Learning spells!

{Black Cottage, England}

{05:19 PM, 4th June, 1988}

Rigel stopped casting after his mana dipped down to 1, he went to 0 accidentally half an hour ago and had to deal with a mild headache for around 10 minutes. The practice was going a lot slower than he was anticipating, his mana regeneration rate was 1 mana per 10 minutes, which was too slow to do a lot of grinding. Thankfully all the basic spells took just 1 mana to cast otherwise his troubles would increase exponentially.

'Now it makes sense why there were just 8 spells that were taught in the charms class in the entire year, just to master 1 spell meant a whole day of work. Not that the students would focus on staying put waiting for their mana to regenerate just to grind spells.'

The slow mana regeneration stopped Rigel's plan to learn lots of magic before even going to Hogwarts, along with that he also got another message that stopped his rush plan.

After learning every charm in the Standard book of spells- Grade 1, he wanted to move to the second book but he wasn't expecting the INT check. He looked at his stats again, now his level and stats were a constraint for him but then again he was level 1, so some restrictions were to be expected.

'I get 1 exp for every successful spell I cast, at least for these basic spells I get only 1 exp per spell, maybe I would get more exp for higher level spells.'

Rigel was still figuring out this system, but still, he knew he was miles in front of everyone else. He was done with the charms book for now, so maybe he should focus on potions in the meantime as he waited for his mana to regenerate.

'I never thought I would be min-maxing my time in a magical world...'

Now that things were slowing down Rigel was able to focus on his current situation, somehow he had transmigrated into an alternate universe of the Wizarding world. Thankfully he had a lot of advantages due to his new identity. He was a pureblood so he wouldn't be in anyone's direct crosshair, Sirius was his guardian and Uncle so he was safe from any retaliation from the light side.

The next thing that he even had to worry about should be three years away when Voldemort would start to regain consciousness and make his way back to England. Rigel wasn't sure what the side-effects of anchoring your would to the living world would be but they surely were severe enough that Voldemort had to go into hiding in Albania for almost a decade to get his bearings right.

'And while the person has changed from Harry to Neville, I did get a look at Neville's rune, it's the same as Harry's in the original story. So at the very least, I have a year to level up without any shenanigans... I wonder if Neville is a Parselmouth.'

Rigel had several strategies for his path to power, searching through for any hidden room in the chamber of secrets was one of them. Although that plan was a lot lower in priority than simply using the Room of Requirement.

"Rigel!!" A shout interrupted his thoughts, and after a second a head popped into the door to his room, Sirius continued, "You got any spell working?" he had a curious expression on his face.

Rigel kept a straight face as he jabbed his wand toward Sirius, "~Incendio~"

"What~" Sirius yelped as he ducked, a jet of flames passed where his head just was, Rigel hid his smile as Sirius tumbled but another set of notifications took his attention away.

[Dueling(Passive) Lv-1(0/10)]

[Duelling combines raw skill, quick thinking, and the powerful use of spells. Wizards and witches engage in duels to settle disputes, test their magical prowess, or compete in the ultimate display of magical ability. Dueling is a process where participants swiftly cast spells, counter-curses, and employ defensive maneuvers to outwit their opponents.

[Aiming(Passive) Lv-1 (0/10)]

[Aiming spells requires precision, focus, and a deep understanding of the incantations and wand movements that accompany each spell. Wizards and witches must channel their magical energy through their wands, directing it with intent toward their intended target.

The two skills that popped up were rudimentary but necessary, what struck him was the situation in which he got the skills. Sirius's dodging his spell could be considered a very short duel, though not the duel of the Wizarding World, which is more like a show match.

'...again with the percentage values for things that should not be governed by skills, it doesn't make sense for my aim to be broken into numbers, it's my hand-eye coordination, why would this game quantify something like this.'

It was a weird point, will his spell start curling to hit targets if he leveled this skill up?

"Rigel?" he looked up to Sirius standing in front of him, he was giving him a questioning look.

"Uh, yeah sorry about that, that was more dangerous than I was expecting," Rigel apologized, Sirius gave him an unreadable look again before he smiled and said, "Come on let's go, we're going to the Potter manor, and don't worry about the spell, just don't try it on the twins or Rose..." he warned with a serious face before he went back to his own world with a whimsical smile on his face.

"Let me tell you, back in my days, while we weren't as gifted at magic as you are, we caused so much chaos that one time Minnie had to give us detention for the whole month... oh! Minnie will be your Professor McGonagall, don't tell her that I..."
