The largest building in the northeast of Yancheng is the residence of the Hengshan Sect of the Five Sacred Mountains.
Constructed on the highest terrain within the city perched upon a low hill, the pavilions cannot be described as majestic, nor are they grandly luxurious, yet they possess a unique charm with their vermilion gates, green tiles extending northward, and finely carved beams and painted eaves that exude a solemn and ancient elegance.
Ascending the steps, there are sword-engraved stone carvings of rustic grassy scenes with fishermen, misty peaks after rain, and clear skies with melting snow over the ridges.
These belong to the Eight Scenic Views of Hengzhou.
Further ahead stand two stone lions guarding the mountain gate, behind which flora thrives amidst the wild, and towering trees spread their dense foliage.
To the left is an ancient ginkgo tree, and to the right is another.
