Into The Maze: First Threat

We've been walking in the maze for about thirty minutes and nothing has happened, there were no signs of people in sight, no obstacles, not even those monsters they warned us about earlier. There was nothing but the empty pathway, and the constant walking.

"Maybe they wanted to tire us out. Maybe that's their plan, and when we're tired from all of this walking and heat, they'll unleash a crazy situation or a huge bloodthirsty monster right in front of us and kill us, eat our insides and wait for another poor soul." Octavia blabbered nonstop, I always forgot how talkative she'll be once she's bored and has nothing to do. She continued to talk and talk as we head further into the maze, we all ignored her anyways, it might be mean but it's honestly the best we can do, we were all tense and on high alert, since the moment we entered this maze.

"Octavia, there are three choices of pathways, where to next?" Theo questioned the bored Octavia who was behind and slumping as she walks towards us. She grunted and placed her hand onto the metallic walls. She closed her eyes intently, just like what I saw earlier as Jessie controlled the leaf up in the air, Octavia's veins popped out of her skin but this time her skin turned metallic, and her veins turned to what looks like metal cuts. I stood there, completely in awe as I watch Octavia work. Moments later she opened her eyes, and her skin instantly went back to its original form. She looked at the three pathways in front.

"Right side." She announced with little enthusiasm. We all nodded and took the ride side path.

"Wait, do you guys smell that?" James suddenly said, stopping us dead in our tracks. We all smelled the air and there it was. The smell of something or someone's dead body pierced my nose, I had to pinch my nose to avoid smelling the stench.

"We-We need to keep moving. Let's go." Stuttered Theo, he too was pinching his nose from the stench. Having no choice but to keep moving forward, we kept walking. It was a nightmare, the more we walk further, the stench kept on growing, more unbearable, it was as if we were getting closer to its source.

"Holy sh-" Jessie suddenly stop dead on her tracks, I had to stop myself to avoid bumping on to her.

"What? What's going on?" I asked her. she didn't answer, but she just simply raised her hand and pointed at a direction using her index finger. We all looked at the direction Jessie pointed, my eyes couldn't believe what I just witnessed. There, on the left side of the pathway, in a little slit of the walls, the bodies of our fellow Hellvanian Elite and Extraordinaire was located. Some are dangling, hanging in a what looks like a hook, some are just lying on the floor and some are plastered on the walls like its some sick trophy. I could see the guts and internal organs out of its body. I winced and promptly looked away, I couldn't bear the sight and its brutality.

"Let's-Let's keep moving..." Theo hesitated, he bowed down to the corpses as I sign of respect and he continued walking, we followed him soon after. I noticed him clenching his fists.

"Do you think that those bodies were those monsters' doing?" Octavia opened up a conversation.

"Well, what do you think did all of that?" Jessie replied.

"I dunno, maybe they took that path hoping it was a short cut and ended up being a victim to a booby-trap?" Octavia commented.

"Oh my god, Octavia can you just shu-"

"LOOK OUT!" Theo promptly yelled at the girls as a huge hand smash on the ground. I looked above and saw a white furry beast with four eyes and a sharp set of teeth, he was massive, probably about ten feet high, and its body was bulky like it just came out of the gym. It let out a loud growl and continued to use its large hands to smash the ground in hopes to crush us. We dodge out of the way and the white monster's hands met the ground, the impact created a relatively large crater.

"Move your butt and run!" Theo yelled at Jessie as he helps her to stand. We ran as fast as we can, Octavia touched the walls and used her quirk to help us make the right turns.

"We can't run forever Theo! We have to fight and kill this thing before it kills all of us!" I called out to Theo.

"I know! Just give me time to think of a plan!" He replied back. We turned left and at that moment we were tired of running. We stop out of breath.

"Okay, I have a plan." Theo started, we all gathered around him, we can already hear the monster coming closer towards us.

