Murphy, whose worldview has been solidified by materialism, arrives in the materialistic world of magic and, unable to adapt to the world, decides to change it. And in order to travel to the end of magic, he must pool his resources, pull together talent, build an organization, fiddle with human nature, and become the mastermind behind it all. Murphy: "Technology for wizards, magic for muggles. All for the greatest good!" Indeed, as most of his body vanished, Ragnar panicked. He realized that Murphy's core of will seemed to receive some kind of replenishment. Whenever it weakened to a certain extent, it would immediately recover fully—indicating that one of Murphy's "corrupt official batteries" providing mental magic had been drained and then replaced by another.
In a bid for self-preservation, Ragnar desperately condensed what remained of his body into a sphere, slowing the rate of magic depletion. Meanwhile, he began to plead, "Lord Murphy, I concede, I surrender, I can swear loyalty to you…"
Murphy ignored him, as time was of the essence for him too.
The crow array's tuning of magic was highly computational, and to squeeze the brains of those corrupt officials from Su country, the brain virus had pushed their neural networks into overclocking mode. Each of these individuals was now burning up with temperatures over forty degrees, at risk of fainting or even death at any moment.
Should too many die, unable to sustain the frequency tuning, Murphy would lose the ability to eliminate his opponent.
However, there was another way.
To find the opponent's true body.
Having connected with the opponent's will, Murphy had grasped his magic frequency, which enabled him to interfere inversely.
Knowing the opponent's magic frequency also allowed him to locate the true body.
With a thought, Murphy directed a portion of the crow array antenna to form another array, which would act as a directional radar, scanning for magic fluctuations within a three hundred kilometer radius.
This would again increase the computational burden, but this time he only needed to locate, requiring less precision. Hopefully, the muggles' heads could endure it.
After a dozen seconds, the second array was assembled. Following tuning, scanning, and feedback, a set of coordinates emerged in Murphy's mind.
Simultaneously, over sixty muggles suffered instant brain death.
But with the coordinates secured, the target was doomed.
Murphy's thought connected to the second crow array, targeting the coordinates, and issued the command, "Avada Kedavra!"
The magic began to tune and amplify again, but this time, the crow array manifested a deathly green hue.
Murphy breathed a sigh of relief, easing the magic counterforce on Ragnar a bit in the mental space.
He couldn't afford to kill all those muggles at once; making too much of a scene would cause trouble.
At that moment, Ragnar finally caught a breath and immediately shouted, "Lord Murphy, I am not your enemy! I was forced! Someone commanded me to oppose you; I can help you, please spare me…"
Murphy paused, "Who? Who commanded you to oppose me?"
Ragnar's emergence was full of mysteries, and Murphy couldn't understand where he came from or why he would oppose him.
But the "thorn" in his mind made him very uneasy, so he didn't delay further investigation and went straight for the kill.
He thought that by killing Ragnar, the threat would be eliminated, but if he was commanded, things wouldn't end so simply.
"I've never seen him, but it was he who awakened me and taught me the magic of the mental space."
"He made me plant a mental coordinate in you, telling me it would lead to a war between you and the fairies, and I would use this ritual to truly resurrect through the dead descendants of the fairies…"
"Tell me quickly, who is that person!" Murphy interrupted him, eager to know.
The tuning for the Killing Curse was complete, and his command had been issued. Canceling now would cause significant magical backlash to the lightning crows, potentially injuring even Murphy.
"He is not human," Ragnar said, "I only know it calls itself Maria, that mental coordinate…"
However, Ragnar's words were cut off.
A blinding green light illuminated the entire Oak Hill.
The next moment, Murphy exited the mental space.
His consciousness returned to his own body in the fairy castle, with Weller Longhand dead before him.
Winston burst in, "Lord Murphy, just now outside…"
He and the other Aurors had witnessed the terrifying magic, a massive cloud column of crows that vaporized half of Oak Hill with a single strike.
Suddenly returning to consciousness made Murphy slightly dizzy. After calming himself for a while, he asked, "Where was the attack?"
