CHAPTER SIXTEEN (SAM WAHALA)

Mom sounded worried from the few sentences she said.

"Good morning mom. Is there a problem?"

"You know me too well dear, I need to see you today. It's urgent." She replied.

"But I am off to work now, can't we talk about it on the phone?"

"You just said I sounded worried and yet you are refusing to come." My mom can be a lot sometimes, she emotionally blackmails me.

"Alright, I will be there but I won't stay long. Okay!"

"Thank you." Mrs Dupe said and hung up.

After getting dressed, I took a quick look at myself in the mirror then picked up my house and car keys and went out.

Good morning sir!!! Workers kept greeting as Sam made his way into his office.

He saw Tinuke going out earlier before he left the house and was glad that she was being obedient to him but as he got to the secretary desk, there was no Tinuke around.

"Good morning sir." Adebisi greeted with a blushing smile.

"Where is Tinuke?" He asked without even responding to her greeting.

"Tinuke? Hmmm, she hasn't arrived yet." Adebisi replied now aware of the trouble her friend might face today from her devilish hottie.

What!!! Sam exclaimed.

"Does she often arrive this late?" He asked after a second of silence.

"No sir, Tinuke is very punctual. I don't know why she is late today, must be something very urgent." Adebisi replied feeling a bit sad for Tinuke.

"Ask her to come to my office when she gets here." Sam said and left Adebisi standing there speechless.

She immediately ran to the others to give them the gist perhaps as a morning breakfast.

"I can't believe mom has to make me do this." Tinuke said to herself as she walked into the company's building.

"Tinu. Are you just coming in?" Desire one of her colleagues asked.

"Yes, I had something urgent to do." I replied her and walked passed.

"I hope the new boss doesn't get upset with you." Said Desire behind me.

"The new boss." I gasped. I had totally forgotten that Mr Luis was no longer my boss and that Sam of all people is.

I cried and bite my lips, then ran quickly to my post. I met Adebisi by my desk going through some documents.

"Hey girl. Why did you come in late today?" She asked looking a bit worried.

"I am so screwed, ain't I?" I asked getting anxious.

"Just go in." Adebisi said gesturing at me with her hand. I smiled awkwardly and slowly turned the door knob.

Sam was stamping his feet on the ground restlessly, he was a bit upset but also worried for her.

He quickly sat properly and started going through some papers when he saw Tinuke walk in.

"Good afternoon sir." Tinuke greeted looking down.

"Why did you come late to resume your new position?" Sam asked still going through the papers.

"Sir, I am sorry." I apologized quickly hoping this would calm him down and save me the wrath of dangerous Sam.

"Were you trying to show your colleagues that I have no authority whatsoever on you even though I am your boss?" Sam said and I gasped. What is he trying to do now?

"Are trying to ridicule because of our fights back at home? If that is what you are doing, then it's fine. Keep on with whatever you are doing." Sam continued even after seeing the shock on her face.

"I will never do any of this things. I had an urgent matter to attend to." I wanted to explain better.

"My mom called me home to discuss something with me that could not be discussed on the phone. But that's still no excuse for my misbehavior and so I apologise sir." I folded my hands before him and gave my most sincerest apology.

"It's okay." Sam said after a while of silence.

"But before I totally forgive you, you will have to tell me what you discussed with your mom." Shocking her even more.

Gosh there he goes again, I thought he would simply let me off the hook without making me suffer.

"But sir, that's a personal matter." I protested getting a bit upset.

"Then don't tell me."

I felt relieved when he said that until he added this.

"And I will demote you to a lower position."

"Sir please don't do this."

"Then tell me what you discussed with her." I had no choice but to explain even though I felt like slapping his head from behind at that moment.

I stood quietly for a while and then cleared my throat and got ready to speak.

"I am not that evil you know but I can be quite mischievous." Sam said interrupting her.

"You are very mischievous." Tinuke thought to herself.

"Sit down while you talk but be fast, you still have quite a lot to do as my secretary." Sam said to her and she sat down gently on the chair.

"And he says he's not evil." I said and chuckled inwardly.
