Chapter 03: A Miracle

"I still don't feel anything, if I keep this up I'll end up a squib" William looked at his palm as it was slowly being closed, his expression was not very inspiring and sometimes pitiful, it had been five weeks since he had the dream of fire and he had tried countless times to wake up or feel the magic but every time it was a failure, it was as if the magic was avoiding him.

William was losing his cool, the deadline for the arrival of the letters was approaching and he himself had no magic at all, it would be a failure.

Inside the Rosie mansion was a library and William had read every single book inside looking for an answer but to no avail.

"...I guess I won't be a wizard..." muttered William under his breath stretched out on the floor of his room staring at the ceiling.

"I tried everything from magic circles to potions but nothing, nothing at all. It wasn't enough that I had wasted all my efforts in my first life sacrificing myself to save a girl but I was also reincarnated into a world of magic but without the ability to use it in my own way, I am simply a colossal sized failure."

"I only wanted magic but what did I get?" William looked at his palm as his zone of vision was extended and everything seemed to be intangible, even walls seemed to be invisible "I only have the ability to see beyond the human eye.... useless."

Within William's space of vision he could see one of the house elves of Castle Rosier, there was nothing unusual but every time these little humanoids disappeared they left behind a small trail of light that at the end were particles of a silvery color.

Surprised by what he observed William left the room and ran out while using his mind's eye to see everything around him, when he reached the kitchen he could notice the particles much more present. The house elves had to pass through the kitchen several times in the day so there would be traces of their aura left in it and William could see that aura.

"Magic" William muttered excitedly watching the particles slowly disappear merging with the surroundings. House elves were shrouded in the silver aura and humans as in the case of the girl in her previous life were shrouded in a light blue aura. William was not an idiot and could come to the conclusion easily but now he had another doubt.

"What is the color of the wizards aura?" he asked himself with his hand on his chin, it was not difficult to discover the aura since fortunately there was another wizard in the house, old Rosier who was also the lord of the house.

Drowned in the illusion and excitement of being a wizard, William moved through the corridors of the castle always in the direction of his target, when he reached the place his footsteps became quieter and the speed was greatly reduced, no one could blame him after all he was spying on a former dark wizard, not many aurors dare to do so but Will was ignorant of that.

(Can he detect my mind's eye? is he even aware of how close I am? what will happen if he catches me right now?) those were the questions that were on the boy's mind in search of hope for a bright future, even though he was unsure he resigned himself to the abandonment of his last glimmer of hope.

He simply let out his area of vision, he had to see the old man but his mind's eye had limits, he knew it and the old man was beyond expectation. He could circle the room but nothing ensured he was anywhere near the walls after all he was an old fox.

William clenched his fists in fury and put all his effort into extending his field of vision a little, just a couple of meters more to be able to see the aura, William's teeth gnashed before the field was extended but it only took a couple of centimeters to see it.

He couldn't see the old man's entire body but at least one of the old man's feet was within his zone and that was enough, he could now see the red colored aura overflowing from the old man's body.

The mind's eye shut down by inertia and William could feel the fatigue building up in his mind, also his body was full of sweat, it was the first time he forced the mind's eye to see beyond the limit.

By the time he made it all the way to the room he had recovered slightly and the dizziness was gone, now at the very least he had no fear of falling, plus he had a more important mission and no time for rest.

William sat cross-legged on the floor, closed his eyes and extended his field of vision once again, this time with another particular objective.

Since he had arrived in this new world and discovered that the rare ability was with him he began to experiment but could only discover a few pointed things among them the fact that it signals the things William desires and right now this feature was needed.

"Magic..." muttered William slowly picturing in his mind the red particles he saw from the old man.

"...."

"..."

Just as William had requested those particles now showed around him as if they were tiny snowflakes or dust in the sunlight.

William's expression had a big smile remarking his daisies and dark eyes, he was happy, it was the first time he had smiled since he came to his second life.

William didn't know what to do now, he had no idea what step to take as there was no guide for what he was doing and it was never mentioned in the movies, this was just magic.

Without waiting any longer William reached out his arm towards the particles until he touched one with the tip of his finger and like a lantern all the particles rushed into him. William could feel how his insides felt warm and so he could finally feel the magic. William's first contact with magic in two lifetimes.
