Chapter Six: Diagon Alley (Updated 1/2/2020)

Xeno and Luna stare to the sky where Liam took off too. Luna just sighs.

(Luna)[ Lucky.. Wish i could fly.]

(Liam)[ Hahaha… Maybe when I get bigger you can join me]

Luna smiles at his response then turns to her father. " Alright dad you promised to teach me some magic if i remember correctly."

Xeno smiles and then proceeds to go over the basic magic spells and wand movements for them. Luna stares intently as she tries to memorize all the movements and what spell they correspond with. After about an hour Liam finally decided to return to the ground.

(Liam)[ Incoming]

Luna looks up and sees Liam diving straight at her. Before he flies into her he opens his wings and break his momentum and then lands on her shoulders and proceeds to lay down on them. His head is laying on her right shoulder while his hind legs stay on her left shoulder. His tail then falls onto her torso. Luna just smiles at his antics.

(Luna)[ May i ask why you decided to use my shoulder as your napping ground]

Liam just huffs at her[ Its warm and its peaceful here and i don't want to get my scales dirty.]

Luna just laughs and pats his head before she continues to listen to her father.

Xeno sees Liam land on Luna's Shoulders, but he continues the lessons anyway knowing his daughter can multitask. By the time Xeno finishes his lessons with Luna it is already Dinner time and they forgot to even eat lunch.

As Xeno starts to usher Luna towards the house he calls out to Liam," Liam turn back and lets go make dinner."

Liam tries to respond but all that comes at is a dragon's roar. [ Sigh. Just tell dad i'll turn back when we get to the front of the house. I'm too comfortable to change right now.]

Luna laughs and attempts to convey Liam's message to her father in a fit of giggles. Xeno just walks as he massages his brows. As they arrive at their house Liam jumps off Luna's shoulders and turn back into a Human. As Liam turns back into a human Luna runs up behind him and jumps on his back.

" As a tax for using my shoulders you will carry me into the house on your back. Forward!" Luna yell while pointing towards the house.

Liam just laughs and then begins to run towards the house. As he starts running Luna begins to scream and laugh at the same time. Xeno just shakes his head as he walks.

Over the course of the next three weeks the daily life of the Lovegood family was filled with laughter and smiles. Xeno spent all his time with his children to make up for the lost time he had with them. He continued to train them in Magic and continued to work on both of their swordsmanship. Liam spent a majority of his time as a dragon now since it was more comfortable to be in, but he could always be found with Luna if he wasn't flying. Luna spent most of her time studying spells or planning traps with her father to catch the snorlax.

Xeno hoped this time would never end, but alas the school year was slowly approaching and August 18th just arrived. It was time for him to take his children to get their school supplies. As the family was eating breakfast Xeno briefed them on the plan for the day.

" Alright you two we will be going to buy your supplies today. So after we eat go get cleaned up and remember to bring your letters so we make sure we buy everything."

" Luna, Liam go get changed. I'll clean up the table and once you get down here we will go Diagon Alley."

Luna and Liam rush to go upstairs and change. Liam hurries into his room and changes into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Once he was finished he walked over to Luna's room.

(Liam)[ You ready yet]

(Luna)[ Give me a minute]

As Liam waits Luna's door finally opens and Luna steps out. Luna looks at Liam then spins around " What do you think?"

Liam smiles and pats her head. " You look beautiful as always. Now let's go so we can buy our school supplies then come back home."

Luna smiles and begins to skip downstairs. Liam just follows behind her.

Xeno sees the both of them walking down the stairs. Once he checks on them and makes sure they have their letters he goes near the fireplace and unlocks a small lock-box. Inside the lock-box was the floo powder that was locked away so the two couldn't go on adventures using the floo channels.

" Alright you two you know the drill. Call out the Leaky Cauldron before throwing the powder and meet me at one of the table nearest the stairs."

Liam and Luna both nodded and proceeded to use the floo powder. Liam was the first to go and after he said the name and threw the powder he burst into a green flame.

Liam arrived at the leaky cauldron with a burst of flames. He was meet with a dark and shabby bar and a number of tables in the shadows at the corners of the building. There was a handsome wooden staircase opposite of the bar. Liam began to walk to the table that was closest to the stairs when he saw a flash of green and Luna walking out of the fireplace.

Luna sees Liam and begins to walk towards him while coughing. " I hate to floo sometimes. If ashes haven't been cleaned out recently I always cough."

