"Hey mom," Adrienne greeted cheerfully as she entered the living room, spotting her mom with her boyfriend sitting comfortably on the couch.
"Adri, how are you?" Her mom's warm voice filled the room.
"I'm good, mom. Hey," Adrienne waved at her mom's boyfriend, who gave a casual bow in return.
"What brings you all the way to Lagos?" Adrienne inquired with genuine curiosity.
"I came to see you," her mom answered with a smile.
"Why didn't you just text or video call me? Or even arrange a virtual meeting if it's about business?" Adrienne questioned, her tone laced with a hint of confusion.
"Says the girl who never responds to my texts," her mom playfully rolled her eyes.
"Oh, guilty as charged," Adrienne chuckled lightly.
"Come here," her mom stood up, beckoning Adrienne to join her.
Adrienne took a few steps towards her mom, who enveloped her in a warm hug.
"Ew! Mom!" Adrienne protested with a playful grimace.
