Nelly stood rooted on thespot looking in shock and terror at Francis who was writhing in pain and cursing. Her heart beat faster, and many questions and scenarios rushed across her mind, all too unpleasant.

'Oh my goodness, he is in so much pain. What do I do? What if the force was so hard that he might die from being hit by a blunt object? Will I go to jail? Won't I serve a long sentence? Fuck, what was I thinking getting out of the kitchen and hitting this man?" Nelly thought.

"Fraaank!" Karen screamed when she saw her son. She jumped across the room and slid on the floor to get to Frank.

Luckily, she got to him and held him by one arm, then breathed deeply to express her relief. Safe in his mother's arms, Frank started crying, perhaps realizing then how he had been saved by a whisker from falling and hitting his head.
