FORGETFUL ME

I walked down the street that was covered with shades of trees hurriedly, on getting to the fifth house on the left row I saw a strange woman with eyes that were shining like that of diamonds, our eyes met and the next thing I could remember was that I was at her house, the woman was a witch, she didn't tell me but from the way her house was, with big cooking pot that had smoke coming out of it and a broom, it was fair to say that she was a witch because that's what we saw in the movies. When my eyes were opened from the spell, I saw the woman sitting on a chair in front of me, she looked at me and the next second she started saying weird stuffs like;

"I saw light in you, you are the chosen one"

Wait, chosen to do what, I want just a poor orphanage girl so what could I be chosen for, at that moment I knew she was going to narrate her history or maybe her linage story and boom, she did;

"My great grandfather was tricked into kissing a witch which didn't turn him into a wizard but a demon instead, and that demonism have been passed on through out our linage starting from the old man and now its in me, I know you thought I was a witch but I'm not, I'm a female demon, my grandfather told me that the secret to getting rid of the demonism is unknown but when we see the key, we will know, and I have seen that light in you, I don't know how you could be the key but I know you are the key".

I was filled with laughter but couldn't let it out,i mean,a demon in the 21st century,I didn't believe her and couldn't wait for her to finish with her sad fairytale and just let me go,i was scared also marveled. When she narrated the whole story she took me to see the pictures of her family and damn it was so scary, then when i was about to go, she gave me a necklace and said

"You are the key,take,the lock shall be with it's key in a few"

I didn't understand what that was supposed to mean but i took the necklace because it was so beautiful, I couldn't stop looking at it as i walked back to the orphanage but I didn't put it on because if I did it would have been seized by that good for nothing old hag that always took our things. I still wear the necklace till today and the lock isn't with the key yet, i'm sure that woman just cooked up a story and made me wear the necklace but i'm not still giving it up because it's the most beautiful necklace i've ever seen .

I was lost in thought about that day that i forgot i had cake in the oven, it was toast and was as black as coal, it was so annoying I had to go to bed on an empty stomach because I didn't have the strength to start all over, I was too tired for that, but i later woke up in the night to bake the same cake because I was almost defeated by hunger. I couldn't wait to see my boss, is he going to be tall, will he be so annoying or so sweet, but i pray he is sweet because I'm not ready to work with a boss that I annoying, i said that like I had another option.

I just had to wait for Monday, I woke up early everyday but of all the days to wake up late it chose to be Monday, my first day at work, I'm going to be late, I hurriedly packed my things and got few snacks in my bag so I could eat as I walked to the bus station. I was pretty lucky as the person who is my boss has not returned and I returning in the afternoon. Thank Goodness I arrived before him because I had to settle down and learn more about the company before his arrival. I'm sure you must be wondering if I got a office or not, well yes I got one but I don't think mine should be called one because my office was in the bosses office, it was just demarcated with a door.

The long await to see my boss finally came to am end few minutes from when I settled down to take a nap, I closed my eyes and was about to visit the dreamland when I heard noises.

"He I here", from outside

Who is here, I went out to check what was going on and saw most of the staff running from pillar to post, then my brain finally told me that the boss was around, the receptionist had told me that he likes work and immediately he came in I should remind him about his schedule and that is what I didn't do. All the staffs were waiting for him at the entrance and I joined them too, I stayed at the front as his personal assistant and when he entered I was rather shocked at his appearance. I was caught up in admiring his looks that I forgot what I was supposed to do when he came in, funny right, well guess what happened next.

"Where is my personal assistant?", the boss said with utmost annoyance as he was expecting his personal assistant to read out his schedule. I was in trouble, at the moment the only thought that came to my mind was "clerk prepare her sack letter".

"I'm here sir", I said

"Who made you my personal assistant, were you not briefed about what my personal assistant does when I get back from a trip, meet me in my office"

"Yes sir", my teeth shook, my heart slipped to my throat, I'm in big trouble, oh my Goodness. My first day at work and my boss is already mad at me, I must certainly be cursed. In my mind i thought of how I would feel if I got fired, I will just quit, no I can't quit, what will I eat, I had to do something, but what, let me just go in and face my fate.
