Chapter 66: Family Disagreements

William stood outside the personal office of his grandfather, the current head of the Rosier family. Before entering he had to control his breathing, he had a life on his shoulders it was true, but for some strange reason he felt a great pressure just being in front of his grandfather.

"Don't stay outside, come in" the voice came from inside, surprising William, from the tone of voice it seemed that this conversation is not a warm welcome as is the case with many other families the moment their children return.

He put his hand on the doorknob, operating it to enter, the door creaked so much that it made William close one of his eyes.

In front of him, only a few steps away was the head of the Rosier family who took over the responsibility after the death of Evan Rosier at the hands of the dark wizard hunter and famous auror, Alastor Moody. The position of head of the family should have been given to Marcus Rosier William's older brother years ago but Lord Rosier refused saying that Marcus was not ready to carry the responsibility of the family.

"Ah... I'm here grandfather, Vorona said you were expecting me" William mentioned to get his grandfather's attention.

Lord Rosier didn't raise his face at all and simply said in a cold voice "You should announce your return properly first, that's what a good grandson does don't you think, William?"

"Oh... right, my mistake" William nodded his head, he sketched a faint smile then looked back at his grandfather "I'm back grandfather how is everything?"

This time Lord Rosier raised his head and looked at William with a slightly warmer expression, he gave a couple of blinks and opened his mouth "This uniform is the closest you will ever come to being a Slytherin in your life, the green matches your hair exceptionally I might add."

William looked down at himself and gave a flip "I think it's a rather peculiar uniform and it's really comfortable, it even has several types of protections"

"I can tell just by looking at it was it useful during your adventure?"

"You know about the adventure?" asked William in surprise but then Lord Rosier dropped a copy of the journal the professed on the desk, there on the front page was the photo featuring the children who captured the famous Fenrir Greyback.

"You are front page news" added lord Rosier "not many can make it out alive in a battle against Greyback, now the question did he bite you?"

William made direct eye contact with his grandfather, he looked at the family portraits on the walls of the office who were also staring at him obviously everyone wanted to know the answer, but then William removed the top of his robes leaving his wound visible.

"A wound of such magnitude...it is fortunate that you are still alive, but it is even more fortunate that it did not bite you, it would be a regrettable event for the family, a genius with your talent is not often"

"Fortunately I also made some friends who saved my life in battle" William remembered his fellow soldiers, those who fought side by side against Greyback.

"I could recognize almost everyone in the photograph. Some half-bloods among them, but there were also many purebloods with a lot of relevance, you have a great eye for making friends, you make your summers really valuable, not like your brothers, you have a great future waiting for you William"

William and Lord Rosier stayed talking for quite some time inside the office, there were many things to say about Castelobruxo, William showed him the drawings of the Mayan tablets, he handed over some Mayan gold coins to keep among the family keepsakes.

When the conversation seemed to end William looked at his grandfather "I saw Lesley earlier, when I entered the mansion, she didn't seem to have any grudge against me, but she mentioned that I shouldn't get close to my mother."

"Oh... yes, Lesley is right in what she says" lord Rosier stroked his own hands and looked towards the window "this is a matter of family branches, she fears the story is like Sirius Black's, you know the two are related, she thinks you will betray the family just because you were selected to Gryffindor. I heard she sent you a blank letter, she waited for your arrival so they could discuss everything, but you successfully escaped to South America."

"Yeah, I didn't expect the sorting hat to send me to Gryffindor either, I actually expected something like Ravenclaw because of my quest for knowledge, but it was a surprise the moment the hat spoke, I felt everyone's gaze and then it was the same all year.

"Do you think your life would be better in Ravenclaw?" asked Lord Rosier.

William shook his head "honestly it doesn't matter what house the hat put me in, I wouldn't have fit in anywhere. Three of the four houses don't want me because my father was a Death Eater and the last one would have just wanted to turn me into a minion."

"Lucius has always tried to show superiority among the 28 families, the weasleys don't make it difficult and we lost momentum after your father's death, but the new generation is strong but they are still puppies, this is the last chance Lucius has to ruin us."

William sat down on the couch and let out a long sigh full of frustration "The Malfoy's are really annoying, if we had proof of their services under Voldemort's name we could ruin their family"

"William!"

"Huh?"

"Don't call him by his name, call him by any other name but don't use his name, you must know by now that it is frowned upon in society" Lord Rosier lashed out at William with an authoritative tone, during his lifetime he had seen many wizards who wanted to show bravery by naming the dark lord by his name and in the end only a few stayed alive ", on the other hand I think it's best to stay away from the Malfoy's as much as possible"
