7 'Sorting ceremony'

As they moved towards the great black lake near the railway station, they can see a grand castle was situated on top of a mountain near the lake. Hogwarts is surrounded by pure nature, which makes anyone wants to live there for the rest of their lives.

Even though Edward has already seen this scene so many times in his previous life, he is still dumbfounded by the sheer beauty of the nature surrounded by the Hogwarts school of magic.

In order to reach Hogwarts, you will have to take boats from the lake. Edward already knows this and at this time they heard Hagrid's voice,

"No more'n four to a boat!" Hagrid called, pointing to a fleet of little boats sitting in the water by the shore.

"We four should take one boat." After saying that Edward moved towards a small fleeting boat and boarded it, followed by harry, ron and hermione.

And the fleet of little boats moved off all at once, gliding across the lake, which was as smooth as glass. Everyone was silent, staring up at the great castle overhead. It towered over them as they sailed nearer and nearer to the cliff on which it stood.

"Heads down!" yelled Hagrid as the first boats reached the cliff; they all bent their heads and the little boats carried them through a curtain of ivy that hid a wide opening in the cliff face. They were carried along a dark tunnel, which seemed to be taking them right underneath the castle until they reached a kind of underground harbor, where they clambered out onto rocks and pebbles.

Hagrid later took them all through the string of stairs, where a large castle door is located. He simply knocked on the door three times, before the door swung opened by a tall lady in a black dress.

"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," said Hagrid.

"Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here. "

"Observato"

Edward simply used the charm observato beforehand, so that he can check all the important individuals or magicians without letting them notice.

"My observato charm will last for 1 hour, as I have poured half of my magic to use it this time. Before it is worn out, I should collect as many samples as possible."

Thinking up to that point, he started checking all the professors and some students.

As they reached the great dining hall, they heard Professor McGonagall saying,

"You guys, will all be sorted into different houses based on the nature you have developed from the day you born. And do remember, whatever the house that you are sorted, will be like your family for the rest of your life in Hogwarts."

"The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rulebreaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours."

"The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting. "

After that, all the first years started to get nervous by the words McGonagall said, they don't know how the test will work for them to join houses.

"How do you think the test will work?"

Hermione couldn't help but ask, making ron wants to say some nasty things to her. But he was stopped by Edward, and Edward told them, how they are going to get sorted into different houses.

They saw professor McGonagall taking out an old worn-out hat from somewhere and place it on a table nearby. As soon as the hat is placed on the table, it started to sing, making all the first years shocked and surprised.

"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you can find

A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head

The Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

The whole hall burst into applause as the hat finished its song. It bowed to each of the four tables and then became quite still again.

"So we've just got to try on the hat!" Ron whispered to these three friends.

"Now, all of you stand in a line, I will call all your names one by one and you will be placed in different houses by this sorting hat."

After saying that she just waited for some time, so that all the students can form in a line. By the time all of them formed in a line, she looked towards the sheet in her hands and called the first name.

"Kimsely, Edward"

As soon as the voice reverberated in the entire hall, not only students, even professor dumbledore and other professors looked towards with weird glint in their eyes. Professor McGonagall was the most surprised and happiest person in the whole group, as she also came from the muggle family, she knows how much power kimsely's have in the whole of England. She used to be proud that a muggle family can instill fear, even in the pure-blooded families like Malfoy.

Even some students from pure-blooded families recognized kimsely and a hint of wariness appeared in their eyes. Of all the students who recognized a kimsely name, Malfoy was the most shocked person.

Before he was going to come here, his father instructed him personally about kimsely's. He again reminisced his words,

"Son, this time there is going to be a muggle join in Hogwarts from kimsely's family and his name is Edward. No matter who you offend in the school, you don't offend Edward kimsely, I think you already know who kimsely's are right?"

Professor McGonagall was surprised by murmurs of the hat, as she is an animagus, only she heard what hat said,

"Just put me in Gryffindor house, I don't care or know much about other houses."

Edward simply replied, making the talking hat to twitch his mouth.

"Gryffindor"

As hat shouted, hagrid by now also recognized Edwards identity started clapping, even dumbledore and other professors also clapped.

Most happiest one is professor mcgonagall, she also clapped happily. Even some pureblooded family members from Slytherin and other houses clapped happily, showing their goodwill towards Edward.

On the Gryffindors, only some people recognized Edward's family and clapped happily. A lot of them didn't know why even professors and Slytherin house members clapped for Edward coming to Gryffindor and got dumbfounded.

Harry and his group also clapped happily, thinking they should also go to a gryffindors house.

"Ron, hermione, ask talking hat to put you in Gryffindor no matter what. I don't know why, but if we were to follow Edward, we will definitely achieve great things in the future."

harry instructed both of them, as his gut feeling is telling him to follow Edward's footsteps. Ron and hermione also nodded their heads, as they also have the same feeling in them.

Edward simply went to sit in the backside of the griffindors table. Some of the pureblooded members who recognized, Edward, congratulated him. While others curiously looked at him.

After that, professor mcgonagall continued with the ceremony. Harry, ron, and hermione all got in a gryffindors house.

When Harry got into the gryffindors house, all the Gryffindor members clapped happily and welcomed him. But not only harry, even ron and hermione directly went to sit beside Edward. Making all the house members surprised by their behavior.

Seeing this, Edward also smirked and decided to teach them properly. So, that they can fight alongside him in the future when he traveled across....(COUGH - AUTHOR)

Albus Dumbledore had gotten to his feet. He was beaming at the students, his arms opened wide as if nothing could have pleased him more than to see them all there.

"Welcome," he said. "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!

"Thank you!"

After that, all of them ate happily and chatted with some ghosts. Right after they completed their eating, they heard professor dumbledore saying.

And now, before we go to bed, let us sing the school song!" cried Dumbledore. Harry noticed that the other teachers' smiles had become rather fixed.

Dumbledore gave his wand a little flick as if he was trying to get a fly off the end, and a long golden ribbon flew out of it, which rose high above the tables and twisted itself, snakelike, into words.

"Everyone picks their favorite tune," said Dumbledore, "and off we go!"

And the school bellowed:

"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,

Teach us something please,

Whether we be old and bald

Or young with scabby knees,

Our heads could do with filling

With some interesting stuff,

For now, they're bare and full of air,

Dead flies and bits of fluff,

So teach us things worth knowing,

Bring back what we've forgotten, just do your best, we'll do the rest,

And learn until our brains all rot. "

Everybody finished the song at different times. At last, only the Weasley twins were left singing along to a very slow funeral march. Dumbledore conducted their last few lines with his wand and when they had finished, he was one of those who clapped loudest.

"Ah, music," he said, wiping his eyes. "A magic beyond all we do here! And now, bedtime. Off you trot!"

After that, under Percy's lead, they reached their dorm of Gryffindor's house.

At the very end of the corridor hung a portrait of a very fat woman in a pink silk dress.

"Password?" she said.

"Caput Draconis," said Percy, and the portrait swung forward to reveal a round hole in the wall. They all scrambled through it -- Neville needed a leg up -- and found themselves in the Gryffindor common room, a cozy, round room full of squashy armchairs.

Percy directed the girls through one door to their dormitory and the boys through another. At the top of a spiral staircase -- they were obviously in one of the towers -- they found their beds at last: five four-posters hung with deep red, velvet curtains. Their trunks had already been brought up. Too tired to talk much, they pulled on their pajamas and fell into bed.

Edward also took his bed and fed some fish to egsy before going to sleep. He decided to add all the details that he collected in the morning.
