11 The Markings of a Wolf

My fingers trembled as they gingerly brushed over the ink. It was his handwriting. I know because the booklet outlining his instructions was handwritten too. In a low tone, virtually parallel to a growl, I read his little note aloud.

"Dear, Chloe. I had an inkling that you'd sooner or later request to read one of my novels. After all, your curiosity runs wild… An intriguing trait might I add."

I swallowed the dry lump in my throat, shaken to continue further. Howbeit, I had no alternative but to persevere, even if he planned it or manipulated my every move.
