"Thanks." Natasha said as she sat in a hospital bed, Harry was sat next to her and waving his wand over her. He had healed her ribs and her ankle along with the cut on her head, he was now working on the bruise on her face and the cut on her lip.
"You're welcome, noHealing Bondsw stay still, I don't want to accidently poke you in the eye." Harry said as he waved his wand over her face. "This will sting slightly." Harry warned.
"Okay..." Natasha's words stopped as she let out a slight hiss when she felt a stinging sensation on her cheek.
"Told you." Harry said as he waved his wand and conjured a hand mirror. "Take a look." Harry said as he handed it to her.
"Thanks," Natasha said as she took the mirror, she looked at her face and was glad to see it looked undamaged, as if it was never damaged in the first place. "magic is still amazing." She smiled as she offered him the mirror.
"Keep it if you want." Harry replied.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I don't mind, I got it for free." Harry joked. "You can keep it or I can get rid of it."
"I'll keep it then," She shrugged before setting it aside. "no point in wasting a good mirror. So...thanks again for saving me."
"It's alright, just doing my job." Harry replied. "Your injuries are healed but if you want to go see a doctor to be sure then feel free."
"You were going to kill him, weren't you?" Natasha asked suddenly, her green eyes meeting his grey ones.
"Yeah, I was." Harry admitted honestly. "Killing, fighting, it's just easy for me."
"Yeah, you're not the only one."
"Hmm, Padfoot misses you by the way." Harry commented.
"Really?" She asked in an amused tone as she raised an eyebrow, she knew he was trying to change the subject but decided not to comment on it, for now at least.
"Yeah, he was a bit upset that you weren't showing up like usual." Harry nodded.
"Well if you had stayed a bit longer during our last conversation then I could have told you I was leaving tomorrow and you could have told him that I was on a mission." She responded.
"I...I admit that I probably could have handled that better." Harry sighed as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Definitely could have."
"Probably could have handled that better," Harry repeated. "but...I really don't think that I am who you want Nat."
"How much do you know about my history?" Natasha asked suddenly.
"Everything that Shield knows." Harry replied. "I did my research on you."
"Then you should know how I was brought up, you said that your first kill was at eleven, I was younger when I had my first kill. I don't know all about your past or what you went through but I went through hell too. Maybe, just maybe, you'd feel better having someone to share it with."
"Do you know what happened to my last world?" Harry asked.
"No, not really." Natasha frowned at his out of the blue question.
"It was ruined, wrecked beyond repair." Harry said in an emotionless voice. "There was barely anybody for me to 'share it with'. I promise you Nat that in the past I have tried to find someone to spend the rest of my life with, I tried to find a family, I once even had a godson. His name was Teddy, he was my biggest source of happiness and I lost him and his mother the same day. Both were killed by members of the opposing army. From then all I could do, all I wanted to do was torture and kill each and every single one of them. The guy who was responsible for killing my godson, I tortured him and his parents. Then I killed his mother in front of him, sent him to work in mines where he lost his hands, then when he was nearly broken emotionally, mentally and physically, I brought him in front of his tortured father. I killed his father in front of him, then I killed him and I enjoyed every minute of it. You can do better than that Nat."
"Perhaps," Natasha nodded. "but you answer me this, do you want to hurt me?"
"No but..."
"That was a long time ago, wasn't it?"
"Yes but I..."
"You are a changed man, aren't you?"
"I am but that doesn't..."
"Then there is nothing for me to worry about, is there?" She replied before he could finish.
"Nat, I told you already, I don't want to get close to someone just to lose them again and..."
"I know," She cut him off. "I remember you telling me that. But I want to know something, is it worth it?"
"Is what worth it?"
"Is cutting yourself off, never getting close to someone, worth it? I mean, what's better between never having something or enjoying what you have while you can have it?" She said as in a way that would lead you to believe that he had asked a her a very stupid question.
"Okay, so I save your life and you thank me by arguing with me?" Harry raised an eyebrow.
"First of all, you didn't save my life, I would have found a way out of there eventually." She said, earning an eyeroll from Harry. "Second of all, if you saved my life..."
"Which I did."
"Then I am repaying you by talking some sense into you."
"I hate you."
"No you don't." She smirked, no doubt in her voice.
