Chapter 25 part 2

Of course, it was him again...

The only difference this time around was that he looked more handsome than she had ever seen him. His hair was combed neatly to the back with a stride of hair falling from one side, unlike the normal way he carried the hair like a neglected asset. His dress also looked unique just like his family's but even though those were the noticeable changes she could see in him right now, she was sure it was more than this.

His aura also looked different. It was like he was looking for a victim to catch tonight and feast on, she could tell by the way he looked around with thorough suspicion.

Could it be related to what she saw the previous night? Was this the plan they talked about? If it was, then she was sure tonight would be a complete mess because nothing seemed like it will go right with the tons of people here at the ceremony and she who was trying to get back her uniform from this Prince.

How would she get back her uniform from him if he looked this cold today, not forgetting that she is just a maid which means it would even be harder to get to him today.

Now slowly connecting the dots, she started to feel even more frightened about this Berlin. If this funeral in-built room for servants were a culture before now which would mean they were safe already, why did she still warn her about being careful?

...

The room lit up as the royal family entered wearing matching attires but even got more lit when Prince Leon walked in with his right-hand man. He looked different from how he used to be and the only person who knew why was Matthew. They both spared a glance at each other when the people's head was bowed down and Matthew nodded at him as if understanding the assignment.

"You may rise," Leon said to the guests whose heads were bowed down and they raised their heads.

"Let the ritual begin." He told the priest who was responsible for the burial rites.

The whole hall went completely silent immediately the priest started murmuring words they couldn't understand but since it was a normal way of burying past Kings, it didn't bother them.

However, Melina was seriously cringing at the ceremony as everything done gave her a rough feeling. How were they so comfortable standing in front of something this supernatural and they didn't throw up? She didn't know but she definitely couldn't stare at this for any more moment. It gave her goosebumps all around.

"Are you okay?" Finally, the girl beside her spoke as she saw Melina tighten her body and cover her ears while the priest whispered things even she couldn't understand.

Melina out of shock stared at her before shaking her head to indicate that she wasn't fine. Her belly turned and ached as the priest uttered those words...though she didn't understand why she was the only one feeling this way. "What is he saying?" She asked the girl beside her curiously.

"I don't know either but it's a part of the ritual my trainer told me is done to appease the soul of the dead person and..." The girl whispered but paused while looking at Melina. "And?"

"I-I'm not sure but I know she also told me that only mysterious creatures feel it when those rituals are recited though you are not a mysterious person to me." The girl said unsure while peeking at Melina who was wincing in pain as she felt her tummy tingle.

The girl could tell that the pain was much for Melina which was why she didn't even listen to her and so decided to forget about that... she didn't understand if it was just normal pain or something was attached.

The priest finally stopped whimpering and Melina finally felt at ease in her stomach. She turned to the girl beside her confused about what just happened.

"What was that?" Melina questioned but the girl seemed to be as clueless as her.

"I don't know. Maybe you just got irritated by the scene since it's your first time at such an event. People are different." The girl said trying to convince Melina and herself that it was nothing out of the ordinary she just felt now even if she knew it wasn't.

"Hmm. I agree." She nodded.

The two had been so deep in their conversation that they didn't realize they had been ordered to come out and serve the guests the food before the final part of the ceremony.

"What are you both still doing here?! Didn't you hear the instruction??!" Ms Carlos barged into the room startling the girls who immediately came out with the carts even if they didn't fully understand what Ms Carlos had just said.

With their aching legs, they walked around with the carts, serving food to the visitors whichever one they asked. She continued doing this innocently with her head down not wanting to get attention to herself but her red hair didn't seem to let her.

"Isn't that the girl Prince Leon found in the King's bedroom the day he was found dead?" She heard someone whisper at the back.

Though it sounded like a whisper, she knew the person intentionally wanted her and others in the hall to hear it and so she decided to raise her head a little to take a glimpse at people's reactions only to see that she was even on the spotlight. She turned around and saw that most people were looking at her while whispering things she didn't understand.

This is what she hated about being around people. They were always mumbling about something if it wasn't someone.

Not wanting much more attention, she subtly looked around her to see if there was any place that looked free of people and then, slowly but steadily she entered the place.

It was like a balcony that had a long path leading to somewhere she didn't know but felt would be safer for her. Still noticing that people were glaring at her from far since she was supposed to be responsible for carrying the food cart, she stylishly left the cart there so people could get hold of it before running into the dark side of the balcony where no one would see her.

..

"Right...never tired of getting into trouble." Berlin who had been watching her from the other room soliloquized and just shook her head in disdain before giving a signal to someone to carry the cart while she followed Melina.
