60 Put in motion

Evening came soon and after eating dinner, it was time for Queen to leave.

"You seem alright now." Queen stretched up on her toes to touch his forehead before nodding satisfactorily.

"It was only a slight fever anyway." Quince said with his usual non expression.

"And over exhaustion. Your mother told me you had been over working yourself." Queen looked at him disapprovingly.

"I'm alright now. Thank you for your help Miss Vancroft." Quince dismissed her words before thanking her.

Queen thought it was gentlemanly of him not to blame her for his lack of sleep. After all she played a big role in exhausting him when she executed her plan on his cruise.

But there was something she didn't quite like in his sentence.

"You know, I have been finding that annoying for quite sometime now." Queen narrowed her eyes at him.

Quince had a very subtle change in his expression when he heard that. He wasn't sure what she was talking about.

"What do you mean Miss Vancroft?" He asked.

"That!" Queen replied in frustration,"Miss Vancroft! I have a name!"

"Yes I know you do." Quince paused and said matter of factly,"Miss Vancroft."

"You're impossible!" Queen looked at him with anger in her eyes. He was definitely doing it on purpose!

Quince's eyes were twinkling at her reaction but he continued playing dumb.

"I beg your pardon Miss Vancroft." Quince gave her a simple apology, looking like he had no idea what she meant.

Queen was originally fuming fire but her plan suddenly came to her. She cooled down considerably as she thought of what she planned to do.

She returned to her usual devil may care attitude and smiled sweetly at him instead.

Alarms were ringing in Quince's head as he looked at her suspiciously. He knew that normally she would have found a way to get even with him.

But she didn't. Which was very unlike her.

"What are you up to?" Quince crossed his arms and asked her immediately.

"What?" Queen had a look of innocent surprise on her face. Quince knew better by now not to trust her seemingly innocent facade.

"You are acting out of her character." Quince said bluntly. He was never one to dodge an issue after all.

Queen let out an airy laughter and hit him lightly on his arm.

"Don't be ridiculous Master Quince! You are so suspicious."

"You didn't try to get even with me. There is something wrong with this scenario." Quince said with an icy expression on his face.

'Look icy all you want smelly cat, this lady here won't break.' Queen thought evilly but she had the look of hurt on her face.

"Can't I be the bigger person and decide to move on?" Queen replied as disbelief colored her tone. She was trying to portrayed how unfair he was being.

Seeing that, even though Quince knew she was up to something, he decided to drop the issue.

"Alright then. Goodnight Miss Vancroft."

"See you at our families' dinner." Queen said with a smile and turned to leave.

"Wait." Quince said and Queen turned back to look at him with confusion in her eyes.

"I don't have your contact information." Quince said simply before getting his cellphone out of his pocket. It was the latest edition available in the market.

"Are you asking for my number Master Quince?" Queen said with a charming smile on her face.

"Yes, I am." Quince said in his neutral tone.

Queen tilted her head slightly and replied,"You can have it but you must know that I'm already engaged."

"Yes and the person you are engaged to is asking for your number." Quince stared at her icily. His tone freezing the atmosphere that surrounded them and Queen loved it.

She succeeded in teasing him after all.

"So demanding~ Are you like that in general as well?" Queen said in a slightly playful tone to which Quince ignored.

She then pulled her phone out as well. It was the same model as his. They exchanged phone numbers and various other information.

"Alright then~ I'm leaving Master Quince. My driver's here." Queen said to Quince and gave Cream Puff a pat on his head before leaving.

"Let me know when you're home." Quince nodded before opening the door for her.

"Mm okay~" Queen said and went to sit in the car. Quince watched the car drove off his sight, away to her destination.

He texted one of his body guard to tail her home. He wasn't trying to be a stalker but he was simply worried about her. It was already dark outside.

If there was any emergency on the way, at least there would be someone he trusted who could help her and report to him.

Quince walked in his house and went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. The peaceful house that he lived in now seemed too quiet for him. It was eerily silent and the warm atmosphere from before disappeared along with the person that just left.

Quince was surprised by his feelings yet again when it came to her. Cream Puff walked over to rub his face against his leg and Quince lifted the dog up in his arms.

"You miss her too?" Quince asked and played with Cream Puff for a while.

After that he went over to his study room and got a few documents out. As he was reading, he suddenly received a text message on his phone.

The sender was 'Little girl':

"I'm home-Q"

It was a short message and Quince suddenly felt disappointed as he realized that he wanted to hear her warm and sweet voice instead.

Thinking that, he tried calling her but her phone was busy. 'Whom could she be talking to?' Quince wondered and he was instantly plunged into a bad mood.

On Queen's side:

"So that's everything that happened today. Please don't worry, Quince is certainly doing well." Queen reported happily.

"That's such a relief Reine! I'm so glad you are his fiancée." Madam Monique or Quince's mom said over the phone.

"So am I!" Queen replied before saying,"Madam, there is a slight thing I need your help with."

"What is it Reine? Just let me know!" Madam Monique replied instantly. Anything for her beloved daughter in law!

"Well...." Queen said before telling Madam about what she wanted to do.

"Oh! That is such a terrific idea Reine! I'm so happy you are willing to go this far for him." Madam Monique said, happiness shining in her eyes.

"It's the least I could do Madam." Queen said with a soft genuine voice which contradicted with the evil smile on her face.

"Don't worry my dear! It shall be done." Madam Monique replied immediately.

They chatted for a few more minutes before finally hanging up. It was a good thing she did because her battery went out the next moment.

"Shoot!" Queen exclaimed and went to charge her phone. She was in high spirits as she thought of her plan.

'Smelly cat, smelly cat~ see you soon.' Queen laid on her bed happily with an evil smile on her face.
