Samael stared at the diagnostics screen for his suit, Durandal. Samael was familiar with the story tied to the naming of his suit. He was fond of the engineer's choice and meaning.
A weapon against evil that was once wielded by the greatest holy warrior in history. Roland, Paladin of the great King Charlemagne.
Samael stroked the stencil'd name on his suit, the nostalgia washing over him.
"...What the hell?"
Lilith turned from the missile pod attachment she was almost done installing on her suit. The ammo cases near-by made clanking noises as they shook on the floor.
Soon after, thousands of screams tore through the even the sound proofing of the shipping container.
"...this isn't good. It seems like a powerful demon has used summoning magic on all of the undead in the city."
Lilith frowned.
"...what are we looking at in terms of numbers?"
Samael thought for a moment, the laughed.
"Probably 10's of thousands at the most optimistic figure. Hundreds of thousands if our luck is decent enough."
Lilith paled a bit at his response.
"What are you obnoxiously calm and cheery while giving bad news?"
She went back to work loading the missile pods, increasing her pace by more than double.
"...hmm. The suit only has the basic armaments. It's going to take a couple hours to install a basic strike kit. I'm going to have to rely on the heavy weapons and booby traps to buy us time as we make it to the spaceport. Lucky Lilith managed to already be nearly done with installing the pods on her gear, so that should help immensely."
He quickly made a plan of action and hurried to put in place as Lilith loaded her pods with anti-personnel missiles.
Within 10 minutes, he had already reorganized the claymore traps in a more spread out formation all around the storage container. He adjusted the scope to allow a general direction for them to head while slowing down the undead that were approaching from all over, quickly.
He quickly wiped out the first wave of undead thanks to the use of his Durandal suit enhancing his combat effectiveness while using martial techniques, increasing his stamina hundreds of times over.
With a flick of his wrist, he and crush the heads of the undead as if they were papermache. Adding in his close and medium combat weapons, he could kill dozens of the rotting corpses in mere moments.
"I've finished. The Cerberus units were already loaded with their Thorium cores, so that allowed to me to pack up at least 80 percent of the armaments. We should head off."
Lilith's voice had some urgency as she talked to Sam via his suits built in quantum communications system, the pride of communications tech that allowed for communication at any distance, so long as you have the quantum state of a specific particle tuned in.
The sounds of an explosion going off in the distance and several screams rang out. The first wave of claymore trap had gone off, wiping out well over 100 undead in just the first wave.
"Shit. They got here faster than I expected. Head down this ally way. Everywhere else has traps. Just worry about firing forward for now. I'll handle the next, few waves."
Lilith nodded as she issued orders to the Cerberus units to move out.
Several more explosions rang out every 3 minutes or so from various sides as they made their way forward.
Lilith unloaded several grenades into packs of undead that sprinted forward. Their innards burned up before striking the walls of near-by buildings. Samael fired rounds from an anti-material rifle he pulled from one of the Cerberus units at individual undead that survived the explosives.
A massive explosion rang out from behind, windows shattering all around them from the shockwave.
"That was the last line! Head on without me. I'll hold them off to buy you time to find a transport ship and load the gear."
Lilith hesitated, not wanting to back down from a good fight, but survival was a priority. To survive, they needed to have the gear they requisitioned.
"Okay, no problem. Try not to die."
She immediately fired up her thrusters and launched herself forward, plowing through any remnant undead. The Cerberus units did the same, following after closely.
Screams rang out as glass shattered from near-by buildings. Hundreds of undead poured out like cockroaches from doors, windows, and other openings. Many falling from 2 floors up and above, landing and breaking legs. They crawled along as the more intact corpses sprinted toward Samael.
Samael smiled. With a breath, he fired up the thrusters in his suit's feet and back. He expertly used the momentum to launch out a black ball that penetrated through lines of undead. The ball slowed as the flesh is tore through stole it's momentum.
Samael wasn't worried, with the flick of his wrist a line leading to the ball glimmered in the red sunlight that Mars was famous for. The glimmer was that of a mono-molecular wire made of densely packed nano-tubes.
The wire was visible due to the thickness of the wire only being mono-molecular at two points, much like a very long, double-sided straight razor.
The ball that had held taut due to reaching the max length of the wire immediately fired off to the right. The wire passed though thousands of undead heads and necks with no resistence, finally being pulled back to Samael with the help of a special winding feature to draw back the wire.
Though he made it look easy, skill was needed to ensure the right sides were used for cutting, or the wire would eventually become entangled with the dead. Also the use of set angles to allow gravity to do it's job was needed, as the cut materials will be held together via mechanical stress.
Heads fell in unison with a slight delay. The bodies walked around for moments before falling, too.
Using the inertia of the returning ball, Samael spun around launching a what looks to be 5 strips of tape, from his suit's toes. Though not as long as the wire, they still reached out to around 10 meters.
An electric charge ran through the material, causing the tape to become riggid. It tore through the zombies to the left side with minimal resistance, many of whole fell in multiple chunks. The material was very close to monomolecular, but not quite there. Another experimental weapon provided to his exosuit, soft shape-memory plastic that becomes dense once an electric charge is run through the material.
The material went flaccid and was immediately drawn back into his suit's foot storage. In a matter of only seconds, he wiped out over 2000 of the undead. He quickly used his thrusters again, moving backwards.
The next wave of undead didn't hesitate to sprint forward like rotting banshees. If they were alive and had more intelligence, they would have noticed the dozen incindiary grenades that laid at their feet.
Lilith sighed when she heard the loud explosion that beat out the rest at this point. She could feel the heat of the blast even half a kilometer away.

"Holy shit! This guy is no joke. Look at him go...damn. He already took out four or five thousand of those rotting turds and it's only been about 4 minutes since they broke through his last claymore trap."
The Leviathan demon gulped, remembering he had the catch the guy alive.
"God, I hate Asmodeus."
The demon started to enchant his scales with hardening spells and slapped on quick regeneration curse tags onto himself.
