Chapter 27: Disappointed

Haya's POV

I woke up in the morning feeling amazing but also quite exhausted after yesterday's sexual events between me and Zaied. I do not know why I felt uneasy when we were f****** on the balcony, I had the same feeling I had years ago whenever Jahin was near. It was probably the chill breeze because how can Jahin be anywhere near me.

I got off the bed, tidied up the mess Zaied and I made then neatly did the bed. I decided to go outside on the balcony to get some fresh air then I ended up looking at the ocean as the peaceful waves created rhythm and I closed my eyes welcoming the morning sunlight as it hit my skin. The neighborhood Zaied lived in was quiet but kids were playing in the streets and at the beach. The noise they were making got so irritating I decided to close the sliding door and got inside the room.

Let me call Ruby, it has been a while since we both have talked. I can not wait to tell her about all this but wait should I even tell her? I mean she is not going to like the idea of me being involved with an older guy and honestly, I am not in the mood for a lecture so early in the morning. Let me just call her, I will avoid any conversation that involves talking about men.

"Hey, Best friend! do not tell me I woke you up again." I said as soon as the video chat connected.

'No you did not wake me up bess, I am just getting ready for class. Do not forget! Paris is like 1 hour behind South African time babe." she said as I looked at her put on a face mask.

"Mmh, tell me which face mask you are putting on? it looks expensive." I said with sarcasm.

"Ugh! I was just telling Carla how much I missed you and your silly remarks. I am putting on Loreal Paris's face mask, it is not that expensive bess." she replied giggling.

Who is this Carly or whatever her name is? It honestly bothers me like I am happy for her if she has a new friend but they just sound way too close.

"Oh, so bess who is Carly?" I asked trying not to sound jealous.

"Ncoow! look who is jealous, her name is Carla. She is no one you should worry about Bess, she is just my new friend. We are taking the same course so we share all our classes, what is interesting is that she is actually from Cape town. She is mixed, I do not quite remember how but her mom is South African and her dad is foreign." she replied looking at me with the face mask making her look like a zombie.

"Thank you for explaining I feel so much better my little zombie, she sounds cool by the way," I replied when suddenly Zaied walked into the room with a white towel on his waist and his black hair dripping with water revealing his six-pack and his huge muscles.

Ruby looked at me with her eyes wide open with shock and I just looked at her back not knowing what to say. Zaied walked up to me.

"Hey there, are you Haya's friend?" Zaied greeted Ruby with his Arabic Cape town accent then sat next to me.

"I am her best friend, who are you?" Ruby replied annoyed trying to put on a defensive tone.

"I am Zaied," he replied then stood up and walked out the room.

"Bess who is that?" Ruby asked me as soon as he closed the door behind him.

"He is a guy I met here in Cape town," I replied.

"Dude you just got in Cape town yesterday! all this time I thought you were at campus but you are at that old man's house? wow, Haya! I honestly did not expect this kind of behavior from you." Ruby replied fuming with anger.

"I am sorry, I have known him for a while. We have been talking on Instagram, yesterday I landed quite late so he just offered me to sleep at his place since it is close to the airport." I lied.

"Did you sleep with him? since when do you even trust the weirdos you meet on Instagram. I honestly can not believe this, I need time to cool off." Ruby hung up the phone.

I saw something shiny close to the sliding door. I approached it then picked it up, it was some sort of chip. It looked like something the police use to plant a microphone on someone, what is it doing in here? was Zaied recording me?!!

Where the f*** is he? he needs to explain what this is doing in his room. Zaied! Zaied! come out! where are you?! I shouted out his name as I walked around his penthouse looking for him. I found him in the kitchen drinking from a cup, he looked so unbothered like he did not hear me as I shouted out his name.

"What is this?" I showed him the chip.

"What the f*** is that?" he immediately stood up, grabbed the chip from my hand, and scanned it.

"This is the most expensive chip you can ever find, the company I work in has been trying to get this for security purposes in our offices but they can not afford them." he looked surprised as he continued to scan the chip with his eyes glued to it.

I liked how intrigued he was as he looked at it, he had suddenly become this man who showed his emotions and expressed himself. I do not know where this chip comes from but I am glad I found it, he is super excited and surprised. I can not get him to even look at me.

"I do not know where it came from, I found it next to the sliding door," I replied.

"I wonder how it got there, the kids around here must have found it on the street and threw it inside here because I can not afford anything this expensive. This is probably worth 2 million rands," he replied still holding the small chip.

"Wow 2 million that is a lot of money Zaied! We should probably throw it back outside, it might belong to some drug dealers or something I do not know." I said.

"Yeah okay I will throw it away," he replied even though I did not believe that he would.

"I am hungry," I said when my stomach growled.

"You can go take a shower and brush your teeth. I will make you some breakfast," he replied smiling.

Wow, I really can not believe he just smiled at me and offered to make me breakfast. I went to take a shower, his shower was pretty small and kind of dirty too but I tried my best to be comfortable and not complain. I brushed my teeth then decided to wear my Adidas gray shorts and a white crop t-shirt with my Yeezy sliders.

I looked at myself in the mirror then untied my hair, I love my natural hair but it is honestly a lot of work and I already have a lot on my plate. Let me just comb it and leave it as it is. Afro is the best option at this point.

I walked into the kitchen and the smell was just amazing. The food had an amazing aroma and I just could not wait to dig in but I saw that he had made eggs. I immediately lost my appetite, I do not eat eggs and I hate to inform him because he has put so much effort into making the food.

"Zaied I do not eat eggs," I said as I sat down on the chair next to the kitchen counter trying my best not to puke because of the smell of the eggs.

"Oh okay, I will dish out your food on a new plate," he replied.

We both ate breakfast in utter silence. I kept thinking about how much Jahin and I would talk even though I did most of the talking. He would laugh as I continued to talk non-stop, I knew he was listening and enjoying my company. Ever since I arrived in Cape town I keep thinking about Jahin, firstly it was the dream I had on the airplane, last night I felt his presence on the balcony and now I can not stop thinking about him.

I honestly do not know why because although I would think about him back at home, it was not so frequently. We finished eating and headed to the car. We drove out of his neighborhood as he played music expecting me to keep quiet. I just looked out the window eager to get to campus.

We finally arrived and I looked out the window at the beauty of the building. I became so star-struck by how amazing Stellenbosch University was. I really can not believe I will be studying here, it looks like one of those amazing buildings in some foreign country.

"Wow." is all I said after scanning the building.

"I know," Zaied replied. I looked at him and giggled at his sudden reply. He looked back at me but did not laugh at all. Zaied is a robot.
