Child Prodigy

Chapter 2

Title: Child Prodigy

--

[Four years later...]

In the district made for the nobility, a luxurious black carriage with golden decorations rode through the streets.

It was quite eye-catching, and with the proud crest of a winged-white tiger, it was impossible for the surrounding residents to not know the owners of the carriage.

Unlike on the outside, the ones sitting inside the carriage were sitting quietly.

A young girl sat there with her eyes gently closed while a stream of sunlight gleamed on her face. She had pale-white skin and silky white hair. The white dress she wore, which made her seem like a little fairy was a serene scene to the two sitting across from her.

"Once we arrive at the manor the servants will have a grand welcome for you. The day afterward, we will have a meeting with the family, as to welcome and introduce you to everyone." The man across from her said.

He had a handsome face with silver hair like the young girl and red eyes that had a gentle look to them.

The girl simply nodded her head without opening her eyes.

"Are you excited to meet your siblings?" The woman said. Like the man next to her, she had a beautiful face with golden-blond hair and blue eyes.

These two, who surpassed even the looks of supermodels, were Reiko's mother and father, Ayane Nagai and Omen Nagai.

"Mhm, very." She said with a disinterested tone.

Ayane could only look at her husband with a wry smile. This was his 3rd time meeting Reiko, so he wasn't use to her nonchalant attitude. Although, it was very unfitting for a four-year-old.

It may sound weird that they had only met three times considering he was her father. But, that was because of the tradition of this world, well for the nobility that is.

The tradition goes like this.. When a child from a noble family turns four years old they must go through a family acceptance ceremony. During the time before those four years, the child is only allowed contact with their mother and minimum contact with their father.

That was not the only thing, it was also the ceremony that determined someone's magic attribute. This part was something everyone had to go through, commoner or noble.

Reiko couldn't understand the reason for a family acceptance ceremony though.

Had the child not been born from your very own sperm? What was the need of accepting them?

It made no sense to her.

"..You don't sound very excited." Omen frowned slightly.

"Dear, she might not show it but I'm sure Reiko is very excited." Ayane tried to reassure her husband.

'As if. I'd be more excited to read books about magic. I asked for a powerful family in order to have access to things like this. I could care less about the members of the family.'

As the ride went on Reiko thought about her last few years in this world.

After turning one she was able to feel the mana in her body. And damn did she have a lot!

If someone tried comparing Kaguya's chakra reserves to Reiko's mana pool, it would be like comparing a bucket of water to a large river.

Because Reiko was able to feel her mana, she was also able to discover her magic attributes. Yes with an S.

These two were light and dark magic.

'I should be thankful to that goddess for giving me such strong magic attributes. Not only are they rare, but also dangerously overpowered if the wielder learns to control them. That wielder is, of course, the amazing ME!'

She mused to herself.

At the age of two, Reiko began studying all the books in the library. Whether it was magic, martial arts, poisons, different languages, and even cooking recipes. Reiko studied them all to the point of knowing how to read them backwards.

By the age of three, she was able to control the mana in her body. If anyone had discovered she was able to do this at the age of three, they would have surely named her a child prodigy or even better.

Now at the age of four, Reiko was able to cast advanced-tier spells without even batting an eye.

'I planned to start my actual training this year. Combat training is necessary for the worlds I plan to travel to later. Although, I'm confident I'd be able to defeat anyone with my magic alone, but it never hurts to be prepared..'

"We're here!" Ayane's excited voice woke Reiko up from her thoughts.

Suddenly the carriage door opened with the bowing of a butler. "Welcome Master, Madam, and Young Miss. We've eagerly waited for your arrival."

Omen simply nodded his head and stepped down with Ayane doing the same. Reiko was much too little to get off the carriage herself, so with help of her father she was able to get out.

Reiko stared at the scenery with a surprised face. This manor, which was more like a castle had a stone pathway with servants lined up on both sides. On the end was a small pond with the statue of a winged tiger standing proudly.

She walked down the pathway with both her parents standing to her side. As they walked down the path, the servants bowed one by one until she got to the end.

Reiko then turned towards the servants and spoke with a proud tone. "I am Reiko Nagai, the 7th child of the Nagai Family. It is a pleasure to meet you all."

"WELCOME, YOUNG MISS REIKO!" Their voices resounded around the manor. It was full of new respect and admiration for the new member of the Nagai family.