"Jess see those vines? Control them and keep the monster at bay." Theo instructed Jessie, she looked at the vines and touched it. She began using her quirk.

"Octavia, take out some metal scraps, and stab this beast in the eye to blind him." Theo said to Octavia, she quickly turn around and looked at the metal walls. She extended her arm and the wall started to vibrate and moments later a piece of a metal detached from the wall.

"James you and I will work together, I'll generate enough oxygen for your fire. We'll burn this motherf..." Instructed Theo to James, James nodded in agreement and quickly moved to his position. Theo looked at me and hesitated to say something.

"I'll be on the sidelines, don't worry." I said, he let out a small sigh and nodded. Everyone is in place and is ready to kill this monster. After a few seconds, the monster appeared and charged towards us, its eyes are filled with hunger.

"....Now!" Theo declared. Octavia was the first one to move, she launched her metal shrapnel into the beast's eyes, blinding him, it let out an ear-piercing scream of pain. Jessie, then, quickly and swiftly intertwined the vines on the beast's body, stopping it in its track. She tightened the grip of the vine causing the beast to let out a huge roar. The now blind monster struggled to break free.

"I-I can't keep this guy at bay forever. Kill it now!" Jessie ordered. James and Theo nodded.

James and Theo teamed up and created a huge fire tornado that immediately engulfed the beast.

"I think we have ourselves some dinner." Theo joked as he continued to fan James' fire. I laughed at his joke, but in the corner of my eye, I noticed something. A hand, much bigger than the hand of the previous beast. It was another monster coming towards us. I froze in fear. How come we didn't notice this one before? Did it magically appear out of thin air? I looked at my friends but none of them seem to know that there's another monster charging right at us. I couldn't possibly face this one alone, I don't even know if I'm gifted with extraordinary abilities just like them! I have to tell them.

"GUYS WE HAVE A SITUA-" I stop mid-talking as I saw yet another monster, but this one was already reaching towards them. I was instantly reminded by the dead Hellvanians we saw earlier. If I don't do something they'll be crushed by this monster and die right in front of me, but what would I do?

"You should call out to them! Yell "GUYS LOOK OUT?!" and hopefully they notice?" A voice said. I was about to do that when yet another voice disagreed.

"It's too late, by the time you finished yelling, they're already dead." It said.

"Then what should I do then?!" I called out to the voices.

"There's only one way you can do to save your friends, leave them be. Save yourself, and run away. Grab Octavia if you can, she's useful." The second voice instructed.

"What?! No, you can't do that! They're YOUR friends! You promised to each other that no one's gonna die today." The first voice protested.

"Don't give me the morality talk. What can he possibly do? He doesn't even know if he's gifted. He's useless. It would be a miracle if he manages to pull out a 180 and somehow be able to find his quirk and use it to save his friends." The second voice is on to something. I have two choices, run away to save myself and let my friends die, or at least try to find my quirk at this moment, and hopefully save my friends.

I hurriedly closed my eyes. "Feel yourself, Zion, feel your quirk, and find it. I know you're gifted like them. You just have to search for it. Open the floodgates and let out your potential!"

I opened my eyes to find my hand raised, I somehow raised them while I was closing my eyes. My friends looked at me and looked at their surroundings, they finally saw the two other monsters.

"What's going on? Zion?" James asked I can see worriedness in his face. I looked at the three monsters. My friends completely overkilled the first one, all I can see of it is a burnt body, the monster that was reaching for them froze in place and the one charging right towards us stopped mid-running as if time froze. I can feel something oozing out of my nose, using my other hand, I wipe it clean.

Is that blood? Am I doing my quirk right now?

I somehow decided to close my fist, I didn't know why but it was as if someone told me to close it and in a matter of seconds, the two remaining monsters exploded. Their blood and guts scattered everywhere, some even got onto my face.

"I... I think I just used my quirk..." I stuttered, completely dumbfounded about everything that happened. My friends were all frozen in place, they too were just as surprised as me.
