Chapter-3: The wand and destiny

When Theo entered the shop, a chime came from the back of the room. He looked around, the shop is tiny, and there was only a bench in front of the counter.

Not far away, were almost a thousand small cardboard boxes nearly reaching the ceiling.

There were all kinds of wands in them, and somehow Theo felt that the dust and silence of the place seemed to hold mysterious magic.

After looking around, Theo sits on the bench, and shortly afterward, a gentle voice came from the shop.

"Good morning,"

A single elderly man stood right in front of him, his wide eyes gleaming mysteriously in the dark shop.

"How may I help you?"

"Hello sir, my name is Theodore Arthur Augustus. I am a freshman in Hogwarts, here to buy my first wand."

Replied Theo calmly and politely.

"Are you from that Augustus family?"

Inquired Mr. Ollivanders with bright eyes.

"No, I am from the Augustus family of muggle side, but if there is one in this side, then we are of the same family origin," replied Theo with a curious gaze.

"Ah. How marvelous…how very marvelous…" said Mr. Ollivanders muttering himself,

"So, Mr. Augustus have your family came with you?"

"Yes. They are waiting outside," replied Theo.

"Ah. Yes. In that case, we can start. Which hand do you use Mr. Augustus?" said Ollivanders with a smile.

"I'm ambidextrous," replied Theo.

"Stretch out your arm like so."

Ollivanders began to measure from Theo's shoulder to his fingertip, the wrist to the elbow, the shoulder to the ground, the knee to the armpit, and then the entire circumference of the head.

After his measurements, he spoke,

"Each Ollivanders wand has a strong magic core which is its essence.

I usually use unicorn hair, phoenix tail feather, and dragon nerves.

Every Ollivanders wand is unique because there are no two identical unicorns, dragons, or phoenixes.

Of course, if you use a wand that belongs to other wizards, the spells will never be as good.

Please always remember, the wand chooses the wizard!"

Ollivanders had already walked into the pile of boxes holding magic wands as he spoke.

"Try this, Mr.Augustus. Oak and the heartstring of a Chinese Fireball. 10 inches, excellent, and nimble. Try giving it a wave."

Theo took the wand and gave it a rather clumsy wave. Ollivanders immediately snatched it back.

"Vine and phoenix feather. 9 inches and exceedingly springy. Give it a try."

Theo had just lifted the wand when Ollivanders took it back.

"No, no. This is yew and unicorn hair. 8.5 inches, springy. Continue trying."

Theo tried again and again, the pile of wands that he had tried already grew higher and higher on a chair.

But the more wands that were taken out from the shelves, the happier Mr. Ollivanders seemed to appear.

"A difficult customer. Not to worry, we are sure to find one here that's suitable for you. Ah yes, why not — an unusual combination. 13 inches, Beech and Black walnut wood with dual-core of Fairy wings and Thestral hair"

When Theo received the wand heat flowed from his finger, the tip of the wand produced a silver-white halo with golden wings giving a very mystical and majestic look and there were very mystical sounds coming from the wand spreading in the surrounding.

Mr. Ollivanders cried,

"Oh, bravo! Yes, indeed, oh, very good. Well, well, well... how fascinating... how very fascinating..."

He put Theo's wand back into its box and wrapped it in brown paper, still muttering,

"Fascinating... fascinating..."

"Sorry,"

Said Theo,

"But what's fascinating?"

Mr. Ollivanders fixed Theo with his pale stare.

"I remember every wand I've ever sold, Mr. Augustus. Every single wand. It's fascinating that a wand so ancient and so powerful, which after production never chooses a wizard has finally chosen one, coincidently that very same person is choosing his first wand. It's indeed fascinating."

"Sorry have you said ancient wand?" asked Theo staring at Ollivanders with wide eyes.

"Yes. It is indeed ancient. It's one of the family heirlooms passed by my family. It's so ancient that, it was long forgotten by the world, except for our family."

"It was a wand that my family founder's teacher participated in its manufacturing and was the last he ever made, it was passed to my ancestor after his death.

It's been said that it's the only dual wood and core wand ever so build in history. But due to its very choosing and temperament nature, it didn't found its rightful master for which it became an item forgotten on the passage of time."

I was very excited when I got it from my father, it's a very beautiful wand after all."

Said Ollivanders looking at the wand in Theo's hand with an expression of reminiscing.

"Its beautiful wand indeed."

Said Theo with an excited and loving expression looking at the wand in his hand.

"You said that it finally choose its rightful master?"

Inquired Theo looking at Ollivanders with bright eyes.

Hearing the question Ollivanders chuckled a little, then looked a Theo with a mysterious expression.

"You see the more powerful the wand the harder to get its allegiance. It has two types of wood and core. Normally it's hard to combine different woods let alone cores in a wand.

Besides multiple cores has a huge risk of backfire.

But this wand has not only two different powerful kinds of wood but also two different strong cores.

Moreover, they are independent. But they are so coordinated among themselves that it shows us how powerful this wand is.

It's said that this wand has the capability to contend with the elder wand."

Said Ollivanders unto here and catch a little breath. Then looked directly into Theo's eye.

"That's why for having such powerful wand wilder has to be capable and have great destiny and luck."

"I… I … I don't know if I have such capability or ability to wild it. May...maybe... you have given me the wrong wand." said Theo looking scared.

After all, he is just a child of eleven years having such worlds will give him a sense of danger.

"No, the wand didn't make a mistake. All ways remember wand chooses the wizard Mr. Augustus not the other way round.

Besides, it's your destiny that this wand chooses you as your master. After all this wand was owner-less science it's born.

And it's my destiny to sell this to you and be part of this memorable moment. After all it was a great ambition of our wand-making family to see this wand's owner and I have fulfilled it."

Said Ollivanders with full of joy and vigor. Seeing such excitement of Ollivanders Theo calm himself down found himself full of anticipation and excitement.

He wondering what great destiny, adventures wait for him. He can't wait to find it.

"Oh dear, I look at the time sorry young man it seems I hold you for quite a long time." said Ollivanders with a smile.

"Ah. Yes. Excuse me, how much is it." said Theo sobering up from is a delusion.

"It's only a hundred galleons."

"Here you go."

"Thank you." "I wait to see your great achievements in the future Mr. Augustus."

Said Ollivanders looking at Theo who is leaving the shop. Hearing the words Theo smiled.

"Thank you Mr. Ollivanders, goodbye."

After coming out Theo has a determined look and anticipating the future.