Liam just pats Luna on the head and waits for their father to arrive. About 5 minutes later Xeno comes out of the fireplace. " Sorry children forgot something and had to pack it up. Now come on let's go into Diagon Alley."

Liam and Luna follow Xeno as he walks out a door that leads behind the Tavern. Liam sees they arrive at a brick wall and sees Xeno pull out his wand. " To enter Diagon Alley their is a special trick. One must use their wand and tap the correct bricks to open the path. It's rather ingenious i must say." As Xeno talks he uses his wand and taps the correct brick code. Liam and Luna are in aw as the brick wall begins to stack itself towards the edges of the wall to open a doorway into Diagon Alley.

As they walked onto the narrow street Liam i able to smell how old these buildings are. The smell of brick and wood permeate the air which gives this shopping area a mysterious feeling. Stores were everywhere and business seemed to be booming. The streets were full of people and laughter was heard all around. All the way down the street a huge building could be seen and Xeno said that was Gringotts Wizard Bank were almost everyone's Gold was stored in for safe keeping.

As Liam and Luna look around while talking to each other their father calls out to them. " Alright you two what items did we need to buy again?"

Liam reads off from the list what they needs. Xeno just nods. " For your clothes there's no one better than Madam Malkin's. For your books you should be able to get everything at Flourish and Blotts. As for the other items I'll just go ahead and get those since it will be easier than telling you where to find them." As Xeno finishes he stops in front of a store called Eeylops Owl Emporium. " Alright once you two finish getting your clothes tailored and bought all your books meet back here and we can buy your pet for Hogwarts." Xeno smiles and then hands Liam and Luna a bag each that contained about 50 Gallons. " This should be more than enough, but don't spend it all. Whatever is left over will be used to open your own vaults within Gringotts so you both can start your own saving vaults. Better to start earlier than later."

Liam and Luna look at each other. They just smile and shake their heads at their fathers reasoning. Xeno waves at them before he walks off to do his own shopping. Luna grabs Liam by the hand and rushes to find Madam Malkins Robes for all Occasions Store. Once Luna spots it she continues to pull Liam towards the store. " Let's go slowpoke. We might make it before it gets busy. The faster we finish the longer we can take to look at the books and even maybe look for a pet before Dad returns."

" I am going as fast as you can pull me." Liam laughs while being dragged along. As Liam laughs he looks around and see people giving them a weird look and in return he narrows his eyes and stares back at them. Liam never did like to be in the company of others much especially when they give Luna and himself looks. As they arrive at the door to the shop Liam is still releasing a glare that says don't approach us. Luna turns and sees him glaring at people and hits him on the head. " Don't glare at people Liam. I know you hate when they give us weird stares, but take it and just keep going. We don't need to bother ourselves with those who can't accept us for who we are." Liam just nods and opens the door to allow Luna to walk inside. As they both walk inside they see an old petite witch dressed in mauve who appeared very friendly. The Witch turned and smiled at the two of them" Welcome to Madam Malkins Robes for All Occasions. I am Madam Malkins and what can i help you two with today?"

Luna smiles back at the old witch. " Good Morning Madam Malkins my brother and I are here to request for our Hogwarts clothes for our first year. We have the list on us if you require to look at it. Also i love your clothes the color is absolutely wonderful."

Madam Malkins smiles at Luna. " Thank you for your compliment deary and I won't require the list. I believe I know it by heart by now. I've been making Hogwarts robes for decades it seems. How about your brother and you hop up on these two pedestals and i'll take your measurements real quick. Once that is done just leave me your home address and I'll send it to your home and i'll just have you pay me the cost for the clothing. No shipping fee necessary for a fellow lover of fashion."

Luna giggles at that and jumps up on the pedestal. Liam just shakes his head and thanks Madam Malkin for her hospitality as he walks to the pedestal that was on her left. It took about forty-five minutes to get both of their measurements since Luna was chatting about possible fashion trends and Madam Malkin was eating it up. After they finally left and paid 5 Gallons each Madam Malkin said the clothes should be finished and sent to them within a week.

Luna and Liam began to walk around Diagon Alley looking for Flourish and Blotts to buy their school books. As they walked they talked about the upcoming school year and how they should attempt to read all the books they buy before the train ride to Hogwarts. They noticed the book store nearby and went inside. As they walked in they see the staff preparing a section of the bookstore and they walked over to find out. Luna stood next to the gentlemen" Excuse me Sir. What are you setting up?" The gentlemen turned his head and smiled at Luna. " Well we are setting up for Mr. Lockhart's book signing event that is tomorrow. We need to set up the day before to make sure it's ready for his inspection later. If you are lucky you might be able to see him today. He should be arriving a little before lunch, but we never know for sure since these celebrities like to show up when they want."

