*Narrator pov*
"Beautiful as always Helga," Morpheus said with a small smile revealing nothing on his face
"Morpheus," she replied with an emotional look in her eyes
"A Valkyrie, I didn't expect you to take the offer. Changing your race is an awfully hard decision," Morpheus said with a small chuckle
"I wanted to live," she said softly
"Live as my enemy? I could have made you a body. You could have lived as a human," Morpheus replied pointedly
"Morpheus, we don't have to be enemies, Why can't you see that?" She asked sadly
"Look around you, I know you didn't come to save that demon. Probably to prevent me from reading his soul?" Morpheus said with a wry smile
Helga frowned, "you know they teach about you? Teach about your history, what you've done in this mad pursuit of destroying the other races,"
"Oh, They teach about little old me?" Morpheus asked
"Yes, after all, to win is to know thy enemy," Helga confirmed
"Enemy, such a strange word coming from your mouth. You know Helga, it saddens me knowing I might have to kill you," Morpheus said taking a step forward
Helga stepped back, "Odin says you are consumed by madness, what do you say?"
"Madness? No Helga I'm consumed by rage. They call themselves gods angels and demons, cementing themselves in human mythology books when they are nothing but a race gifted with more in-tune magical senses. They treat humans like slaves, mere pawns to manipulate, when it is them who need us! They squandered their magical realms and now wish to take Earth as their new home. Pathetic," Morpheus spat
"And whose fault is it they used so much of their realm's magic? Whose fault it is almost gone and now we starve for magic! It's yours! You started this," Helga yelled tears coursing down her cheeks
"Helga you are not stupid stop acting like it, if you refuse to see the truth that is so clear before you I was wrong about you," Morpheus said gripping his wand loosely
"Do you know what it's like to live off magic? It fills every pore, every vein, every breath of my body. Our realms now feel restricted like we can't even breathe, you cannot condemn us to death," Helga roared in righteous anger
"I'm not who you thought I was? Morpheus, the travesties you have committed do not only affect us but also the humans. You're a hypocrite," She continued walking forward an axe forming in her hand
"Helga, from the first time we met I've always told you one thing. I am not a good person, I'm a monster," His voice dark Morpheus clenched his wand
Helga, adorned in gleaming armor, swung her enchanted axe with a thunderous force. Morpheus sidestepped gracefully, leaving afterimages in the air. Arcane glyphs glowed beneath his feet as they retaliated, sending tendrils of ethereal energy toward the Valkyrie.
Undeterred, Helga raised her axe, imbued with the power of storms. Lightning crackled around her weapon as she unleashed a mighty swing. Morpheus, anticipating the strike, summoned a whirlwind of arcane winds to redirect the lightning-infused blow.
"How did you manage to pass through the veil?" Morpheus asked while backing away
"Secret~" Helga replied with a large smile rushing forward
Morpheus smiled softly, he remembered her personality all too well. Gentle outside of battle but, a maniac when a battle starts.
As the clash intensified, Morpheus weaved intricate spells, casting illusions and summoning shadow creatures to confound Helga. The Valkyrie, however, displayed unmatched agility, gracefully evading magical onslaughts while closing the distance with each swing of her enchanted axe the shadow creatures were destroyed.
The battleground became a spectacle of magic and might, with flashes of spells and the resounding echoes of the axe.
Suddenly a sense of danger encompassed Morpheus, thunderclouds began to form in the sky.
Lightning began to form around Helga, and Morpheus laughed.
"Borrowed time?" he sneered
"Morpheus, please see reason!" she shouted as her body turned into lightning bolts ascending into the sky
Being taken from the earth and being put back beyond the veil.
'How did she do it?' Morpheus thought in frustration
*Morpheus pov*
I saw her being forcefully removed from the earth, and although my expression and words to her sounded as if I didn't care much about her changing sides I was hurt.
Hurt beyond what I believed was possible.
Helga was one of my closest friends, someone who I mourned for years over and to learn about her betrayal in a way such as this.
Was painful.
Not only did I not expect it, but I didn't see it either.
She blocked my visions somehow.
It was an odd feeling, being enraged to such a degree. Every day I am mad, angry, and thirst for victory.
But, seeing Helga as my enemy. Seeing her betrayal brought all of my rage to a new level.
Looking around the battlefield I cleared my magic signature and left.
Despite what she and the others might think. That demon told me everything I needed to know, not with words but with his dreams.
While his soul and body were being destroyed I used the dream ruby to peek into his mind.
What I found was a lot of weird things but, the central theme was an overwhelming victory over Earth.
And the way it was achieved, was by an alliance spanning over all races to lay siege on my home.
This has never happened before, usually, they would still fight amongst themselves as none of them saw eye to eye.
They must be desperate, oh how that brought a smile to my face.
If I used one of my pills I could have easily won that battle but, I didn't see the need to. I don't want to kill Helga, I want to know why she made this decision.
Appearing back in my parlor, I poured a glass of wine and began to set up a divination ritual, now that I know what type of divination blockers they are using I can work around them.
Well around the demons and other creatures at their level, I will still get vague answers but vague is still better than nothing.
What makes demons, angels, and 'gods' feel so superior and strong is their body is naturally in tune with magic. Their whole being is powered and fueled by magic, making them able to perform powerful feats with minimal effort.
This attribute of theirs is what makes my visions blurry since they are surrounded and covered in magic twenty-four seven I get interference.
I must be careful to skillfully peel back to layers of a vision in order to form a full picture in my head.
However, their strongest attribute is also their greatest weakness. In environments with little to no magic, they struggle to succeed and feel like fish out of water.
Shaking my head I threw those thoughts to the side, I should focus on my next target. The leader of a criminal wizarding association that sells and creates illegal products.
Their influence seems to span many countries. First I must find where the boss is currently, and then I will work on destroying him.
