The stopover at the inn left Jung-In and Soo-Ah refreshed, rested and presentable enough to proudly pass through the gates of such a distinguished city as the capital of the Silla Kingdom. But most of all it left them eager to arrive already. Too long she'd been on the road and travelling still did not fare well for her.
Back on the road, they were getting closer with every step. Soo-Ah kept asking while lifting in her saddle as if she could see beyond the hills in front of them and asking, "How long?"
Jung-In always answered, "Almost there," taking peeks at his companion's face, a faint smile tweaking the corners of his mouth. He knew what lay beyond the tamed mounds framing the horizon but kept his mouth shut.
Slowly making their way uphill, Soo-Ah became more anxious, until then they reached the very top and awe was the only thing plastered on her face. She had to stop her horse, eyes and mouth wide open, to take it all in.
