Roommate

Ravenclaw's dormitory was a standard four-person room. Bronze curtains hung above the four-poster beds, and the decorations around the room were sky blue. Like the common room, the primary colors were blue and bronze.

Through the window, you could clearly see the mountains and wilderness in the distance, along with the Quidditch field below.

There were ten new Ravenclaw students this year, and the boys fit perfectly into one dormitory.

Terry Boot, who had been sorted early, was a slightly thin, black-haired boy who talked a lot.

Michael Corner, tall and thin with brown hair, was more reserved.

Gene Croft, a bit on the heavier side with blond hair, liked to laugh.

After putting away their luggage and washing up, Ethan climbed into bed.

"There's no way we can go out tonight," he thought to himself. "The stairs at Hogwarts move, and we're not familiar with the layout. It would be a problem trying to find our way back after sneaking out."

Terry Boot, leaning against his bed, broke the silence. "Before this summer, I couldn't have imagined I'd become a wizard. My parents are regular people. My dad works at a bank, and my mom's a full-time housewife. When I got the letter, I thought it was a prank."

"But luckily, Professor Sprout came to explain everything, otherwise I might not have made it to Hogwarts."

Terry was clearly thrilled to have entered the magical world for the first time.

"As for me, I'm not sure if I'm half-blood," Michael Corner chimed in. "My mom's a witch, but she was born to Muggles. She returned to the Muggle world after graduating from Hogwarts. My dad's just a regular person."

"But until I received my letter, my mom never revealed she was a witch. My dad was scared out of his mind when she finally told him."

"My mom studied at Hufflepuff, so I thought I'd end up there too."

Michael seemed more worried than excited.

"My mom told me it's tough for Muggle-born wizards to get good jobs after Hogwarts. Even when they do, the jobs aren't great. That's why not many Muggle-born wizards stay in the magical world. My mom hasn't used a wand in over a decade."

Michael continued, "To prove she was a witch, my mom spent hours looking for her wand, and she eventually found it buried deep in our storage room."

Gene Croft then shared his story. "My parents are both wizards. My mom was in Slytherin, and my dad was in Gryffindor. They both work for the Ministry of Magic now. My dad always says my mom was the one who pursued him first."

Gene grinned. "Before I got here, they were still debating whether I'd go to Gryffindor or Slytherin. I didn't expect to end up in Ravenclaw."

Listening to Gene, Ethan thought to himself, "He sounds like a classic protagonist—a wizard born into a magical family, with some hidden talent for sure."

"My situation's pretty similar to Terry's," Ethan said. "My family's made up of regular people. Professor McGonagall came to explain my admission."

"By the way, Ethan," Terry asked curiously, "you spent over ten minutes with the Sorting Hat. I heard some of the older students talking about it. How did that happen?"

"I didn't do anything special," Ethan replied. "The Sorting Hat just couldn't decide where to put me."

Ethan certainly wasn't going to mention that the hat had brought up Azkaban during their conversation.

"If the hat struggled, that must mean you're suited for multiple houses. You must be really talented," Terry mused, impressed.

"I barely had it on for two or three seconds before I was sorted into Ravenclaw," Terry added. "But being here isn't bad."

The four of them continued chatting for a while. They talked about Diagon Alley, Gringotts, picking out wands, their holiday experiences, and today's journey on the Hogwarts Express. But most of the talking came from Terry, with Ethan, Michael, and Gene occasionally contributing a few words.

Eventually, the dormitory fell quiet. Michael was the first to fall asleep, followed by Gene. Terry held on a bit longer, but after wishing Ethan good night, he too dozed off.

It had been an exhausting day. After waking up early to catch the train and spending over ten hours traveling, it was a wonder they had stayed up as long as they did.

Now, with a full belly and the comforts of a warm bed, sleepiness quickly took over.

Ethan, however, was still awake, staring at the magical panel before him.

Since arriving at Hogwarts, he had completed two achievements:

[Hogwarts]

Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts, teach us all we need to know. Whether we're bald old men or children with skinned knees, our minds are eager to absorb the lessons of our mistakes. Our brains, though they may seem empty or cluttered, are ready to be filled with knowledge. Teach us something valuable and help us remember what we've forgotten. We'll study diligently until every lesson is firmly ingrained in our minds.

Achievement Goal: Arrive at Hogwarts (1/1)

Achievement Reward: Random Talent

[Ravenclaw]

We come from the lakeside, where wisdom and knowledge flow like the gentle waters. We are dedicated scholars, distinct from the ordinary, with a far-sighted vision that drives us forward. Never yielding in our pursuit, we embody the spirit of Ravenclaw.

Achievement Goal:  Join Ravenclaw House (1/1)

Achievement Reward: Increased Thinking Ability, Spell Talent, and Alchemy Talent

The rewards were quite generous. The talent boosts were more valuable than learning a single spell. The Ravenclaw reward was especially remarkable, granting improvements in thinking, spell, and alchemy abilities.

Ethan already had double learning talent boosts, as well as bonuses in wizardry, black magic, and potion-making talents. Now, with further improvements in thinking, spellcasting, and alchemy, the buffs he had received were stacking up.

The random talent he received was also beneficial. "Flame Affinity" enhanced his control and power over fire magic. The deeper his understanding of fire magic, the greater the improvement.

Although the world didn't categorize magic by elements, many spells did involve various elemental forces. Fire-based magic was especially prominent, with spells like the Fiendfyre Curse, Flame-Freezing Charm, and Fire-Making Spell.

Ethan was particularly impressed by Grindelwald's mastery of flame magic—it was truly powerful and beautiful.
