He rested his head on the pillow, fighting the sleep that was forcefully taking over. His gaze stayed on the clock, his heart waiting patiently for the sound of familiar footsteps.
Levi sighed again. Ever since he began his treatment, he felt more human. That includes a proper sleep cycle. His body though trained to work on a timer, now demanded more rest.
The silence in the room was no longer haunting. He was content for the first time in years. Between his arms, a black book was held tightly to his heart. A smile lingered on his lips.
Despite his will to stay awake, sleep won eventually. When the footsteps he had been anticipating finally echoed in the room, he wasn't conscious to receive them.
Arya's steps were light despite the heaviness she felt with each movement forward. With everything she knew now, something was unlocked in her soul.
