The "special abilities" are the ones they got through their stasis, unrelated to what they inherited from their bloodline.

These could be spoilers if you want to dive into the story blind.

I won't dive into the abilities of the most important characters, though. Only on the others, that are also important, but not like those, in a sense of magic, because theirs are more common than those I will keep quiet about.
