Charles interrupted the Dowager Queen's complaints to his partner by kneeling down and begged to get punished by the Dowager Queen herself.

"Your Highness, I begged you to punish me instead! Charlotte wasn't the one who is really being careless, I failed my duty and your expectation! Please your Highness punish me with your equal sense of judgment!" He boldly said, thus the Dowager Queen started breathing heavily.

"I can't believe this is happening!" unpleasant of the things that didn't go in her way, the Dowager Queen dismissed the two without furthermore words.

Charlotte's face can't be painted when she is finally able to leave the Dowager Queen's quarter, she is neither angry nor disappointed from some point. As they walked continuously, she then asked her subordinate about the King's whereabouts.

"Where could the king go off to? He went away with Liam but how can he just abandon the two of us like this?"

"Don't you think it's a bit weird that he took Liam with him but he just left us here? Don't you think he knew that we were secretly working with the Dowager Queen?" Charles was slightly puzzled about the fact they were facing from time to time.

"That can't be… Unless Liam knew about it all along." the two of them simultaneously talking about the King until they are given a new assignment by the Dowager Queen.

Meanwhile, Alice is still in the abandoned warehouse where Demi-human traffickers bring their victims to proceed to the negotiation between their clients. This so-called warehouse is secretly located on an unknown island that either the king of his own kingdom wouldn't know.

Alice's POV⸺

I went somewhere where I could get a sword but the whole place is guarded with men who hold a lot of things that might actually kill me. So, all I have to do is to hide though I wouldn't prefer this because if these people are able to learn from my disappearance I am pretty sure that they will go after me.

I don't know where I can go, however, these people who are the bad guys said something for me. It is rather useless at some point. I wanted to get it because perhaps I could use it somehow.

"Burn the list of the evidence. The ship will transport those demi-humans at exactly 9 PM, so you must not leave any trace." somehow, I was able to eavesdrop on these bad guys. They are planning to export the people here which they are probably going to sell as they say so.

And what has caught my attention is this evidence, they are planning to burn. I wasn't so sure if it really matters if I can get hold of it but I have to try and distract them until 9 PM.

I'm not sure what time it is exactly but I'll do my best. It's the least thing that I can do to find Cheshire behind those cages.

"Where could I find the evidence?" this person's underling asked, and they just mumbled to each other. I couldn't understand what they were talking about, that's why I decided to tail the man who was in charge of burning the evidence they were talking about.

As planned, when I saw this certain man went to a certain room. I silently watched him enter the room. He was confident that no one would mess up with him since he didn't bring any people with him, "Little did he know that he is in great danger… kekeke." I couldn't help but smirk to myself.

When he entered the room, I quietly did the same although I locked the door after that. He was intensely looking for evidence that he wasn't able to notice me, I'm already in the same room as him.

I walked toward him, he was searching on a study desk. I could see that he is not yet done collecting those evidence as I asked him abruptly.

"Is that all the evidence you've got?"

"No, there is also outside the warehouse. It is in the cabin and I have to go there after that I need to burn it just like what the boss said." Surprisingly, he told me about the evidence outside this warehouse.

This stupid man suddenly gasped as he stopped from doing anything, slowly tilting his head like he is seeing a ghost. I smiled at him beautifully, "W-w-w-w-who in the world are you?!" he was trembling when he asked that to me.

"You don't know? I am just the innocent person you guys abducted!" by explaining that to him, I clenched my fist and let my fist handle the rest.

"Actually, this is my first time doing such action. In wonderland, they wouldn't let me do things like this! I'm really fabulous aren't I?" I was boastfully telling those things to the man who fainted after receiving my punches.

I happily took those pieces of evidence that he collected before, "I couldn't understand these things." I tried to read it however, it was really difficult for me to do so. I can't understand the letters written in the papers. Thus, I still took them and put them inside my clothes.

After that, I decided to leave that room. Walking out without making any sound. I didn't know that this is to be hard after all.

"I need to go in that cabin and take the other evidence, it'll be a problem if it gets burned." But I don't have any idea where the exit is. I shouldn't randomly take paths, but if this is just nothing but a house. The exit might be somewhere on the ground floor.

"And I'm on the second floor right now." They say that this is an abandoned warehouse but I think it's not a warehouse after all. I saw a lot of human's house structures in some books in wonderland, so I doubt it.

When I took my path down the stairs, it was so clear. I couldn't see anyone in sight at all. Though I could hear the laughter from somewhere. "They are probably celebrating because they thought everything was going well to their plan."

Let them celebrate Alice, don't ruin their pathetic small celebration. And I thought so, so soon I found the exit. I'm truly bright for this. Although I wasn't expecting that there will be two people guarding the exit. I had to think of something that will shoo those two people away from that spot.

"...If I run quickly toward the exit, will they be able to catch me?" I asked myself that silly plan of mine. I don't think that will actually work at all. You see, those two people were holding some sort of weapons.

I might just get caught, "But I can't just give up here. I need to do my very best. I've come so far! I mustn't lose to these bad humans." I tried to cheer myself up, still, I can't feel assured of this.

I was on the verge of my decision where I should just pass them or just give up when something coincidentally went up.

"There are trespassers on the site! We need to silent them!" some guys from outside suddenly gave an order to those two people who were guarding the exit.

and...Just like that, they went off.

"Oh, is this destiny?" Anyways. It was going perfectly to my side as I passed the exit without any problems. I saw this man talking about which is the cabin that has the evidence inside. I ran toward that cabin, "It wasn't locked?" probably because they are to burn the evidence and there's no reason to lock this up since they thought everything is going to their plan.

I went inside and closed the door, soon as I started searching for the evidence. "This cabin is too messy unlike the room before." It was supposed that the evidence had just been hidden on the table but I couldn't find it.

"Where could it be?!" I was a bit lost, my patience is running out either. I was covered in my sticky sweat because it was too much hotter inside here.

I didn't expect that I would hear some people who are fighting outside. I had to hide below the table, "What's happening outside? Are the trespassers trying to break inside here?" I curiously asked myself.

I peeked in the hole of this table as I saw a man enter the cabin, I stayed silent and I feel I'm in trouble.

Still, I continued observing him. "Where is the evidence? Where could it be!?" the man muttered out of nowhere.

But I'm pretty sure that I heard it right, he was looking for the evidence too?

"Check the inside of the cabin! Someone might have broken through inside!" What? I don't understand.

The man who was just searching suddenly acted like he was in a panic. He is somewhat searching for a place to hide when he ended up to where I was hiding.

"Uwahh!" both of us yelled in panic. I wasn't so sure if he is an enemy or a comrade! I couldn't tell myself.

"W-what are you doing here, Lady!?" He asked me, "Oh! Wait… you are!" but I quickly recognized him somehow because he resembled the guy who tried to help me before!

He looked shocked too, he pointed his finger to me as he blinked a few times. "You are that girl from before, w-what are you doing here!?"

"I-I should be the one who is asking that!" this man, who could he be?!
