The academy's ranks

Raena had already decided to make the most of her new life, even if it meant climbing the ranks; she didn't want to stand out, but she would if necessary.

'What in the world are the rankings?' Raena sighed, knowing that life at the academy would be difficult and akin to hell.

[Master, would you like to know what the academy's rankings are?]

"Yes, please," She responded.

[The rankings within this academy are the strongest and most difficult to obtain; I will list them from highest to lowest, which are:]

[10 - Academy Overlord]

[9 - Trancendent]

[8 - Ascendent]

[7 - Sage]

[6 - Sorcerer]

[5 - Wizard]

[4 - Magister]

[3 - Meister]

[2 - Adept]

[1 - Initiate]

[Note: The name of the ranking does not imply how strong an individual is, but rather how their growth is.]

'I understand now,' Raena thought as Kyla tapped her on the shoulder, causing her to flinch, then smile at the girl.

"Sorry, I was just thinking about something," She apologized and Kyla smiled.

"It's fine; have you seen everything you wanted to see, or are you going to look around some more?" Kyla inquired.

"I'm not going to look around any longer, I've seen enough for now, but I'm curious, maybe I'll like it here," She replied to which the girl smirked.

"I hope you do, I think it'd be nice to have you around, and I hope we end up in the same class," She said and Raena smiled at her.

"Perhaps we will, but what kind of class will we have first?" Raena inquired, and Kyla sighed.

"Last year for the third years, it was summoning, I'm not sure what it will be this year, maybe we'll be tested on affinity, a lot of them have that, if you don't, that's fine too, they will test you on something else," She responded, Raena's eyes narrowing.

"Nice," Raena said, "thank you for informing me."

"It's fine, none of us wants to fail," She replied as she stretched off with a yawn.

Raena sighed and smiled slightly as she observed the girl's carefree attitude despite the fact that she was a demon.

"Well, Kyla, I guess I'll see you around, I'll go now," Raena said as she stood up, and the girl looked at her before reaching out to touch Raena's hair and she glanced at her.

"Sorry, your hair is just nice, I hope to see you here tomorrow, Raena, take care," Kyla replied, and Raena smiled at her as the girl dashed away. Raena exited the building and went to the entrance, where she saw the butler waiting for her by the gate and he waved at her.

As she approached him, she said, "Good afternoon."

"Good afternoon, would you like to go, lady Raena?" He asked, and she nodded, then a black hole appeared in front of them, he entered, looked at her, and she followed him in before it closed and another side opened within the mansion's living room, and they exited.

"Uh... Where has he gone?" She inquired, and the butler turned to face her.

"He has gone out; he will return by night; you may go relax in your room, and if you wish, I could prepare you a meal," He responded, and she sighed as she clutched her stomach after hearing it grumble.

"A meal sounds good," She said and he chuckled.

"You could have told me you were hungry, and how was your visit today?" He inquired as he walked to the kitchen, and she followed.

"Would you mind answering a question?" He gave her a sidelong glance after she asked, knwoing that certain questions he could not answer since his master restricted him from doing so.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Have you ever been to the academy?" She inquired.

"No, didn't get the chance, why?" He asked.

"I intend to attend the academy, but..." She responded.

"Lady Raena, don't worry about anything, if anything happens to you, he won't rest easy, he didn't choose you for nothing, you are now very dear to him, that's why he suggested those titles if anyone ever asked you those questions about family and so on, you are strong after all," He said as she stared at him.

She was perplexed, but she knew she needed to learn, and the academy was her only option. Little did she know, she was not just an ordinary human being who was just given a chance out of generosity, it was all connected to something even bigger than that.

"Lady Raena, I don't know everything about the academy but that doesn't mean you can't rely on me, I will tell you that the hardest thing right now is climbing the ranks, even if you reach Academy Overlord, it's not enough, no one has managed to break the ranks in many, many years, but if you are worried about that, just pass the classes even if it's at the lowest rate, the main thing is that you don't fail," He said and she sighed, feeling a bit relieved after hearing that.

Despite this, she didn't want to just pass at the lowest possible rate; she wanted to grow because she hadn't had many chances to grow in her previous life.

"Thank you; what is your name?" She inquired as he stared at her and then smiled.

"Does my name matter?" He asked as she blinked.

"Of course, I can't go around calling you Mr. Butler, can I?" He chuckled when she asked.

"I'm Drakun, lady Raena," He responded.

"Drakun, thank you for looking after me as well," She said as his eyes widened and she peeked at his tail which was moving.

"You're welcome; your food will be ready soon," He said.

"I see, then I'll go freshen up, I think I smell weird, not sure," She said as she rushed off to her room, and he sighed before continuing to cook the food.

Raena may not have trusted them yet, but she knew in her heart that they were not evil. She wanted to trust them, but that was not easy to come by, and since she decided to see if she could trust them, she also decided to choose a title to address Akaz among the ones he had suggested.
