No Rest

Tired animals sleep.

Tired Humans sleep.

After surviving death, and being filled with worn-out muscles, sleep was a necessary and cherished component, yet Kruxe soon found his eyes snapping open and his cheeks stinging as they were both being slapped.

"Is he awake yet, we can't waste time we need to hurry." Kruxe heard a voice from the right shout, and then a reply from a voice that Kruxe identified as Liara's came from just beside him

"Don't worry I'll soon be there, he'll soon…."

"Kruxe is not dead, he's awake" Lia's cheerful voice suddenly rang out, cutting off her mother and also sending Kruxe's mind spurning as he wondered how he came about to being considered dead.

"Great hurry up," the voice from the right said with urgency and then quickly left but Liara wasn't paying attention to it anymore.

"When did anyone say he was dead" Liara barked looking at Lia and then she turned to Kruxe.

Kruxe was just about to inquire about the situation, but Liara didn't give him a chance as she grabbed his cloth and pulled him to a sitting position.

"Get up, I just gave you two shots, so though you'll feel a little too jumpy, keep cool and follow me" Liara barked.

Kruxe was at first confused by her words but then he looked to his left and found two injection needles lying by the side.

Kruxe wanted to question but Liara lightly smacked him on the head.

"Do you understand me" she roared,

"Yes," Kruxe said understanding that they were in some sort of emergency.

With Kruse's reply, Liara turned and began heading for the door to the right, and without missing a beat, Kruxe stood and jumped off his bed, following after her, his body suddenly full of energy.

"What is going on," Kruxe asked, but before he could get an answer the familiar sound of two cannon blasts sounded out consecutively and Lia went with a joyful scream.

"Pirates are attacking."

With the blast sounds coming from afar, they did nothing to Kruxe but the word pirates had him pausing for a few seconds before he quickly got himself back and followed after the Liara, running out the double door.

With a few steps, Kruxes' eyes were introduced to a whole new space, one outside the empty hall he had been in, but with the current situation, he had no time to take in his surroundings, only following Liara to take a right and began heading for the stairs a few steps away.

Several more explosions went off, their near faint sounds reaching the clinic, but it did nothing to Kruxe and Liara's pace until two particularly loud explosions accompanied by a bright and huge fire appeared and just as they were happening, Kruxe happened to be passing by an open window and looking out, several images came into his eyes but one stood out, eventually bringing his legs to s stop.

There it was in the far distance, though blurry, the image of a red flag carrying a skull that had two bones poking out of its eyes was made visible, a flag no doubt belonging to pirates, a group of pirates he was familiar with.

"Kruxe"

"Kruxe"

The sound of his name being called filtered into one ear and went out the next never being processed in Kruxe's mind, his brain occupied with images of his mother being held by the neck, while Cletina was being toyed with by a group of shrewd men.

It took a slap to the head to have Kruxe's mind return to reality, and when he turned to look at Liara, he actually took a step back in fright, startled and a little bit scared of her tight expression.

"What the hell are you doing" Liara screamed

To Liara's words, Kruxe kept quiet and then the woman frustrated, grabbed his right hand and pulled him along.

With Lia being carried by her left hand and holding Kruxe with her right, Liara marched to the stairs and then quickly went down it, paying no attention to the faint cannon sounds in the distance or to the little resistance that she felt on her right hand.

"Is she a seeker?" Kruxe thought being a little bit fearful of Liara's strength but this thought didn't last for long as the thought of what he had just seen rampaged in his head.

"Perhaps I saw wrong"

"Maybe it's a flag that's similar"

"I most likely saw what I wanted to see, I wanted to see Mom so I imagined the flag out there."

Various thoughts went through Kruxe's mind and he found himself phasing out, his legs moving on autopilot as he was pulled by Liara.

Though the clinic wasn't populated, it still contained a decent amount of people as the ground floor buzzed.

As Kruxe moved, he bumped into a few people, this event having him looking around at the noisy hall, confused as they and a few other people were stuck standing a few meters from large open double doors while people were on beds were being wheeled into it.

"Where are we going?" Kruxe asked, having to repeat his question a second time and a lot louder before Liara answered him.

"We're moving to an undergoing bunker, we'll wait out the pirate attack there.

We are late so we'll have to wait for the bedridden patient to be taken in now, but don't worry there are only a few, we'll soon be going in."

After speaking, Liara turned to Kruxe and gave him a reassuring smile, thinking he was scared, not knowing how far away from the truth she was.

Even as Kruxe talked and tried to get his head focused on his surroundings, his mind went flashing back to that one scene he had just seen quickly comparing it with the one he had seen during his last moments aboard the breezing Ania.

Various thoughts came pouring into Kruxe's head and he soon found himself looking back.

With the sun still banished from the world, the few lanterns that illuminated the large room were only able to illuminate their immediate surroundings, severely limiting how much Kruxe could see, leaving him not even able to identify what could be a door that led out of this room.

Soon Kruxe felt Liara pulling on his arm once more, taking him closer and closer to the huge doors ahead of them while also sending Kruxe's mind into mass chaos as he now had to quickly make a decision.

"I have to make sure," Kruxe thought with a roar in his head.

He let Liara pull him two more steps forward, and then using all his strength he yanked his left hand which was in her grip back, his hand coming out of the unsuspecting woman's hold, and then with a silent apology to her, he turned around, bent down and quickly snuck his way through the several people behind him.
