Anlai watched as the portal disappeared in a shimmer of light, stealing away Adriana before his eyes before he could do anything; once again robbing him of his salvation.

Adriana had escaped his grasp once again. He had her here, in his hands. Anlai thought, his hands imitating the mental image he conjured up, of himself grabbing her slightly tan throat and squeezing. But he was foiled by that demon, by the same demon that had served him, that had empowered him to destroy her.

" No! No! No! No!" Anlai fell to the ground on his knees, with his hands, he grabbed his head and fiercely brought it down against the wet ground, and he repeated the motion continuously, feeling the severe aching on one side of his head, the warm trickle of blood falling down his nose and into his mouth.
