CHAPTER 2

I could feel that I am having butterflies in my stomach, it was almost my turn. The second interviewee just can inside the interview room and I knew I was next. I inhaled and exhaled back and forth trying to get a grip of myself, Martina grabbed my hand and said: "Shane, I know that we just met and I can tell that you're a good person I'm sure that you'll do great". I glanced at the interview room as its door opened and the next second, "Number 3" the announcer called. I stood up and walked towards the door, I pinched myself "Ouch, okay Shane, get your guts together or there will be nothing, think about Mom and Dad" I said to myself as a motivation, also a wake-up call.

I entered the room and sat on the chair. The room was quiet, then the interviewer started to ask me about trivial questions, and of course, I answered them back. Then the interviewer asked me the question most interviewers would have asked." What is your purpose for applying for this job, there are plenty of agencies and companies out there?" the interviewer said." I belong to a family in which I am the bread-winner and I want to financially support my parents as their child, my friend who works here suggested that I could try applying for a job in this company for its good salary pay and management. Any tasks given to me are always done in time and I always follow the rules and regulations and take on them with courage and determination despite the-" *rumbles*. A sound suddenly burst, it was not that loud, but it can be heard because of how quiet the room was. My tummy, I was too naive and nervous about this interview I didn't have time to eat. And out of all the time, why did my tummy rumble at such a moment when I was saying a very emotional and poetic answer. "Pardon me, sir," I said in embarrassment.

"It's okay, continue" the interviewer replied."Back to where I was, I always make sure I can accomplish the tasks I am given with courage and determination despite the troubles and dilemmas I have in life" I said. "Very well, you seem like someone who can do the job right, you are an eloquent speaker I guess. You seem like you have the confidence, I could take you in as the person who will lead the guests and luggage to their respective rooms." the interviewer said."How could not take such an offer, I will gladly accept it" I said in joy, "the agency will just call you again about the other stuff like your schedule and you could start working on Monday. Uniforms are available on the ground floor of the hotel and you can purchase it already after this interview" he said."Understood"I replied, I stood up and said thanks and then I walked out of the door happily.

I jumped on Amelia and hugged her tightly, "I got in!"I squealed, "CONGRATS GIRL, IM so proud of you!" she replied."As a congratulatory gift, why don't I treat you to dinner? Its all on me okay, no need to be shy" Amelia said."Thanks, but before that why don't we stop by the ground floor and buy my uniform?"I said."Sure!"

I successfully bought my uniform and went to dinner in a 5-star restaurant."Um Amy, are you sure about this place? We could just go somewhere cheaper you know."I said, "Relax, I know my limits," she said as if she was bragging about her money. Amelia was born in an average family, but not like mine, my family struggled for survival for years."Come on Shane, it's only once in a million years, besides its because I'm really proud of you" she said. I could not find another friend just like her, I hugged her and said " Amy, thank you, you're the best!". We dined in the restaurant, it was really good! I have never tasted anything like this. I hope that one day I could take my parents to a restaurant like this.

We were in the middle of dining until Amelia asked me something, "So Shaney(SHANE=SHANEY), don't you have plans on marriage or a relationship?"."Pfft! Of course not, I have more important things to worry about" I uttered."But Shaney, you have to loosen up. You might get too focused and might stay in the same path as before.You need something or "someone" else you could get comfortable with except for me" she said in a concerned voice."Fine, I'm sure that "someone" will just appear, or maybe I don't need to. I can prove you wrong my fellow friend" I said. We both laughed and continued to dine in. We soon left the restaurant and went back home, today was Saturday and my work in the hotel will start at 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. It's good that there is nothing to be worried about my work in the bank.
