Adrienne's eyes fluttered open, her vision blurry as she slowly regained consciousness. The glaring lights above her caused her to squint, and the constant hum of hospital machinery filled her ears. As her mind slowly cleared, confusion washed over her, making it difficult to piece together what had happened.
"Adrienne," a soft voice called out, breaking through the haze. Turning her head, she saw Richard sitting anxiously by her side. His eyes reflected a mix of relief and concern as he leaned closer.
"Richard?" Adrienne's voice came out hoarse and weak, barely above a whisper.
Relief washed over Richard's face, and his eyes filled with warmth as he reached out to gently hold her hand.
"Thank goodness you're awake, Adrienne. You really had me worried."
A faint smile tugged at Adrienne's lips, but her mind was still foggy.
"How long was I out?" she asked, her voice trembling.
"Three whole days," Richard replied.
