Newfound

After hearing what their test will be on, Raena looked in the palm of her hands, then at the teacher and Kyla raised her hand up and he looked at her.

"What's the matter?" He asked.

"Sir, not all of us have those properties; will we suffer any consequences as a result?" She asked.

"Don't worry, you won't, I'm just helping you guys here to place you in classes, those who don't have, that's not a problem, they'll be given other tests, but I need to test those who do," He responded and she smiled.

"Got it," She said and he sighed.

"All right, I'll test each of you individually, those who don't have will be tested as well, many talents can be awakened at this age, you never know if you have one now, understood?" He asked.

"Understood," They responded.

"Good, now that you all understand we should get going."

The teacher pulled out a purple orb out of his bag, which began to glow slightly, and they smiled as a purple barrier in the shape of a box appeared in front of them.

"One of you enter," He said, and the students began to enter from the front of the line, but the moment they entered, you couldn't see them anymore, so they only knew who weren't affinity users and those who were they couldn't see what type they had.

After everyone had their turn, it was Kyla's turn.

Raena was curious about what she had control over but didn't want to ask, but when the girl finished, she smiled and looked at Raena.

"What?" Raena asked.

"We'll talk about what I have when you're finished. He's not the patient type, and he'll yell if you take too long." Raena smiled as she stepped into the box, and the teacher looked at her.

"You are Raena right?" He asked.

"Yes, I am," She responded.

"Here is how we will go about doing this, close your eyes, focus on your energy and place your hand on the orb, the color it will glow that's what your affinity will be," He said and she sighed, then took a deep breath, closed her eyes and placed her hand on the orb while trying her best to focus.

While Raena tried her best, she started feeling her hands getting warmer and the orb lit up bright orange and the teacher drew back a little as she opened her eyes and smiled then took her hand off as he wrote down something in his book.

"That's great; you have fire," He said.

Raena looked at him and said, "Thank you," before leaving the box which vanished and the teacher looked at them.

"We can only take one test daily, sometimes two, but this is the only one for you kids today, you can stick around or go home, just a bit longer and your class will be assigned to you, then you will hardly have nothing to do, be good kids and go do something productive," He said with a smile before leaving and they exited the room.

"Would you like to go get something to eat at the cafeteria because classes are about to end?" Raena nodded after Kyla asked.

"Come on," Kyla took Raena's hand in hers and led her to the cafeteria, where they sat at a table after getting their food and Raena noticed the girl was staring at her.

"You are staring, why?" She asked.

"I've got earth; what did you get?" Kyla inquired.

"I have fire, but I'm not sure how to use it as yet. I will learn it in the best way I can," She replied, and Kyla smiled.

"Well, most of my family got earth, so it was only natural that I got it as well, I have improved a lot on using it, I just hope it helps, and as for your fire, I don't think you need to worry about it, they will have you attend certain classes, despite being in one class sometimes you can apply to take other classes, you can get a lot stronger with fire as well," She said and Raena smiled.

Raena hoped that she would do well within the academy with her newfound ability.

Raena mumbled, "I intend to get stronger, I won't let anyone walk on me here, I have literally had enough of that."

Kyla looked at Raena, unsure what she was mumbling about since she knew nothing of the girl, but she understood and after finishing her food, she sighed.

"Raena, no matter what, don't let that happen, here superiority matters, it has for a long time."

Raena looked at her and then at the other students who were entering the cafeteria, some of whom were staring at her strangely, and she scoffed, "I get what you're saying, I'll do my best not to let that happen."

"Good, if you ever need help with anything, come to me and I will assist you in any way I can, can we be friends now?" Kyla asked as she extended her hand.

Despite her inability to trust those around her, Raena could see that Kyla was genuine and really wanted to be her friend, she sighed, then shook the girl's hand, knowing it would take time to fully trust her, but she was willing to give it a shot since she wanted things in her life to be different.

"Friends," She responded, and Kyla's face lit up with a bright smile.

"Thank you, I hope we have lots of fun together Raena, we have to enjoy our life as well not fully devote it to studying, I have to go now but I have a question," Kyla said.

"What is it?" Raena asked.

"Do you have any good book about magic?" She asked.

"I think I do," She responded.

"Good, use it, it will help you fully understand your abilities, use it as a guide, I'll see you tomorrow, we will talk more then," Kyla said as she and Raena stood up.

"See you later," She replied before exiting the building.

Raena went to the gate to wait for someone to pick her up when she remembered what Akaz had said to her and smiled before calling out Drakun's name, and within a minute, he appeared before her and she jumped back as he bowed his head and smiled.
