Chapter 7 (The True Sydney)

"Why don't you guys come over?" Merkai asked and my heart dropped.

"Really?" Sydney and I both said but mine wasn't so excited.

"I don't think that's a good idea!" Violet said looking over at Merkai.

"Why not? Lord Ascelin already took Noelia there and that was ok," Merkai smirked over at me and I blushed rolling my eyes.

"Oh, that's where you went," Sydney said elbowing me and I waved her off.

"That's because Ascelin knows how to control himself," Zero chimed in and my eyes widen.

What he mean Merkai can't control herself? Is she planning on sinking her teeth into my best friend?

"Stop scaring her!" Jarmee said rolling his eyes.

"Control what?" Sydney smiled and I began to bite my nails.

"Her bloodlust," Zora whispered looking at Sydney neck and that's when I stood up.

"Sydney, bathroom now!" I said grabbing Sydney arm and dragged her out the cafe.

"Wait, Noelia, what is going on?" Sydney asked pulling away from me and I just laughed.

"Nothing, Ascelin was making me nervous and I just need some air," I said walking down the hall and Sydney quickly followed.

"Why you didn't tell me you went to his house?" Sydney asked.

"I didn't think it was a big deal," I mumbled.

"What were they talking about back there, Noelia? Why did they say Merkai couldn't control her bloodlust? What do that even mean?"

"I don't know, maybe Merkai told them how she truly feels about you or something...I don't know," I spat out shrugging my shoulder.

"You think?" Sydney blushed.

"Yeah, but we don't know if it's in good way or a bad way?" I said which made Sydney frown.

"Why would you say that?"

"I don't want you to get your hopes up," I said and Sydney scoffed.

"I could say the same thing with you. Do you actually think Ascelin likes you?"

"Unlike you, I really don't care if he does or not because in the end I know he is way out of my league and trust me Sydney, Merkai is too," I said turning to her.

"So you're say that someone like them can't like people like us?"

"That is exactly what I'm saying," I said grabbing her shoulders and looked her straight in her eyes, "trust me, I know something about them you don't and I think it's best that we keep them at a distance."

"Oh so you're keeping secrets from me now?" Sydney asked pushing me off of her and turned to walk away.

"Don't tell me we're having a petty fight?" I yelled towards her, "I just want to protect you."

"I don't want your protection if it doesn't involve the truth," Sydney scoffed going back towards the cafe and I groaned. How can I get Sydney out of this mess before she gets any deeper?

"Figure out what question you want to ask?" Ascelin asked coming out of nowhere standing beside me.

"I think so..." I said turning towards him to see him with a blank look on his face, "what is your and Merkai intentions when it comes to Sydney and I?"

"That's the question you're going to ask?" Ascelin smiled and I nod, "very well, if you want the answer to that question Sydney and you will come over to night."

"Really?"

"Yes, my dear," Ascelin said before bending down to kiss my cheek then left me in the hall dumbfounded.

Five minutes later I went back into the cafe and over to the table.

"Hey Noelia, if you decide to come over I can show you some of my bigger draws I have done," Jarmee said and I smiled. I have a feeling that this wasn't going to end well, but if Sydney going, I'm not going to leave her alone, she'll practically feeding herself to the wolves... I mean vampires.

When I finally made it back into my dorm Sydney wasn't there, but Ascelin was and he was sitting on my bed.

"Is Sydney already there?" I asked walking over to him.

"She left with Merkai a while ago," he said standing up in front of me so he could tower over me. My eyes scan up his beautiful body until my eyes connected to his.

"Will she hurt her?" I asked simply feeling tears slowly falling from my eyes, "Will you just let her hurt my friend?"

"What about you? Are you going too?" He asked running his fingers up my arms, "come with me, Rose, I'll take you to her."

"Are you going to answer my question from earlier?" I asked and he smiled.

"I will if you go with me," he said wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Ok," I mumbled.

"Then close your eyes," he whispered and I slowly closed my eyes taking a deep breath.

"Noelia!" I slowly open my eyes to see Sydney sitting on Merkai lap with her arms around her neck.

"Sydney?" I gasped looking over Sydney, what the hell happened to her? Sydney looks different, matter of fact she looks like....them! "Sydney...what is going on?"

No one said anything as my eyes scan over everyone trying to find answers, but no one looked my way. My eyes went to Sydney, her whole demeanor and appearance has change. Her eyes changed to a lighter green and her blonde hair was now curly and just perfect...she looks like Zora but more pronounced.

"You're a vampire?" I whispered towards her and she smiled, "how...why didn't you tell me?" My best friend for eight years is a vampire, how can that be possible?

"Lord Ascelin?" Sydney spoke quietly.

"No, if anyone going to explain anything to me it's going to be you, Sydney!" I slightly yelled.

"Rose..." Ascelin said softly behind me.

"Don't touch me!" I hissed moving away from Ascelin guessing that he was behind all of this, "I'm not listening to anyone shit unless it comes from my lying best friend."

"Calm down, Noelia," Sydney said getting up off of Merkai lap and slowly walked over to me, "I can explain everything...on my part."

"You know what, I don't want to hear it, you just stay right here where you belong," I muffled out wanting to leave.

"You can't leave, Noelia!" Jarmee quickly said before I could take even take a step backwards.

"And why is that?" I asked glancing over at him.

"Because..."

"Someone wants to kill you." Sydney said and all the blood drained from my face.

"What?"

"Someone is trying to find and kill you, Noelia?" Jarmee said and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Why would anyone want to kill me?" I asked then everyone turned to look behind me at Ascelin, I slowly turned to look at Ascelin to see him sighing in the palm of your hands.

"Ascelin?" I mumbled.

"Because you're special, Rose."
