Dick took his arm. “I’m really sorry about Ned. I know how badly you must have wanted to go and show him off—and those stupid classmates up. Ned’s going to be fine.” He laughed shortly. “It’s been one hell of a week. I think I see some big changes in my future, bro. Like, maybe I’ll get a real job—I do have a degree you know. And then I’m going to see if Marcia wants a decent man in her life.”

Peter smiled. Then he said, “Thanks but I’m already taken, man!”

Dick punched him on the shoulder, laughing. “Come on,” he said. “Let’s go kill Dudley.”

“‘Let’s go kill Dudley’,” he said. ‘It’ll be fun’, he said,” minced Peter, tightening his belt.

Dressed they looked at each other, pushing out their chins and puffing out their chests. Dick said, “Look at you, in that candy-ass monkey suit,” paraphrasing his favorite movie, The Blues Brothers

Peter rolled his eyes. “Shut up, Jake.”

“That’s not in the movie.”

“It is now. Let’s roll.”
