Su Jian was taken aback for a moment. She had not expected Jin Pingchuan to say that. She quickly denied, "No. Stop running your mouth."

"Alright, I won't... I'm leaving." Jin Pingchuan fixed his gaze on Su Jian. "Do you have anything to say?"

"What do you mean?" Su Jian was bewildered.

"Give me a hug? Show me that you don't want me to go?" Jin Pingchuan suggested.

Su Jian exclaimed. They were on the main road now! There were quite a lot of people passing by. Was he out of his mind? He was asking for a public display of affection!

"You're doing this on purpose!" she retorted. She had never kissed or hugged anyone in public, not even when she was with Su Yinian.

Unfortunately, Jin Pingchuan wasn't Su Yinian. He let out a soft chuckle and opened his arms to pull Su Jian into an embrace. Then, he gently kissed the top of her head.

Su Jian was at a loss for words.

She felt like she was losing her mind! Her heart was pounding wildly, and blood rushed to her face to turn it red. When she felt Jin Pingchuan's lips on the top of her head, her heart skipped a beat, and her face blushed even more.

To make matters worse, when Jin Pingchuan released her, he gently pinched her cheek and chuckled. "Let's just say you initiated the hug. I'll leave now. Do remember to miss me."

Su Jian was speechless. Did he want her to miss him? She wanted to kick him!

Caught in a mixture of shyness and annoyance, Su Jian wanted to be angry with Jin Pingchuan. But then, she remembered that they were now husband and wife, and these intimate actions were considered normal. That made her even more frustrated!

When Su Jian returned to the hospital, she spent some time downstairs calming herself before slowly making her way back upstairs.

In the ward, Yao Qin immediately asked about Jin Pingchuan's whereabouts. Su Jian explained his situation and Yao Qin nodded. Unexpectedly, she praised Jin Pingchuan by saying, "This child is quite considerate. You made a good choice. I was worried for nothing."

Su Jian was extremely curious and couldn't understand the drastic change in Yao Qin's attitude. Curiously, she asked, "Mom, what did Jin Pingchuan tell you that made you change sides so quickly?"

Yao Qin smiled mysteriously. "I won't tell you just yet. You'll find out in the future."

Su Jian was speechless. "That Jin Pingchuan!" she thought.

At night, while Su Jian was getting some water in the utility room, her phone rang. It was Jin Pingchuan calling. She watched the phone vibrating for a while before reluctantly answering the call. She remained silent after picking up.

After some time, Jin Pingchuan was the first to break the silence. "Why aren't you saying anything? Are you still angry?"

Su Jian didn't respond.

"Don't be angry anymore. Next time, I'll let you carry me instead." Jin Pingchuan continued to calm her down.

Su Jian was infuriated beyond words. She couldn't resist Jin Pingchuan's shamelessness and finally said, "If you have something to say, just say it."

Jin Pingchuan's smile deepened upon hearing that. Su Jian's face turned hot when she heard his deep laughter.

"I was just worried that I upset my dear wife, so I called to ask and test the waters..."

This person had grown addicted to calling her "dear wife"!

"I'm not that petty!"

Jin Pingchuan quickly replied, "So, does that mean I can still hug you in the future? Can we kiss?"

Su Jian was speechless. "Who twists the meaning of someone else's words like this?" she thought.

While feeling a little embarrassed, Su Jian exclaimed, "Jin Pingchuan! If you don't have anything important to say, I'm hanging up!"

Jin Pingchuan restrained his laughter. "Actually, there is something important."

"Then tell me quickly."

"The other day, when you called me and stopped talking midway, did something happen to you? I was too busy that day and forgot to call you back and ask."

So that's what it was... Su Jian felt a warmth blooming in her heart. It felt quite good to be cared for. However, she didn't want to burden Jin Pingchuan, so she replied, "It's nothing. Go ahead and take care of your own matters. I'm fine here." She had thought it through. There was a high chance that Jin Pingchuan wouldn't be able to help with Su Xingyuan's situation, so it was better not to trouble him.

"Really? I'm going to Gangcheng City this time, and I'm not sure when I'll be back. Let me know if there's anything."

"I'm really fine. Why do you suddenly want to go to Gangcheng City? Is it because of your classmate?"

"He's from Gangcheng City."

Su Jian was speechless.

After ending the call, Su Jian suddenly remembered which university Jin Pingchuan had graduated from. Did he really have classmates from Gangcheng City?

That night, Su Jian had a nightmare. She dreamt that Su Xingyuan had gotten into trouble yet again. This time, he had caused someone's death. He had called her for help in a panic.
