Hotel Room Key

"The index finger of Maia's right hand pressed the up arrow button. Two minutes later, the elevator door opened very slowly, requiring patience to wait for it to open completely. After the elevator door opened completely, Maia stepped in. She hurriedly pressed the button so the elevator door wouldn't close, and Helena and Hector then followed suit into the elevator.

"The door took so long to open, this elevator is really strange, Mom. The model and shape seem so old," Hector exclaimed, looking at the conditions inside the elevator.

His mother nodded and laughed, hearing Hector complain about the elevator door and the old-fashioned condition of the elevator. Laughing, Maia also observed the elevator. Her eyes looked around at the unusual patterns.

After a few moments, they waited for the elevator door to close; it felt prolonged, about thirty seconds. The elevator was indeed an old model, as seen from the thick door and spacious interior. The first elevator model was made around the eighteen fifties.

"This elevator is unique, like a jewelry box belonging to Mom. It's full of mirrors on all sides, with patterns from the era of kingdoms, and there's a carpet at the bottom," Hector enthusiastically explained.

Helena smiled as she looked around at the elevator's condition. Her hand reached into her sling bag, taking out her cell phone. Of course, she remembered to capture moments with her mom and brother in the classic elevator. They took several photos together as if wanting to take advantage of the moment in that luxurious place.

The three-star classic hotel concept was indeed old, built around the eighteen fifties, long before Rico and Helena were born. Hector felt like he was in a kingdom he often watched in movies.

The elevator slowly went up each floor of the classic hotel. A few minutes later, it stopped on the fifth floor. The elevator door opened slowly. Hector got out and ran around the entire hallway on the floor.

"Mom, what's our room number?" Hector asked as he ran around the entire hallway on the fifth floor.

"Five-oh-five, dear. Our room, try looking at the end of the hallway and then turn right!" Maia said, showing the direction of the hallway with her right hand.

Hector quickly ran around to the end of the hallway and then turned right. His steps stopped when he found a room with a large and broad door leaf. It seemed to be their room, with a large number hanging on the door leaf, number five-oh-five.

"Mom, I found our room over here. Come quickly!" Hector shouted as he ran towards Maia and Helena, showing them the room.

Maia and Helena quickly accelerated their steps towards the end of the hallway and then turned right, finding the room Hector meant. It turned out to be correct; their room was there.

"It seems to be correct, dear. This is our room," her mother said, checking the room numbers around their room.

Maia's hand immediately reached into her light red bag, searching for the hotel room key she had put in it. She searched slowly in the bag, her hand to the right and left, but Maia couldn't find it.

"Where is the key? Why is it not here?" Maia said, slowly searching her bag once again.

As far as she remembered, she put the key in the bag after receiving it and paying the bill. Somehow, the key disappeared, even though it was very large and had a keychain shaped like a hotel building.

Then, Maia placed her bag on the waiting table in front of their room. She took out all the contents of the bag and spilled them onto the table. Maia was confused.

"I think I put the key in this bag earlier, then I walked towards the elevator," she explained while reenacting the previous incident and explaining it to Hector and Helena.

Hector and Helena also searched for the key in the bag and tried to search in their pockets, but they couldn't find it either.

"Both of you wait here, my children. Mom will try to go back down to the reception again, maybe Mom forgot to take the key," she said, walking towards the elevator.

Hector and Helena nodded and sat on the waiting chairs in front of their room. While walking to the elevator, Maia turned her body back to look at her two children while smiling.

"Wait for Mom here, just a moment," she said as if reassuring her two children.

Hector responded by raising his thumb, indicating that he agreed to wait for his mother there. Not wanting to waste time, Rico immediately took out his cell phone and started taking pictures. Meanwhile, Helena, who was tired, chose to close her eyes because she was beginning to feel sleepy.

Helena fell asleep on the sofa in front of their room.

Meanwhile, Maia ran a little towards the elevator she had taken with her two children earlier. She pressed the downward arrow button, waiting quite a long time for the elevator to reach the fifth floor.

Then...

"Tiiing," the elevator sounded as it arrived at the fifth floor.

The elevator arrived, and the door began to open slowly. Maia prepared to enter the elevator. Eagerly, she wanted to get into the old elevator that worked very slowly and quickly.

The elevator door was already open. Inside, there was a beautiful woman who was about twenty-eight years old. Maia's eyes were drawn to the woman. Maia smiled at the woman, and the woman smiled back.

Maia's footsteps entered the elevator slowly. She pressed the "L" button, meaning Lobby. Awkwardly, they didn't talk to each other. The woman was busy holding her cell phone as if texting someone. Maia didn't have time to think about chatting with the woman.

Maia's mind was focused on the hotel room key that she didn't find in her bag.

"Ting," the elevator sound indicated that the elevator had reached the Lobby floor. The elevator stopped, and the door began to open slowly. Maia hurriedly wanted to step out. Ten seconds later, the door opened wide. With a little run, Maia approached the receptionist and started asking.

"Excuse me, did I get the room key for room five-oh-five earlier?" Maia asked, her face looking anxious.

"Just a moment, let me check first, Ma'am. Please wait a moment, Mom," the receptionist politely replied while looking at Maia.

Maia walked to the golden yellow sofa chair next to the reception desk. She was not calm and was thinking about where the room key might be. She observed the receptionist's movements and became curious about whether the key had been given to her.

Maia daydreamed, her gaze blank.

Not long after...
