Damien glanced at Rian who avoided his gaze.

When Mila returned, Valerie was t her seat.

She sighed.

"What do you want now?" she said.

Valeria scoffed, "Now that you have the director's backing you feel so invincible.

Mila breathed ignoring her.

"Are you. listening to...do you think it will last. Men like him only come to such girls like yourself for other needs nothing serious..and when he's done with you, I will be there to laugh at you ".

Mila glanced up at her.

"It's sad that you think all men are like your boyfriend. If he cheated once he will do it again" said Mila.

Valeria glared clutching her fist.

Samantha walked closer.

"I think you should return to your department," she said.

Valeria sighed and walked away.

Mila dropped her head down.

"This is horrible, it's only the first day and all this happened" she cried.

Samantha smiled.

"I would love to know how it all started with the new boss but I think he won't like me asking," she said.

Her eyes the opposite way. Mila followed her sight to see Damien glancing at them.

"Whatever you did to him must have been special. He's so into you, it's scary "

The rest of the day went by and Mila forgot about what happened until she got home.

"What did you do?" asked her mother.

"Mother, what do you mean "Mila muttered.

She had noticed her mother's cane in her arms. It was the one she always used to beat her up.

Gulping Mila got closer when she called her.

"Rian called and told me something very astonishing, "she said.

Mila scoffed.

Her mother got up raised her cane and hit her.

She cried out in pain.

"How could you keep lying to me you wretch "screamed her mother.

She cried, it hurt so bad that her body stopped feeling it anymore. Falling back she collapsed.

A visible bite mark appeared on her neck.

Damien had just left work when he noticed one of his employees rush out trying to grab a taxi.

She had seemed close to Mila in the office. They were not together cause Mila left early.

"Isn't she a friend of Mila? "he said.

His assistant nodded.

"They are best friends, been together since high school" she her assistant.

He had told her to do a background check on everyone in the office.

Samantha was on the phone.

"Am coming bestie, hang on " she said.

Damien who heard what she had said frowned.

"You said they are best friend with Mila?" he asked.

"Yes "

Samantha got a taxi.

"Follow her taxi, now," he said.

Damien could feel something ache in his chest.

"Hurry, something is wrong with my mate," he said.