Luna smiles and thanks the man and proceeds to grab Liam's hand to look at the books. " Luna we should first buy our books then we can look around." Luna sighs and then proceeds to walk towards the bookstore counter to ask the owner if he has the books already packaged in bundles or if they would have to find them on their own. As luck would have it the owner did have a few first year bundles left, but they had to buy Lockhart's books separately due to him not allowing them to be sold in the bundle. Luna grumbles at that. " Why do we even need these books. They don't seem to correlate with any classes we are taking and the book titles seem like something out of those fiction books we used to read.So why would a teacher want his books on the list? I don't even think we know what this Lockhart guy even looks like"

Liam just shrugs his shoulders because he also doesn't even know who this Lockhart fellow is. They quickly bought all seven books that belonged to this Lockhart fellow. They asked the shopkeeper to add them to their bundle bags and asked him to hold their bundles so they could continue their shopping for them. He was more than happy too. After he took 2 Gallons from the both of them for the bundles and Lockhart books he just told them to let him know when they are ready to leave and he will hand the bundles over to them.

Liam and Luna thanked the man and began to look around to see if any books caught their interest. After about thirty minutes Liam and Luna decided to leave since nothing stood out that they haven't read already. As they were walking down the stairs towards the counter they saw a handsome man walk in the store. He was about 6'2 and wore very flashy robes. He had blond hair and very white teeth. They could tell he had white teeth because he seemed to be smiling every step he took. As they got near the counter they saw the gentlemen Luna talked to before yelling out, " Ah Mr. Lockhart thank you for coming. Overhere is where we set up your booth for your book signing. Please look over it and let us know if anything needs to be changed."

Luna saw enough and she went to go pick up her bundle for the counter and Liam soon followed, but as he walked he took one more look at Mr. Lockhart. As he looked at his face he noticed the slightest twitch as if he seemed unhappy or angry. Liam couldn't understand why, but after seeing that Mr. Lockhart still seemed extremely happy, even though his face muscles seemed to twitch in anger, he felt something was wrong about the man. Liam knew it was better to trust his gut then what he saw at face value; so he would make sure to tell Luna to stay away from this man.

Luna was already waiting for Liam with his bundle of books when he arrived near her. She handed him his books and they walked outside the store. " Well Luna it seems we got all our books. Let's head back to that pet store and ask dad if we are also getting our wands from here or somewhere else."

Luna nods and begins to walk next to Liam as she holds onto her books as if they were her children. As they approached the Owl Emporium they could see their father already waiting for them. " Their you two are. I have been waiting for the last thirty minutes, but i hope you enjoyed shopping come lets buy your pets." Just before Xeno could walk in he heard Liam call out to him, " Hey dad are we buying our wands here or somewhere else?"

Xeno looks at Liam " We will be buying your wands here. After we buy your pets we shall go over to Ollivanders and test you for your wand."

Liam nods and follows his father into the store with Luna skipping behind him. As they enter Liam sees a variety of animals ranging from the smallest mouse to the largest owl. " Alright you two feel free to choose what pet you want. Even though the letter says you can only choose from the three if the parents request for a change due to an animal bonding with you you can take it as your first year pet. So dont worry and take your time to see if you fancy anything or if they fancy you."

Liam and Luna nod as they begin to look around. As Liam was looking around something caught his attention. In the corner of the store was a small crow. The crow by itself looked to be a newborn, but when its eyes opened and stared into Liams it showed intelligence. The crow seemed to know who and what Liam was and as Liam approached the crow seemed to nod at him. Something within Liam told him this was the companion he was looking for." Well hello there young one. Would you like to join me?" The Crow looked at Liam and cawed at him before it took flight and landed on his right shoulder. Liam smiled at his antics and walked back towards his father. When Liam arrived he saw Luna have a Raven on her left shoulder and she smiled when she saw Liam walking towards her. Xeno smiles. " Well you two seem to have found two interesting companions."

The shopkeeper nodded and put in his two cents, " That they did. One has a Raven that represents Magic, the messenger of the great mystery, and the change in consciousness while your other one has a Crow that represents The keeper of sacred law. I have had these two in my store for the better part of the year, but no matter who wanted them they refused to leave. It seems they were just waiting for the right pair."

