5 Little adventure.

"So you have anything planned for Saturday?" Mia asks me as we begin to walk to my locker.

"Yes. Work." I state and she rolls her eyes.

"Very funny."

For the next three days, I haven't seen Matt. I always found myself looking at his empty seat wishing he'd just appear. Although our encounters had always been me crossing the line, he still talked to me.

I sigh as I walk to my locker. it was lunch time, but I wasn't in the mood for anything.

"I'm going to the cafeteria. You want anything?" Mia asks me.

"I'm good."

"If you say so." She walks away and I open my locker.

Suddenly, I felt a presence behind me.

"What did you forget this time Mia?" I ask but she doesn't reply me. "Are you giving me the silent treatment?" I turn to see it's not Mia.

Bad mistake.

I see Matt standing in front of me with a mark on his left eyebrow and a bandage on his right wrist.

"What happened to you?!" I ask him but he just ignores me.

"Why aren't you at lunch?"

"Why weren't you in school?" I ask him back and he frowns.

"I didn't know I had to report my whereabouts to you."

"I didn't know I had to tell you about my eating plan!" I reply and his frown deepens.

"What do you want?" I ask him.

"I don't know."

"What?"

"I just entered the school, and my legs brought me here."

"Seems your legs has got problems. They don't know the way anymore." I close my locker and turn to walk to the library.

"Well they know what they want." He says and I stop.

"Which is?" I ask him

"I'll see you later smallie." He says and walks off.

...

"What has got you so absent minded Alex?" Lola asks me.

I work at the coffee shop on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

"Nothing really. I'm just confused about Matt that's all."

"Matt?" She looks confused.

"The new kid."

"Oh the one who gets on your nerves?"

"The same one."

"What happened this time?"

We had little customers around so we weren't really busy.

"This afternoon in school, he walked up to me and when I asked him what he wanted, he said he didn't know. His legs brought him there."

"Really? He said that?"

"Yeah. And then I told him they don't know the way but he said they do know what they want. When I asked him about it, he just walked off."

"Wow. That's confusing."

"I know."

"it's been bothering you since?" She asks and I nod. "Don't let it. Guys like that are always confusing. Don't give yourself a headache because of him." She says and I nod.

"Right." I say and I try to push the thoughts put of my head.

....

I clock out and I say my goodbyes to Lola before I leave.

During weekdays, I work till 7 because I clock in by 3:30.

The evening air was nice and the shop is fifteen minutes ride to my house if I take the bus. But tonight, I wanted to enjoy the air so I start walking home.

It starts to get dark by the time I'm halfway home, so I decided to pass the shortcut.

Stupid right?

The alley is quiet and I can literally hear my heart pounding.

Suddenly I hear someone running towards my direction and I close my eyes in fear. The person hits me and we both fall to the ground.

"Ow." I run my elbow.

"Smallie?"

"Don't call me that." I look up to see Matt standing over me.

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm going home."

"But this is not your route." He looks around and I furrow my eyebrows.

"How-"

''You are not supposed to be here." He pulls me up. "It's dangerous here at night and you know it."

"What are you doing here."

"You don't get to ask the questions. I do."

"You-"

"He couldn't have gone far. Find him!" A gruff voice says and my eyes widen.

"Shit." Matt looks at me and smiles a little.

Oh my god.

"You wanna go for a little adventure smallie?" He asks with a glint in his eyes and I frown.

"Wha-"

"I see him!" Someone shouts.

"No time." He pulls my hand and we start running.

I don't know where we run to or how far we run for, what I do know is that we were going through corners and allies.

Matt didn't let go of my hand through out the whole chase and I was started to get short of breath.

I stop suddenly and that jerks him back a little.

"Why did you stop?" He asks as I was trying to catch my breath.

"Well I don't run everyday so forgive me for trying to take a rest." I snap at him.

"He can't be that far assholes. Find me that fucker!" We hear a voice and Matt looks around before he pulls me in a really dark corner.

He presses my back against a wall and stands directly in front of me. He puts boths his hand at the sides of my head and he then looks me in the eye and I couldn't help but look back.

Luckily we were both wearing black, so the men who were after us passed right beside us.

His eyes were captivating and I couldn't look away.

Right now, there was an emotion swirling in them but I couldn't put a name on it.

"Don't do that." He whispers

"Do what?" I whisper back.

"Bite your lips."

"And why shouldn't I?" I didn't know I was biting them.

"They drive me crazy."

Holy shit.

My eyes widen a little and I see a small smile.

"I can't help it. I bite them when I'm nervous or scared. I don't even notice." I argue trying to block off my rapid beating chest.

"Well try not to."

"Well, what would happen if I don't?"

"You wouldn't want to know smallie."

Something in those words make me gulp and shiver.

In a really good way.

"I think the men are gone now." I say and he pulls away instantly.

"Right. C'mon let's go." He takes my hand and leads me out of there to an entirely different area.

"Where are we?"

"Another route to your house. A safer one at that."

"How do you know where I live?" I ask him and he just shrugs.

"My ways."

"What?"

"You know what I've noticed about you?" He changes the subject.

"What?"

"You ask a lot of questions and I hate that."

"Well forgive me for being curious."

"Curiosity killed the cat."

"Well, I'm no cat. Just Alexis Dalton." I say and he scoff.

"Typical."

We walk in silence to my house and he stops on the road.

"Next time, don't pass shortcuts. Pass the longer routes. They are safer and more crowded. In fact don't even stay out late."

"You can't tell me what to do." I say and he frowns.

I instantly regret it.

His face changes to a cold one.

"You are right."

"I didn't-"

"Goodnight Lexis." He says and walks away.

No one calls me that. Although some call me Lexi, no one calls me Lexis. He really didn't want to call me what others call me.

And I think I like that.

But at the same time, it sounded cold and distant.

Scratch that, I didn't like that name at all.
