2 [1985 Pt.1]

[1985]- [7 Years after Rebirth]-[4 Years after the First Fall Of Lord Voldemort.]

It had been seven years since Jason had been reincarnated into this world. They had not been easy, being downsized to a baby had given such complicated feelings to Jason that he was not sure whether he liked not dying or whether he hated having to live as a child again.

Having to hold his tongue as his family discussed Wizarding politics was troublesome, but he never gave any indication that he understood what was going on around him. Why? Because he was sure that he was not the only person to ever get the package of rebirth.

Wizards have been trying to avoid death for centuries, things like Horcruxes and the Hallows prove that much, if one could manipulate the soul but could not avert death, then would it not be better to just 'die' in such a way that they could preserve their original personality and memories and be reborn as a child, in fact it would make more sense since if the original was murdered, the killer would not realise that his victim(As much a victim someone who delves in such dark magic could be) had escaped death and now resided the body of a child who might be anywhere in the world. Jason was so sure that such magic existed simply by two facts from the original story, the first being the presence of soul magic and the second being the ritual that Voldemort used to resurrect himself- the man had referred to it as an 'old piece of magic.'

It led to only two conclusions- one that resurrection was not an impossible idea if the soul was anchored to the world, and second someone had already perfected the creation of a new body long before Voldemort. From these two things, along with the fact that two souls could exist in a body and one of them could sabotage the other, as done in the original story with Harry, Jason inferred with great confidence that the only reason, reincarnating into a child was not considered by masters of Dark magic was that it still left them very vulnerable and the body rejecting their soul as in with Quirell.

This was further supported by the existence of Babymort, the man needed Snake Venom and Unicorn Blood to support his temporary body which Jason knew was probably either a newborn or a fetus.

And if the original story was in any way canon to his personal timeline, which he knew it was, then the method he was brought here would be in serious violation of whatever laws the wizards had against Dark Magic, Time Magic and Alternate Dimension Travel. And even if that was not enough, he was sure that his circumstances would definitely interest the unspeakables, who by going with how the department of mysteries operated as shown in the stories were not pleasant individuals to deal with.

He shook his head, he was Nathan Grey now, that was his name. Maybe someday Jason would be able to travel to his other home. However, until then, Nathan would have to be here in this world since this was home too now. It was something that he had come to accept in the past seven years of his time here, after all, one had to be very heartless to not be affected by the love showered upon you by people that thought of you as their child, people who would die for you.

His new family members were amazing people that were easy to like as well. His father, Alexander was an incredibly thoughtful man who had never foregone his roots as a man of the modern world despite being a part of the wizarding world. His father was amazing at transfiguration and liked to show Nathan battles between a small dragon and knights. The man also liked making Nathan chase a golden unicorn. His father was the one who was responsible for homeschooling him. The man had tried teaching him things like Maths, English and things like colours, vegetables, fruits, etc.

Nathan despite not wanting anyone to know his identity, was not going to sit through the classes like a normal four-year-old. The question had been how to make sure that his father did not bother Nathan with learning things like counting, addition and multiplication. The solution had been as simple as showing that he was dedicated to studying and telling the man he would do it on his own and asking for a test every month along with materials that he needed to learn or read.

The man had been reluctant, but Nathan had thrown a tantrum saying that if he didn't score well, then he would agree. Nathan had made sure to make it look like he did not want his father touching his books and his father had initially been reluctant, but when he refused to talk to the man as he tried to teach him, it had gotten his grandmother involved.

He had pleaded with her that he would learn everything told to him but he wanted to do it on his own. His grandmother had asked him to learn the spelling of numbers ten to thirty and told him that if he passed a test by the evening of the same day, he would only have to take bi-weekly tests and do the written portion daily. While Nathan had seen how biased the test would have been against a normal child, he had aced it regardless. That had freed him from most of the more annoying lessons.

Though he still had to practise cursive writing with a quill. It was one of the few things that he tried doing with honest effort since his handwriting which was abominable in his previous life had always affected the outlook of his teachers against him despite his perfect scores.

Normally, Nathan would not have risked himself so much when he asked for exemption from direct lessons, but he had done it so that he would have some leeway in his studies of magic since not wanting to be supervised would be chalked up as a quirk instead of a deliberate attempt to hide what he was learning.

The other reason for doing so was the free time he could use for the next thing he should be focusing on- magic and more specifically, Wandless Magic.

He had asked his grandfather to get him a book on wandless magic. The man blinked at him in confusion before saying, "Of course, I will get it for you my boy."

Yes, it had been as easy as asking for a book. And only after he read it, did Nathan realize why his grandfather had not disproved his request. Wandless magic was a great way to train in using magic and helped build a wizard's magical reserves. It also helped in controlling willpower and emotions since both were really necessary to control magic itself.

Wandless magic, Nathan had found in his studies, was something that was also pretty useless beyond training magical control if you weren't Albus Dumbledore's level of powerful and even if you were that powerful, it could only be used at most for grandstanding. The only thing that you could reliably use it for was moving objects. You could also hex people without a wand but that part was very unreliable since the result of trying to hurt people with wandless magic could range from tripping them or making them sick to burning them alive or breaking their bones.

There were some spells as well that could be cast wandlessly. Apparition was an example, but there was a disclaimer attached to it.

Nathan had decided that he would start with wandless magic whenever he had his first magical accident. That accident had already occurred the previous day, it had been caused while he was trying to reach for a roll of parchment that had fallen on the floor, the roll had floated back into his hand with a swish.

And deciding that he wanted to start early, Nathan got out of his bed to get breakfast so that he could begin his practice early.

[AN: In the previous version, his brilliance was too easily accepted, not something that would happen in the real world, in the real world parents tend to test a child when the child claims to want to be independent. These tests more often than not have impossibly high standards.

Nathan accepts his rebirth so easily because he does not wallow in misery, and with his intelligence, he realizes that going back home isn't impossible.

His reasons for not running to Dumbledore or telling his new family about his rebirth are also addressed in this version because it does make sense for the OP to just run to Dumbledore with all the info he has.