Xeno just nods and hands over 2 Gallons and 10 Sickles for both pets. " Alright you two lets go get your wands and while we walk try and think of a name for your new friends."

As Xeno led them to Ollivanders, Liam and Luna were trying to think of names that their companions might like. After a short walk they finally arrived at Ollivanders. Xeno ushered them to walk in after they left their companions outside the store. Xeno then walked in and he called out, " Ollivander where are you. I have two children that require your expertise." Out of nowhere an old man at the height of 5'8, a set of hair that was a dirty white, and silver eyes appeared. " Ah Xeno good to see you again. How is that 12 inch, Ceder, Kelpie hair treating you?"

" It suits me quite well and I have you to thank for that. Here are my two children and they need your help at finding a wand."

" Ah of course. Before we begin I must tell you two. It's not the Wizard that chooses the wand, but the wand chooses the wizard or witch. As with customs we shall let the lovely young lady go first. Follow me please."

Luna giggles and follow Ollivander. " Hmm lets see. Ah yes lets try a 9in, ceder, with a thunderbird tail feather."

Luna grabs the wand and begins to look confused. Ollivander waits a moment before he speak, " Why don't you move in a swishing motion." Luna did as he said and next thing Liam saw was a fireball coming out the wands tip and setting papers on the counter in flame. Luna hurriedly gives back the wand. " Well it seems this one is not meant for you. Lets try another." As Ollivander continues to look for another wand for Luna to try Liam is able to see her turning red in embarrassment. Liam just shakes his head and laughs to himself.

(Liam)[ Looky here our future arsonist]

(Luna)[ Shut up. Lets see what happens to you when you try]

Liam smiles and watches as Ollivander continues to grab wands for Luna to try and Luna keep moving them and causing some type of chaos. After the 14th wand Luna finally meet her destined wand. Ollivander could be seen with a sweat " Ahh we found it. A 10in, Ebony, with unicorn hair. It is a great wand and seems to match your personality clearly. With this you will be able to do wonderful things. Just remember to always be yourself and never let others tell you different. Now run along and let's test your brother." Ollivander gives Luna a quick pat on the head before ushering her away.

Liam walks up and prepares to receive his first wand. When he received his first wand to try he could feel the wand shiver in his hand. Similar to Luna his first attempt failed, but fire didn't come out of his wand instead a shock-wave hurled towards the counter and destroyed a section of it. Ollivander eyes raised at this and he started to think deeply before walking to get another wand. Ollivander had to keep running around to get wands for Liam to try. At the 60th wand Ollivander spoke to Liam before handing it over to him. " In all my years I have seen people that took many tries to find a wand, but your count is the longest by far. This is the strongest wand i currently have in this store its 14 ½ inches, it's made out of ash, and has a dragon heart-string." Liam received the outstretched wand. When the wand enter his hand Liam felt it shiver just as all the other wands had. As he attempted to put in some of his magic he swore he could hear the screaming of a dragon. When he went to swish his wand the magic went through the wand. As the power built in the wand cracks began to appear on the wand. As soon as Liam finished the motion the wand exploded and created a shockwave in the store. Xeno, Luna, and Ollivander were knocked off their feet and the store windows shattered. Liam just stood there in a daze trying to figure out what was happening.

Ollivander looked at Liam as if he's seen a monster, but then he goes into deep thought. He then looks back and forth between Xeno and Liam then outside. As Xeno helps Luna up he hears Ollivander mutter to himself, " I wonder…. It's been centuries before anyone has been able to wield those… He might be one of them… there's only one way to find out."

Before Xeno could call out to ollivander he turns to speak, " Xeno if you don't mind I need to take young Liam to Gringotts to try out some of our other products. The wands in this store won't be able to handle his magic, but I might have something locked up."

Xeno looks at Ollivander then towards Liam and nods his head. " Liam, Luna let's go outside Ollivander needs to lock up and fix the store real quick before we follow him to Gringotts. While we are their i can set up your own personal vaults at the same time"

Luna nods and walks up to Liam who was still in a daze. "Lets go Liam. Don't think so hard on it now. Once we get back home we can work on it together." Liam snaps out of his thoughts and looks at Luna. He smiles and pats her head as she leads him outside the store. It took about 10 minutes before Ollivander walked outside and locked up his store. " Alright then. Please follow me as we walk to Gringotts."

As Ollivander walks towards Gringotts, Xeno, Liam, and Luna follow right behind him. All three of them think to themselves,[ What does Ollivander want for Liam to try out?]
