Her Alpha, His Queen

"Pack your bags. We're moving." Delilah couldn't count how many times she's moved in her life. It seemed like her mother probably wanted to travel the world. Her father had left them because of her mother's infidelity. It was hard to make friends due to the constant relocation. Her plan was to lie low and make a few acquaintances till she graduates and goes to college. Things take an interesting turn as she meets a gorgeous seemingly normal boy, Harley Kingston, who awoke feelings she's never known before in her. Perhaps it was a sign that life would be normal for her? Not everything is as it seems. Turns out the reason for her father's absence wasn't at all what she was led to believe. Turns out Harley was not a regular boy after all... and he was set on making her his. She is the heir to the throne of a kingdom of problematic weretigers. Things get more complicated as her not-so-lovable grandparents declare themselves sworn enemies of her kind. The fate of a world she thought only exists in books rests on her shoulders. Good thing Delilah Villin isn't one to back down from challenges.

Chapter 1

5 more moves...

Come on, come on...

4 more moves...

Stupid jelly, break!

My alarm clock rang out. I ignored it. I have more important things to tackle here.

3 more moves... Almost there... 5 more jelly...

2 more moves... Come on, come on...

One more move... Almost there, almost-

"Delilah, get up!"

I jumped as my name was yelled. My phone slid from my fingers and fell on my face.

"No no no..." I muttered feverishly as I gingerly checked my phone.

The stupid puppet girl with the stupid sad face and the stupid broken heart greeted me.

I lost.

"NO!" I screamed, burying my face in my pillow. I was so close! So close! I've been trying to beat that Candy Crush level for so long. I was so so close.

"Delilah!"

"I'm up!"

"You better be!"

Oh, Mother, you had no idea what you've just done...

I groaned in frustration and irritation as I peeled myself from my bed. I moodily pulled out some clothes from my closet and placed them on my bed. I headed off to shower, in the hope of washing away yesterday's grime and today's disappointment away.

School is resuming today and I'm not so excited. Perhaps it's partially because my failure at Candy Crush was some kind of bad omen... or maybe it's because I'll see Seth again...

I've been friends with Seth since I moved here, Alaska. He's quite handsome with brown hair that falls to his charming hazel eyes.

You might be wondering why I'm not excited to see my friend. Well, recently, Seth has been trying to get me to date him. He wants us to be more than friends and I so don't want that. He'd ask me out, I'd tell him I want us to stay as friends then he would always find a way to make me agree to think about it. He's also been a bit forceful about it lately.

There's nothing to think about. I don't like Seth that way but I don't want to hurt his feelings. He's basically the only person I care about..besides my mum, that is.

Mum... where should I start? She's an incredibly gorgeous woman. With her graceful blond locks that cascaded down her back and her enchanting blue eyes, she could really wow a crowd. She looks like royalty and she even acts like it. She walks and talks with elegance. She has this regal gait and she basically knows all the table manners there is in the entire world. She's almost always correcting me on something. It's like :

"Delilah, no slouching at the table." or "For God's sake, don't chase after your spoon. Instead, bring the spoon to yourself."

Even when we're walking or talking or just hanging out, she'd find one or two things to correct me about. But I know she does those things out of love.

And I love her. I love how the wind whips her hair around when she's driving and how she'll flawlessly brush the strands away. I love how her blue eyes sparkle when she laughs. I love how she gets me. I love how sometimes, she treats me as a friend instead of a daughter. I love her very much.

My father? I have no idea who he is or what happened to him. All Mum says is that she cheated on him and they got a divorce. She never says more than that. I wonder why she cheated. I guess he has moved on and is too busy with his new family to remember me...

Oh well...

For some weird reason, Mum and I have been moving a lot. We would get to a new place and already be comfortable when she'd just tell me to pack my stuff and get ready to move. Each time I complain, she'd tell me that was the last time we would move.

It never was.

And also, my grandparents. They're a headache. They always want to know about everything in my life. They are also snobbish and rude. I detest them. Mum doesn't like them too but hates refusing them. There was one time they came to visit. I was at school when they came over. By the time I got back, all the clothes in my closet were replaced with dresses, frilly pastel dresses. My grandmother then smiled and told me that the clothes in my wardrobe were ugly so she changed them. She claimed she couldn't let my plebeian ways come out in public. Mum too was pissed but Grandfather told her to keep quiet since she was just a child and didn't know much.

The crazy pair changed my room decor and rearranged everything. I was so pissed. I had to plead with them before I could get my things back. The two have done a lot of other things but I don't even want to think about them right now. They also seemed to loathe their daughter for reasons I don't know. They're jerks.

Now, me:

My name is Delilah Villin. I was born in Britain but moved to the US with my mom when I was seven years old. I have jet black hair, thanks to my dad, and cool grey eyes, also thanks to my dad. I am to be 16 on the 31st of October.

Most people would describe me as aloof. It's not my fault. I just hate socializing. Till now, I don't know how Seth became my friend. People at school know me as the girl that doesn't talk much or the girl with the permanent scowl on her face. People tend to avoid me, even boys. I'm pretty, actually but my attitude is the repellent... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

As soon as I was done with showering, I towel-dried myself then put my clothes on. My clothes? The usual: thick black hoodie, black skinny jeans, black hiking boots. That's basically my uniform. I wear this everyday. I basically have a million black hoodies in my closet. And I do have an excuse to wear them. It's pretty cool here.

When I was done dressing, I brushed my waist length hair and pulled my hoodie over it. I wanted my hair in a pixie cut but Mum talked me out of it. She had been paying attention to the grooming of my hair and couldn't bear to see it being cut.

I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs.

By the time I got to the dinning table, a plate of scrambled eggs and toast was waiting for me. Awesome. And three pairs of forks and knives. Oh God...

"Good morning, Delilah." Mum said, daintily sipping her tea. "Have a seat."

I sighed and took a seat. Mum kept staring at me with an eyebrow raised. I raised mine back at her.

"What?" I asked impatiently.

She then jerked her head at my schoolbag. Of course...

I placed my bag on the floor beside my chair. Mum then nodded in approval.

"Good." She commented. "Now, what do you see before you?"

I sighed. I'm so not in the mood for this right now.

"A plate of scrambled eggs and toast."

"Good. So which pair of cutlery do you use to eat that?"

I moodily stared at the forks and knives.

"This one." I said, pointing at the set on my extreme left.

"Good. Eat."

I grabbed the fork and knife and properly positioned my hands. Mum nodded in approval.

I was able to finish my breakfast without any corrections. That's a first.

I picked up my bag and proceeded to go wait by her car outside when she cleared her throat.

"Delilah, dear, I won't be taking you to school today."

I turned to face her. "Why?"

"A lovely young man is going to take you instead."

No no no, please no.

"Who is it?" I grinded out.

"Seth."

I winced. Just what I needed.

I waved at her and turned to go out again.

"And Delilah?"

"Yes Mum?" Please, no more bad news.

"Your grandparents are coming to visit."

This is gonna be a great day. Not.
