Welch paused his typing and leaned forward on his forearms with a low moan of pleasure. He rolled his head around. “That feels good, son,” he said in a soft voice.

“I thought you might, sir. You seem tense.”

“Figured that out all by yourself?” the colonel said, chuckling.

“What’s all this?” Dakota asked looking at the files, data and reports displayed on the two-dimensional image in the air in front of them.

Welch sighed heavily. “I’m trying to get this city back on its feet again. We need to stop just surviving and start living, but I don’t see how we’re going to become viable for a very long time.”

Dakota leaned forward, hugging the colonel and resting his chin on the broad shoulders. “I wonder if that Xini Harvester has anything in it we might be able to use,” he mused aloud.
