To Run Away

"I can't believe what I just witnessed. What the hell was that?!" Exclaimed a terrified Layla without slowing down her pace.

"I know, just keep on crawling Layla. The sooner we get to the others, the sooner we can tell them and get the hell out of this place." I explained, Layla seemed to take my explanation and turned it into her inspiration to crawl faster. I had to pick up my pace, fearing that she might bump into my butt even if I slowed my pace for a second.

We didn't care about being and staying silent anymore, we just want to get the others and leave Hellviana.

"What the hell? Is it just me or there's someone inside those vents." A baritone-voiced man, probably one of those black-armored guards, asked what sounds like his companion. Unfortunately, there were no grates that we can see through to determine how many guards he's with.

"Are you sure? Or are you just messing with me again?" Another voice spoke but as we continue to crawl their voices became vague and unhearable.

"Don't mind them, just keep on crawling," I advised Layla.

"What if they shoot? Or call for backup and alert the whole building? We have to deal with them now Zion!" She replied and raised an alarming what-if situation. She was right we have to deal with these guards before everything spirals out of control.

Thinking fast, I stopped and quickly moved aside hoping that Layla will not bump into my behind. She quickly stopped herself as she saw me, I looked at her and then took in some huge breaths.

"Fine, we'll deal with them or him, depending on the number of guards there are." I finally declared. Layla was very pleased about this, her eyes were filled with contentment, she was as if saying in her eyes "You made the right choice" as she nodded confidently.

Without wasting any other seconds, Layla gracefully swayed her right hand and controlled the sweat she exerted from crawling earlier. Her sweat droplets gracefully danced out of her body and followed her hand, forming a good amount of sweat that can be used as her weapon.

"Whatever you do, don't let your ability go haywire. Control and harness it." Layla warned, I nodded sternly but deep inside I was nervous and scared. If I screw up, we might be in danger.

Seeing that I looked confident, Layla smiles and swiftly jerked her hand towards the metal vents. Her sweat quickly sliced the vent into pieces and created a hole large enough for us to go through.

Down below we saw six guards waiting for us and holding their electric batons, they used for enforcing their authority and the authority of the school. I quickly glanced at Layla and saw her cracking her neck as she prepares herself for a fight.

"You take the left batch and I'll take the right one." She instructed but before I could even react to it, she quickly jumped down and landed on top of a muscular man. She quickly used her ability and pushed the other three guards aside.

"I'm guessing those are my people to deal with," I remarked inside my head. Without wasting any moment, I jumped down and into the rumble below, but as I landed the walls started to shake and consulted violently. At first, I thought I can create another massive gargoyle again but to my surprise, it was instead a giant three-headed serpent with scorpion legs and three sharp-bladed tails.

"What in the world is that!" A petite guard with blond hair called out, pointing at the monster a suddenly created.

The three now distracted guards took out their futuristic guns and fired at the creature. I looked and wondered why their guns were firing electricity and not metal bullets and then it hit me. They didn't want us dead because we were the ones that succeeded in their tests. We were like valuable gems to them, irreplaceable and important people for their plans.

This realization puts me at ease, they can't lay a single finger on us! This makes our plan of escaping the school, a little bit easier knowing there are no lethal threats whatsoever.

"Zion! Stay focus on the fight in front of you! Remember that your emotions affect the intensity of your ability!!" Layla yelled and made me snap back into reality. I looked at her and saw her effortlessly knocked out a guard with a single kick.

I finally was out in my dazed state and refocused my attention on my fight, it was just in time to avoid the petite blond guard and her electric baton. I quickly dodged out of the way and the baton instead landed on the floor creating a loud metal smack that hurt my ears for a second. I glanced at my serpent and saw it busy fighting the other, more dangerous and muscular guards than the petite blond black widow I'm facing.

"You act quick little boy, I was surprised at how quick your reflexes acted that I was actually impressed." The petite blond guard suddenly commented. Her voice was stiff and sounded like she has a Russian accent which actually made me happy to know that she is a blond black widow.

"Cut the small talk blond black widow." I snapped, the comment actually worked and made her let her guard down. She was wide open for an attack.

"Who?" She asked, confused as to who the black widow was. But before she could recover and go back to defensive, I ran up to her and jumped in the air. I was surprised by my speed that I almost crashed into the wall, is this yet another one of my random ability? Super speed?

As I jump in the air, I was somehow back on the ground and was instead sliding down and in between her legs.

"This isn't right, I was just up in the air! What the hell?" I said to myself as I continue to slide.

I passed her and ended up at her back with a lot of questions inside my head, but as I look up there I was, floating in the air ready to kick this blond black widow in the face. I looked around confused as to what the hell was happening, but I soon found out that nobody was moving. The guards, the blond black widow, Layla herself, and even my serpent were stuck in place.

"Hello? Layla? What's going on!" I yelled, hoping that somehow they'll move again and everything will be back. but nothing happened, they were all stuck and not moving!

Out of nowhere, a blinding flash of white light appeared right in front of me, the light was too bright that I had to close it and cover my eyes with my hands to protect it. The light slowly went away and when I thought it was gone, I slowly opened my eyes.

"What on earth is this," I mumbled.

In front of me are what looks like monitors or screens compressed to each other to create a collection of monitors in front of me. The monitors slowly turned on one by one and inside those monitors are the different versions of myself. Each of these versions of myself has their own unique ways of dealing with the situation they're in. Some straight-up killed the guards in one swoop, some knocked them out and some were knocked out or were killed by the guards. Each made their decision and has their outcome and consequences because of the decision they made.

I looked around to see if I have a monitor of myself, my eyes landed on a monitor at the center. This monitor was black and has nothing in it, the screen's blackness reflected my reflection. I saw myself in it and I realized that this was actually my reality.

"Wait, reality? Reality!" I exclaimed as I noticed something. If what I'm thinking was right, then it would make everything makes sense, my random ability, the connection of my quirk and my emotion, and the reason why it took me so long to discover my quirk.

My assumption was proven right as I saw every single version of myself looked at me in the eye, even the dead ones. I discovered my ability late because I didn't realize it all this time. My ability isn't wacko, nor it's broken. The different versions of myself all confirm internally that my special ability is to see, control, and possibly manipulate space, reality, and time.
