I never will

When Trevor and Alexa went into the building. They stopped by Alexa's classroom to gather her things. When they packed everything up, Trevor swung Alexa's bag over his shoulder and smiled, taking her hand. "C'mon let's go see Matt before we go feed Zander," he said as he led her through the halls. They went down the side hallway, going past the janitor's closet before entering the connecting hallway. They took a right before going into the first classroom in sight.

Matt looked up from his desk right as Alexa ran into the room with Trevor trailing behind her. He could instantly tell something was up with his childhood friend. Matt looked at Alexa with a warm smile. "Alexa, the markers are up in the front. Why don't you draw on the board?" he said, gesturing to the whiteboard in the front of the classroom before looking back at Trevor.

He put his pen down on top of the pile of scattered papers that he was grading and sat back in his chair. "What's up this time? Did you get the guts to ask her out, and she dumped you?" he asked with a teasing tone. He had on a small smirk as he studied Trevor's pained expression.

Trevor frowned in response. He didn't find Matt's sense of humor funny in the slightest. He plunked down in the seat by the desk with a sigh, placing his hand under his chin. "No… I didn't ask her out…and I never will..." he replied in a very soft tone before looking back up at Matt. Matt's brows furrowed slightly, his expression turned slightly more serious as he saw how heartbroken his friend looked. Trevor continued, "Apparently, Alexa's father seems to be back..."

Sucking in a sharp breath before exhaling, Matt shifted in his seat with a slight frown. "Are you sure it's Alexa's father? How did Mia react?" Trevor grumbled softly. "Ugh. Yes, I'm sure. Alexa even called him Papa. Mia…well Mia acted like she saw a ghost. When she saw him, she even teared up. It felt awkward being there...she told me to bring Alexa home so they could talk I guess..."

Matt frowned. "Well, he's been gone for 5 years already hasn't he? He'll probably leave again… Don't think too much into it," he said before picking up his pen again with a sigh. "Now stop moping and go do whatever you need to do! I still have to stay behind to finish grading papers."

Trevor nodded and stood up with a sigh. He ran a hand through his hair. "Fine, see you later then." He grabbed Alexa's bag before looking towards the front of the classroom. "C'mon Alexa! Let's go feed Zander!" Alexa's ears practically pricked up when she heard Trevor. She had a huge grin on her face as she put the markers down and quickly ran over. "Okay!"

They walked hand in hand down the halls. Trevor glanced at Alexa and stared at her thoughtfully for a while. He hesitated before asking, "Alexa? Who was that man before?" He wanted to hit himself for asking because he felt this sinking feeling in his gut that told him he wouldn't like the answer she gave. Alexa smiled warmly. "He's my Papa Alex! I'm so glad he came!" Trevor frowned slightly, he tried not to express his disappointment as he let out a dejected sigh.

Alexa and Trevor were on their way out of the school building when Alexa realized she still had the gifts she made for Alex in her backpack. She stopped in her tracks. "I forgot to give something to Papa Alex!" she exclaimed and hurriedly ran back into the school. Trevor blinked. He didn't even have enough time to respond before he saw Alexa run back into the school. Quickly recovering he went after Alexa through the halls.

Truth be told she really didn't want to leave her parents alone together. She wanted them to talk things out but she felt something was off when they met. Even though she was still a kid, she was quite astute and knew that her Papa Alex would never raise his voice at anyone unless he really needed to. She hoped that she could make her Papa Alex less angry by giving him the gift she prepared. She was excited to see his reaction because he was always happy to receive her gifts.

Alexa knew that her mum and Papa Alex would most likely be in the music classroom so she went there. She turned a few corners and stopped right outside the doors to the music room. She heard muffled voices from inside the class. Then she heard her Papa Alex raise his voice slightly saying something about a daughter and her mum crying in response. The classroom was silent for a while, all Alexa could hear was her mum's sobbing.

Alexa wanted to cry, or maybe scream at them to stop arguing but something caught her attention. A few random stray tears fell from her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. Trevor panted slightly as he finally caught up to Alexa. He slowly walked up behind Alexa who was standing in front of the doorway with her back facing him. He was going to call her name but stopped when he heard the slightly muffled conversation inside the classroom.

When Alexa heard Kaia say, "Yes, she is your daughter..." more tears fell from her eyes. Alexa quietly took out the gift from her backpack. She quietly stood there for a bit, clutching the second picture she drew in her hands. Before Trevor had a chance to stop her she pushed the slightly open door and said, "Mummy...so Papa Alex really is my daddy?"