The previous crow phased array radar only gave him relative coordinates; he didn't know the exact location.
"It seems to be Oak Pit Mine," Winston said.
"Let's go check it out, see if there's anything left."
Ragnar died too quickly, and Murphy still hadn't figured out what exactly was going on.
A fairy supposed to live over a thousand years ago, what exactly is his current state?
From his words, it seemed he intended to resurrect through a descendant blood sacrifice.
If it's about resurrection, then he must be dead.
A ghost?
A zombie?
Or… a Horcrux?
However, his words did clear up some of Murphy's questions. Ragnar wanted to incite a war between the descendants and Murphy, so he controlled Guleus to provoke him.
It seems Dumbledore's Philosopher's Stone deal was just a coincidence.
And he must have known about Murphy's control over the Ministry of Magic.
No, wrong, he said it was "Maria" who told him to do so.
He was just a puppet.
Maria is the real enemy, and they seem to know quite a bit about Murphy.
So, who is Maria?
Why suddenly do I have such an enemy?
Ragnar wasn't weak. Although Murphy seemed to kill him easily, in reality, Murphy utilized the crow array antenna, the mental seed network, and even sacrificed dozens to hundreds of muggles' lives to take him down.
It was almost a full reveal of his hand.
And such a person was merely Maria's pawn?
Half an hour later, the Watchers found half a battle flag in the mine and handed it to Murphy.
"This was at the very center of the attack," Winston said, "It seems to have been destroyed. There was also a complex rune array nearby, and the mine was full of fairy corpses, apparently engaged in a very evil ritual."
Murphy activated his magical vision, and while the flag still radiated strong death energy, he also saw traces of another kind of magic, identical to Ragnar's.
"So, this is a Horcrux…"
Ragnar mentioned he was "awakened," perhaps existing as a Horcrux for a thousand years?
Such a large ritual couldn't have been completely hidden; there must be other fairies who knew.
With all fairies in Weller's estate dead, but the Brin family had more than this stronghold.
Catching a few escapees for interrogation should reveal the full story.
And this event must be brought to light. Such evil acts, of course, warrant a thunderous response from the Watchers. Their actions in eradicating fairy strongholds are not only justified but commendable.
However, these were not of utmost importance. Murphy's thoughts briefly lingered on these matters before returning to Ragnar's last words.
He mentioned "that mental coordinate," and though he didn't finish, Murphy guessed he meant the coordinate was also related to Maria.
Perhaps the mental coordinate was given to Ragnar by Maria, meaning even though Ragnar was dead, the coordinate in Murphy's mind was likely still active.
He sensed for it but couldn't detect any trace of the coordinate unless it was activated. Since it's referred to as a coordinate, it's meant for localization.
Having something that could locate him at any time attached to him was too dangerous, especially without knowing its other potential effects. It had to be removed.
In the realm of the mind and soul, there weren't many who knew more than Murphy himself.
Perhaps the shamans of Su country could help? After all, they deal with ancestral spirits and such; maybe they understand this.
Another letter to the Queen it is, then.
As Murphy contemplated his next steps, he recognized the urgent need to unravel the mystery of Maria and the mental coordinate. This entity, capable of orchestrating events from the shadows and utilizing formidable magic, posed a significant threat not just to Murphy but potentially to the broader magical community.
The revelation of Ragnar being a mere puppet in a larger scheme underscored the complexity of the challenges ahead. The entity known as Maria, with its deep understanding of Murphy's operations and the magical world, indicated a cunning and resourceful adversary.
Murphy's decision to reach out to the shamans of Su country highlighted his pragmatic approach to dealing with unknown magical threats. His willingness to explore unconventional solutions and leverage the unique skills of others demonstrated his adaptability and strategic thinking.
As he prepared to confront this new enemy, Murphy understood that the battle was not just about power but about knowledge, understanding, and the connections that bind the magical world together. The fight against Maria and the mystery of the mental coordinate was a reminder of the unseen battles that rage within the shadows, where the outcome could hinge on a single piece of forgotten lore or a hidden ally waiting to be discovered.
