30 Brothers

The night was cold and silent but it isn't just like a typical cold and silent night in the middle of October. This time, the night is bitterly cold, painfully quiet. Not even the crickets made noise nor the frogs near the lake. It was only me, my friends, and Ryker who was in the middle of telling his story, both his and mine and ours.

"Let me tell your history first, dear brother. After that I'll quickly tell mine and how I got here before the sun rises," Ryker announced just before he starts his storytelling. My friends, now intrigued, moved closer to us and sat down either on the grass or on the remaining space of the bench where Ryker, James, and I were seated.

"Good, this handsome face right here needs all the beauty sleep it gets." Theo joked but no one seemed to acknowledge his presence, all of our attention is glued to Ryker.

"You, dear brother, is the son of the elite of the elites named Zain and Kate Dunamis. They are the blueprint in the business industry. Unfortunately, everything they worked hard on came crashing down when they had you and me." Ryker started. He pointed at himself and me.

"W-what do you mean?" I asked.

"What did we do?"

"We were supposed to die at birth, you were supposed to die after birth and I was supposed to die mid-birth, yet we're still here, unfortunately living as super-powered mistakes. Our very existence is a mistake." He declared, making my self-esteem plummet.

"Dang, that's a little harsh don't you think?" Jessie interrupted but Ryker just brushed it off and continued his storytelling.

"But our parents didn't want us to die, so to prevent us from crossing the great beyond. Mom and Dad made a deal with a powerful demon Adon Olam or the Master of the World to resurrect us but with the price of their fortune and later when I suffered the same fate, their souls." He explained.

"That explains your demon form at the school Zion," James whispered to me. I nodded in agreement.

"Oh, so you can turn into demons? Dang, your a little ahead of me." Ryker suddenly said, catching what James whispered even though James whispered it so lightly, I almost couldn't understand what he was saying. He looked at me excitedly, as if I was his idol and we're now meeting for the first time. I, on the other hand, shook my head no.

"It was an accident Ryker, and to be honest, I don't even know how I transform into that demonic form in the first place," I said to him but his excited look didn't fade away when I burst the bubble and told him the truth.

"Okay, let's not steer away from our main purpose here guys. I seriously need that sleep as soon as possible." Theo demanded. Ryker nodded and continued.

"This agreement granted our lives and our special abilities also some other key factors that are uncomfortable to discuss especially in front of you guys." He said, looking away at the last moment.

The others demanded Ryker to tell them what our other quirks are. Jessie quickly stood up and looked at Ryker. She folded her arms sassily and said to Ryker, "Uncomfortable is not in our group dictionary. We're so close, we even take a bath together if we have time. We're open-minded Ryker, so don't worry about us."

"If you say so." Ryker sighed.

"Above all else, we can't get sick or get burn. Minor wounds heal but not the major ones like a lost limb or a hole through the head. Lastly, and the most uncomfortable of them all, we don't grow pubes and our members are long. There you happy?" He huffed.

A couple of chuckles was let out by my friends as they heard that information, while they were laughing, I on the other hand was on the sidelines and completely silent. I may have the ability to transform or become a demon monster but my friends are the real demons in most cases and I don't want to get teased by them so I just kept my mouth shut for the meantime.

"Okay, that's hilarious and disturbing but kinda cool at the same time, now that I've thought about it." Colt suddenly spoke. Ryker looks at him and scrunches his face.

"Can we move on? We're running out of time here." I spoke up to quickly end the awkward sudden sub-conversation Ryker started.

"When you, brother, was resurrected by Adon Olam, mom and dad's business plummeted. They went back to square one and when you started to show your quirks, they just gave up and gave you to the Hellviana in hopes to help you harness your power." Ryker said.

"Unfortunately they suffered the same fate when they had me, but little did they know, my existence was the final nail on their coffin. They died a month later I was resurrected. Their bodies were dried of blood and their organs were outside of their body." He added grimly.

When I finally got out of that damn school, all I ever wanted to do was to find them and hopefully be reunited with them. At that time, when I heard from Jessie that a random kid said that we were siblings, a part of me was happy and hopeful that if he was my brother, we could team up to find our parents and when we do, we would start a new life with them, at peace. I guess this dream was just a dream.

"Are you really sure that they're dead?" I asked Ryker, I clung to the little hope that he was just kidding or he's somehow wrong.

Ryker's face dropped, he shook his head and said, "I'm sorry, Zion."

"Wait, isn't your power Zion is to change reality? Why not do your quirk and change the fate of your parents?" Jessie proposed an idea. It's a good idea, but even I know that crossing the boundaries of life and death and changing it is a bad idea.

"He can, but cheating death, especially an agreement between a human and a demon is stupid and can cause a lot of trouble to the reality and to Zion." Ryker declared.

I perked up, suddenly interested to know what the consequences are. I hesitantly asked Ryker about this, saying, "W-what trouble? Can you tell me what these consequences are?"

"Well, there are a lot of things that will backfire at you, like creating a reality that kills you and the one you're trying to bring back from the dead or making that demon angry at you so, so angry that he would take away your life. The most dangerous of all is that you might cause a catastrophic rift in the space and time that you might bring madness to the multiverse, Scarlet Witch style." Ryker answered. Conforming my assumptions about it.

"So, basically, what you're trying to say is that if Zion suddenly snaps, and he can no longer control his demon gifted power, he can just destroy all realities easy peasy?" Olivia summarised what Ryker said into digestible pieces of information.

"Basically, yes. However, these are just my assumptions. I might be wrong, but knowing Zion's abilities so far, that possibility isn't far off from reality." Ryker confirmed.

All of my friends went silent for a second, taking all the information about my quirk slowly. I was no more different than them, a sudden fear and burden were placed on my shoulders. If I messed up even for a second, I might destroy every reality and everyone living in it.

Layla, who was silent for the most part of the conversation, sat down beside me and held my hand. I looked at her and saw her softly smiling at me. She later rests her head on my shoulder and whispered softly at me, saying, "I know you're feeling stressed right now, knowing what you can do. Just relax, I'm here for you. We all are."

"I know," I whispered back.

"Okay mad lads, I think I'll be going now." Ryker suddenly announced. He got up and was about to use his quirk and jump into the shadows when I stood up and spoke out.

"Wait, you haven't told us how you got out of Hellviana and found us yet." I stopped him.

Ryker turns around and said with a gummy smile, "I found out who you were and who I was when I snooped around the building. Later, when I found out that we were going into a maze to fight to the death, I sneaked out and followed your scent which was very strong in the laundry room."

Before I could ask him yet another set of questions raised by what he just told us, he quickly jumped into the shadows and vanished without a trace. We waited a couple of minutes for him to come back, but eventually, we grew tired of waiting and called it a night and went on to our places to sleep.
