Chapter 11
'Now tell me, what is wrong and what is right and to reply I will tell you what is just'
-A sad young man.
For every riser, there is a servant. Not just any servant, a servant sent to watch over them from the Gods. Currently, the only information we can reveal about them is, they are not human.
The tap is running, the sounds of cooking in the castle's kitchen produce an enticing rhythm. Hade is in a corner dicing carrots and other vegetables; she glances at the clock from time to time persistently, expecting something? Or someone...
She hides her worry under a blank expression. Another maiden comes by holding a basket of fresh vegetables, she dumps them next to Hade, and despite her attempt to gain her attention Hade continues cutting carrots.
The maiden clothed in classic maid clothes and silver braided hair, despite her angelic appearance held a cold heartless aura about her, an almost perfect copy of Damian.
She grabs a carrot out of the basket and begins to peel in, standing next to Hade, she noticed her anxiety as she kept looking at the clock, which prompted her to get closer.
'You and your master are strange. No, the humans of this generation are strange'
'He's even managed to change someone like you, Neon?'
Regardless of what she says Hade diligently continues her work, keeping the time under her watch.
'Tell me what is it that so interests you in these humans? all they seek is mindless destruction and hate'.
The clock's ticking seems to get louder as servants leave the kitchen. The time is five thirty-eight, twenty-two minutes until dinner is served.
'Even that man...'
Hade's chopping intensifies.
'...Will eventually...'
'Find out...'
Hade slices the last carrot with a decisive chop! She turns her head to this foolish girl with malicious intent slowly raising her knife.
She jerks the knife into the board and decides to walk away.
'It seems he won't be joining us for dinner'.
Hade removed her phone from her pocket and typed something for a while before turning back to her.
'Killin, my master will be back by dinner time'.
And she turned to leave.
-Dungeon-
Reno is exhausted after fighting Siren and fending off the army surrounding him. 'What? Is that all you have human?'
Although majorly unharmed, Reno found it almost impossible to break through Siren's defence, armed with her staff which she mastered, she was almost invincible.
Their battle had gone on for a while at this point it is unclear whether he's been backed to a wall, or holding something back.
Buzz buzz
'An alert?' Reno brought out a phone he didn't know he had in his pocket, as he opened the message he was still astonished by the fact that he somehow had cell service down here. He saw a message from an unknown sender, on the sender's name there was only a heart. The message read as follows.
'You have 15 minutes till dinners ready. Make it or else... XOXO'
He instantly knew who the text was from he sighed 'She can be so corny sometimes' he said under his breath.
Reno summoned a flame on his finger and twirled it around in a circle, as he did so a ring of fire appeared encircling him and Siren, burning the undead who tried to cross it.
'So you are enchanted by my beauty, wanting to die by the hands of a lovely damsel. Wise'.
He chuckled and walked closer at a slow pace. 'Yes, even if this will be my last battle, I'd love to spend it defeated by a beauty such as you'.
Slowly she lowered her guard and her staff. Reno bowed before her and offered his neck in an appealing gesture.
Confidently, she raised her staff to strike him. Instead of fear his current position he laughed.
The man in front of Siren disappeared; she began to feel a chill running down her spine. But she gradually began to lose feeling in her back. She looked down to her chest, only to see a hand soaked in blood sticking out of her.
From behind her could hear a cold voice 'I do have a way with girls hearts'. The hand she saw held something in it, covered in blood, something beating.
Siren coughed blood, succumbing to her fate 'So..you were holding something back weren't you'.
'Yeah...'
'Of all the monsters and humans I've faced, you are the most..'
Reno clenched his bloodied fist and Siren was silenced. He smirked and withdrew his hand; Siren's lifeless body fell to the ground.
'Flames of lunacy: a flame summon, the flame's summoned once encircling a target drive them to see what they want to see the most'.
'I don't know what you were going to say. But I get the sentiment. I cannot answer whether or not I am...'
'...Evil?'
He looked behind him, at the monster lord's castle further ahead. But the army of undead still surrounded him. He wasn't bothered, he looked at the time, 'Ten more minutes, hmm I'm hungry'.
'I wonder what we're having tonight, better not be anything with carrots!'
'Oh right these guys, I might need more undead in my army. But can I summon dead undead?'
'Tch, it'll only be a pain. Summon: engulf'.
And by his command, the entire horde was devoured by his flames. He attempted an undead summon but it wouldn't work.
'Just as I thought. If I had known I would have taken care of these guys. I don't have much time left...
'...Dinner will be ready soon'.
